1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon with an LT1 V-8

We admire GM's whale wagons of the 1990s. This example is up for auction at Hemmings in a few hours. And here's a wounded whale we saw in Somerville, MA this winter. Another Roadmaster in Beverly, MA. And a fine specimen of Buick's cetacean wagon in Blue Hill, Maine.

1938 DeSoto

I'm guessing the precise year but not the era. 1930s was all about Art Deco, and this car certainly owns that sleek, air-flowing style. At Motorland in Arundel, Maine.

1960 Mercury Monarch Lucerne

From Alex Emond: Just back from a week in Saskatchewan . In Gleichen, Alberta I sneaked into a back yard for a quick shot of this big Kryptonite-coloured ride–a 1960(?) Mercury Monarch Lucerne, of all things. What the hell? I saw the Chrysler (below) in Gleichen,  a post-war behemoth with a grill that makes me think of Chicago, not a village in Blackfoot country.  The row of retired farm trucks (below) was just a few minutes west of Gleichen. Out to pasture...that big Reo has to be fairly rare. On the way out of town, heading east, a mid-fifties GMC school bus. Looks like an early effort at a "camper". Has potential. It's always worth swinging off the highway to snoop around.

1956 Nash Ambassador Super

Saw the car at Motorland  in Arundel, Maine. They have a look, don't they? A weirdness. Know as 'bathtubs', back in the day . Sure ain't no Chevy.

1987 Dodge Power Ram

From Reid Cunningham: Bedford NH. "My best guess is '86 or '87 for this Power Ram pickup. The upper chrome strip from headlight to taillight, along with the roof gutter trim look like aftermarket additions. These Dodges seem like the last trucks with hood ornaments (I found pictures of 1991 Dodge trucks that still have the ram ornament), Ford and GM had updated trucks without them years before. Hood ornaments, extra chrome trim and pinstripes are dress-up items that have long disappeared from trucks. With spring approaching and longer days, more old iron is sneaking out for us all to enjoy."AL: maybe our favorite Dodge is this earlier Power Wagon 150 in, of all places, Cambridge MA.

Willeme Trucks

From Don Green Culbertson, in northern France. "Willem trucks: established 1920s, bankrupt 1970. They were manufactured in Nanterre, outside of Paris. Known as postwar heavy hauling trucks; used as tanker/oil field hauling trucks, they could pull loads of 200 tons. These examples were spotted outside Rouen."

AL: One Willeme  for sale here.

1967 Fiat 1500 Pininfarina Cabriolet

The style of Italian cars of that era...clean and simple. Così elegante! We caught the 1500 at Motorland in Arundel, Maine. Don't believe is is for sale, though...Speaking of style, maybe the most beautiful car ever: the Lancia Flaminia we posted a while back.

1965 Land Rover Series IIA 109

Born Free! Just what you'd need for bouncing across the veldt with your lioness. And it's on the block at Hemmings.

Land Rover Defender. There Are Issues.

From Markus Anstadt, in Denver: "I spotted this RHD Defender at a regular neighborhood repair shop in Denver. Appears to be a wheel, brake or suspension issue." Markus caught another RHD Land Rover in Denver a while back.
