1966 Chevrolet Caprice. Cold.

From Reid Cunningham: "Claremont, New Hampshire. A quick search says this is the first year of the Caprice. The formal roofline on the two door was just for the Caprice, the Impala and SS had the sloping sport roof. Most likely the 283 and a Powerglide."

1967 Volvo P1800, Maine

Thanks to photographer Scott Dorrance. We posted another P1800--from Colorado Springs--a couple days ago. More if you try Volvo on our search widget or just search Autoliterate Volvo online.

Willys Jeep CJ

Anything after this era--still the basic, gnarly little postwar unit--missed the industrial, quick-fix, bolted-together aesthetic of the original. I think this--maybe a 1960?-- still has that original essence of jeep. Caught it in Colorado Springs a while back.

1937 Marmon-Herrington 4x4

Unlike, say, "Jeep", "Marmon-Herrington" doesn't exactly trip off the tongue. Maybe why this prototype built for the US Army never really went places. But this rugged little unit is now on the block at haggleMe.

1968 Volvo P1800s Colorado Springs

Spotted this car on the way to work, one morning in the Springs. Saw another for sale in a front yard in Maine some years back. Then there's the ES at the boatyard and another we know in West Texas.

Novy in Camden.

Camden harbor, last week. The purple hull is a Novy, which are the stouthearted lobster boats of Nova Scotia, where the coast is a lot bolder and the seas a lot bigger than the relatively tranquil inshore fishery along the coast of Maine. That's a Gloucester Gull dory, with the red stripe.
