Inspirations

Here are a few things inspiring me at the moment…

I’m loving me some Metric. Can’t get enough. Must be Amanda’s new vulnerability. Also, The Veils are cool, in that continually retro 80s way…

And, finally, I’ll cut someone if I don’t get to see the new Bret Easton Ellis movie…

Seriously.

What’s inspiring your work?

Norwescon Wrap-up and a Question

Good times this past weekend were had in the airport shanty known as Seatac (named, presumably, because it’s midway between Seattle and Tacoma, though there’s a town called Midway in there too, so…). Norwescon ran smooth as silk and parking was a breeze this year with a secondary lot and shuttle system that was the best addition of all.

I sat on a number of panels with old friends and people I hadn’t met but will certainly seek out in the future, among them Brenda Cooper, Josh Palmatier, Gordon

Norwescon Topics and Vlogging in General

I should probably put a rating on these posts but I won’t.  Anyone that knows me is used to my foul mouth, the books aren’t exactly clean, so…

I tried to post this yesterday and something fouled up, so here we go again.

I’m new to the idea of vlogging, and I’m trying to be spontaneous rather than write up a script.  But eventually I’ll run out of things to talk about (or things I’m willing to talk about–I know that seems odd coming from me, but I actually do have some limits).

So, a question: what

Only Just Back…

And I’m off again.  Tonight starts the Seattle area’s big fan convention, Norwescon.  Last year there were 3000 attendees and lots of bizarro photo ops.  So expect more on this.

If you’re coming out for the big show, make sure to swing by a panel, my reading or the signing on Saturday.  Here’s where I’ll be…

What’s it like to start and maintain a friendship with another writer? How about rivalry? Collaboration? What part is played by professional adm

Vlogging Again? Stop Me!

Didn’t quite reach my 5000 word goal, but I’ll take the 12 pages.  Not bad, for still recovering from Dallas.  Anyway, I transcribed some stuff tonight and came across a thought I had on the plane.  Then I had to vlog it. Cuz the new computer (I gots one) has a camera and mic, so I’m vaulting my vulgarity into the future…or the present.

So here you go.  Sleepy storytelling at its finest…

And the new Ladytrons! Sort of relevant in that it’s crazy!

Hell to Pay and Activia, also.

To have another wild weekend following on the heels of the Paranormal Bender Tour (which I realize has not been properly memorialized in a follow-up travelogue, but such is deadline) may have been more than I could take. I’m zombified, but I’ll try to keep at least the appearance of cohesion in this little log.

First up, and I can’t stress this enough, I’ve lost 40 pounds since New Years, so that resolution can kiss my bony ass. But! I never really see the pounds like other people do, I feel t

Alright Peeps…

I’m outta here.  Flying out to Dallas tomorrow for the Dreamin’ in Dallas Conference, which is going to be a wicked and wholly inappropriate good time.  I think it’s sold out, but the book fair is open to all on Friday night, so plan on attending that little shindig, there’ll likely be bar hopping after if you’re brave enough to horn in on it.  I’m game for hanging with just about anyone, as long as you don’t mind me being vulgar.

Tomorrow night, Jaye Wells and I will be tearing up Legacy Books l

My Sisters! Also: Come Talk to Me!

It’s great to pimp out your friends.  It feels good and we authors need that, I guess.  Makes us feel like we’re useful, beyond simply entertaining.  Today, I’d like to do something a little different.  I’d like to talk about three ladies–who it just so happens have books out today, but that’s beside the point.

I have this idea in my head that if I meet an author, I’ll buy their book, just as a professional courtesy, particularly midlist authors.  It’s my thing.  I try to read them all, but becau

It’s a Travelogue!

That’s right. I’m the last one to chime in on the Paranormal Bender Tour. But wait! I have excuses

1. Blogging doesn’t really fit into my busy napping schedule (count ‘em two naps, three hours each, in a 36 hour period, along with 9 hours of regular sleep). I’m still not caught up.

2. My website kicked my ass for 6 hours today (you try recreating a start page and all your widgets from memory).

3. I’ve been terribly busy hating the neighbor kid and his repetitive noisemaking. It’s like he’s aut
