Close Friend (2021)

 I'm not much for anthologies, but Close Friend is only 4 couples, and with season 2 they detailed 2 out of 4 of those couples, and lucky me, one of them was my favorite, Jedi and Ray. Ray is a barista and a huge fan of idol Jedi, who sometime comes take coffee at his workplace. In private, Ray has a virtual machine and he can interact with an hologram of Jedi, who, after a bit, start to seem way to much real. In the meantime, Typhoon and Pierce, already a couple, start to have some misunderstanding when Typhoon does not come out at work, and treats him more like a roommate than a boyfriend. Close Friend s2 focus on Jedi and Ray, and here the thrope of famous male lead who has to conquer the public opinion to be able to have an HEA with his ordinary man partner is perfectly played. Choco Milk Shake (2022)

 Choco Milk Shake was cute. A contemporary fantasy romance, they didn't want to spend too much time explaining how Choco, a dog, and Milk, a cat, were able to come back to the real world in human form to console Jung Woo, their previous owner. Even if this is a fantasy, there are no other fantasy elements, no special effects, and the series is mostly played in the small, and ordinary, apartment of Jung Woo, and in the small, and ordinary, café of Uncle (who is indeed the uncle of Jung Woo). Strange as it's, I really didn't catch when Jung Woo and Choco fell in love, I didn't see the evolution of their story, while instead I liked the sweet and burgeoning love story of Uncle and Milk. As I said, the plot does not explain how Choco and Milk arrive, why and how long they are here, and why they have to go back. As it's, they don't explain what they have to do to come back and why it's limited. So yes, maybe a little more time spent on details of the story would make this cute series better. HEA. Call It What You Want (2021)

 I save Call It What You Want just for the couple of Bas and Marco, and even them, with reserve. This series is basically bad, and I wonder why there was a second season. The budget is low, the cinematography is bad, the actors are stiff. Moreover, sorry if I'm flimsy, but the actor doing James is totally unattractive to me, and that baseball cap instead of being quircky or sexy (as they wanted to make us believe) is annoying and totally not sexy. As I said, I save it for Bas and Marco, but even them have big holes in the plot. For example Bas' suicide attempt was totally dealt in the wrong way. And in the last scene, when they are at the conference, everyone is asking for Bas, and he is among the crowd, and no one notice him? And what was doing Marco asking that question? and when they aired (?) the audio nothing of incriminating was in it, why everyone was soo shocked? So yes, even the screenwriting was quite bad. HEA. Big Dragon (2022)

 Big Dragon started with a bang but then, for me, it didn't delivered what I was expecting. The chemistry between Yai and Mangkorn is undeniable, and, as I said, the first scene was very sexy. But the morning after, Both Yai and Mangkorn are doing a 180°, and from sexy strangers they become two goofy college student (ok maybe more Yai, but Mangkorn is not far from it). Instead of having the story of two ruthless businessmen fighting for the top position (pun intended), this is the ordinary story of two college students facing the ordinary trouble of a same-sex relationship. Not bad, but not was I was expecting. HEA. You can see it on GagaOOLala, iQIYI and Viki. Heat Level: 6/6.

Candy Color Paradox (2022)

 Candy Color Paradox was good, but I was a little bit disappointed it was not so sexy. Let me explain better, there was a lot of sexy undercurrents between Satoshi Onoe and Motoharu Kaburagi, and that first kiss was so good, that I was totally expecting something more. It didn't happen, even if there were all the other elements I like, the strong male lead, the apparently weaker counterpart that will prove to be as strong as the other, the sexy vibes between them... so I was fine, even if I did miss a little bit the intimacy, it was like they gave me a spicy appetizer to follow with a plain meal. By chance I stumbled upon a short anime about these two, and I can tell you, in the original manga the meal is spicy, almost hot. Anyway, good one, among the Japanese production I like. HEA. 609 Bedtime Story (2022)

 609 Bedtime Story was quite difficult to understand. So basically we have Mum and Dew living in the same room but in parallel worlds. When Mum crosses the figurative wall dividing them, Mum has no memories of Dew, while Dew knows Mum and has sex with him. The next morning Dew is killed by a masked man. When Mum awakes in his world, he wants to understand who Dew is and how to avoid for him to be killed. In the end they understand that meeting after meeting, Mum is moving on in his time, therefore collecting info and memories of Dew, while Dew is moving back, therefore everytime losing memories of Mum. To make things complicated, Mum meets another Dew in his world, while we discovered that Dew already knows another Mum in his own world. Despite being sort of complex and in the end, more thriller than romance, I enjoyed this series. For the first time, I wasn't so much annoyed by the character played by "Fluke" Natouch Siripongthon, usually he is this meak male lead, overwhelmed by the event. Here is not really different, but in the end his character will prove to be able to take the right decision. There is an HEA for one of the couple, but not for the other, even if it's not a tragedy. Stay Still (2023)

 Stay Still is conveying the mood of the story with the lightning, while the three couples (2 gay, 1 hetero) are struggling with their relationship, the setting is mostly night and gloomy, and instead, when they manage to resolve their conflict, it's day and sunny, one of the first time we see all three of them in the open, like they break free of the ropes binding them. The two gay couples are nice, neighbors Damian and Hayden representing the gay for you thrope, with Damian having an interest in a man for the first time; Kelvin and Archie are the starcrossed high school students romance, with Kelvin moving on, marry but now stuck in a unfulfilling relationship, and Archie, who just got engaged but throw everything out the window when he meets Kelvin again. The series is not bad, but it was a little bit too much gloomy for my taste. It has a HEA, so that is good. You can see it on GagaOOLala. Heat Level: 4/6.

Night Dream (2023)

 Night Dream has not an original plot, but it has interesting, and cute, actors playing the leads. I wanted really to like this one better than I do. My problem with this one is that it was confusing, and I didn't like how the main characters dragged on on confessing their feelings, and when they did, instead of a positive reaction, we have one character lashing out to the other, leading to the ordinary, but dreadful, separation before the HEA. So , yes, this series is all about the love story, but the love story wasn't well developed, and above all, it followed the cliché I mostly don't like. HEA. Heat Level: 3/6.

Naughty Babe (2023)

 If I have to be true, I preferred the couple Khondiao and Yi to the main couple already in Cutie Pie, so I liked Naughty Babe. I have a preference for romantic comedy, where reality is not really important and Naughty Babe fits the description. The reason why Khondiao and Yi are together, in the end, is not really important, but they naughty courtship of these two is an enjoyable romp and it will help you forget reality for the day or so it will take you to see it. Aloof male lead (my preferred) with cute, but clever, boy. HEA. You can see it on iQIYI. Heat Level: 5/6.

My Universe (2023)

 It's difficult to write a coherent review for My Universe, because, even if they share some common characters, these are basically 12 stories of 90 minutes each. You can easily watch just one or two of them and not losing anything of the story told within the 90 minutes. Also the acting is quite different, the stories ranges from pure comedy to drama. The cinematography is sometime bad, this is probably a low budget production, but sometime you don't notice it. I liked Casanova Begins, Marry Go Round, You Are My Soul Mate, Lucky Love. Enjoyed Right Time, Right You, Fake Love (even if idea was good, but plot was all over the place). You can see it on iQIYI. Heat Level: 4/6.
