1959 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop

Something flat-out crazy about the 1959 GM flattops. The cat's-eye Chevy version is maybe the wildest of these American dream machines. This 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air sedan is on the block today at Hemmings. We posted a 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible cruising in the Bay Area a while back. And a 1959 Chevrolet El Camino up in Vermont; another '59 El Camino tucked into an underground garage in Banff, Alberta. Also this 1959 Chevrolet Impala coupe spotted in Cambridge MA.

1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Custom

From Jonathan Welsh: "This was the first year of the seventh generation of the Olds 88, which began with the 1949 model. General Motors redesigned the 88 and the rest of its large B-body cars for '71 and made them a bit bigger. This lovely example, which looked original, not restored, turned up in Clifton, N.J."

1992 Dodge Ram 150

Cap's just right for the era. Dodge trucks of this period--another example here, as a Power Wagon 150--were cleaner and simpler in style than the bulksters that followed beginning in '94. Caught this example in early spring, out on Naskeag Point.

1948 Mercury M-47

From Motorland: "Canada's version of the popular Ford F1 pick up truck. Originally sold new in Quebec. Later sold to a farmer in Vermont who was going to hot rod it with his son. Sadly, the son died in the Vietnam War and the father left the truck covered in the barn for 32 years. Finally, the farmer sold it to a logger in Norwich, Vermont in 1971. Restored in the late 1980s-early 1990s. The Mercury M-Series WAs a series of pickup trucks marketed by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company. Produced from 1946 to 1968, the Mercury M-Series was sold primarily in Canada, as a rebadged version of the Ford F-Series. In 1946, Ford of Canada split its Ford and Lincoln/Mercury divisions into separate sales networks. Alongside the creation of the Monarch and Meteor sub-brands, Ford of Canada introduced trucks to the Mercury division. At the time, few rural communities offered both the Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealership networks, miniminizing model overlap and allowing for greater coverage for potential truck buyers. To differentiate Ford and Mercury trucks, Mercury added a brand-specific grille and slightly different exterior and interior trim. In 1948, following the introduction of the Ford F-Series, Mercury adopted the use of the "M" prefix (M=Mercury). AL: We caught a great M-3 truck a while back in Nova Scotia..

1967 Fiat 1500 Cabriolet Convertible (by Pininfarina)

Caught the beautiful burgundy thing at Motorland in Arundel, Maine.  Most of the Fiats on AL are different editions of the 500. We have also posted on the Fiat S76 land-speed-record car...maybe as close to steampunk as you'll ever find in an automobile.

1994 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4

Brattle Street, Cambridge MA. I ride by this truck almost every day. Had a snowplow strapped on until well into April. A very truckish truck. Incongruous in the neighborhood, a couple blocks from Harvard Square–though there is that red Power Wagon not far away, a favorite of ours. The black fenders are aftermarket.

1941 Plymouth Sedan

From Alex Emond: Here's a Banff car recently restored and registered. I see it out on Sunday drives. The poet Jim Christy has written about a '39 Plymouth.

1961 International B-140 All-Wheel Drive

From Reid Cunningham:"Sometimes when you are a bit behind schedule and still have 4 hours of driving to go, you see something by the side of the road that just demands you stop. This was in Woodford Hollow, VT.  Only one year older, and the same asking price as the Golden Hawk I saw last week–but the two vehicles couldn't be more different.  The PTO driven winch is massive; it looks capable of dragging the whole truck up a cliff. The original straight 6, with proper care, should run forever."  AL: we've posted many Internationals, like this 1960 B100 from Vancouver. Try our search widget to see more.

1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

Saw the car on the road between Augusta and Belfast, Maine. For sale, the sign says--see below. That would be 207 area code. We posted a 1971 Cutlass a few weeks back. If you go to that car you'll find a bunch more Cutlass links. And here's a 1973 Oldsmobile whale wagon.
