Quick note
Hello friends!
I just wanted to post a quick note and apologize for being M.I.A.
I was invited to join 4 other authors in a series, so the 2 WIPs were tabled until "Beyond Lace" was complete. The series, Hard Men of the Rockies, goes on pre-sale in July. I'll keep you posted.
However, speaking of "Beyond Lace", I want your opinion. I'm sending out my newsletter in 10 days. In it, I will include an excerpt of the book. Only those subscribed to my newsletter will see the excerpt and give their editorial opinion.
Visit: http://www.mialondon.com/Contact.html to sign up for my newsletter.
I can't wait to get your feedback.
Happy reading and thanks for being loyal to romance!
Hugs!

Love is in the air!
Hello dear readers!
Happy Valentine's Day!
I want to share a few thoughts with you about this day of love. I know some of you are over it. You might believe it's a Hallmark holiday, too commercial, or whatever.
I think to a certain extent that may be true, but if we look at the upside, Valentine's provides a wonderful opportunity for people who aren't overly romantic or affectionate to "step up to the plate".
Married folks, how often do you date your spouse? It’s been said that we need to continue to date our spouses, even after we're married. Given that the majority of Americans fall short on that front, Valentine's (as well as birthdays and anniversaries) gives couples a great excuse to date. Pure and simple.
Please know that this doesn't always have to mean going out. If you can get a sitter and restaurant reservations--perfect. If not, cook something at home for your mate. Something you know they will enjoy. Men, you can do this, too. Pull out a table cloth and cloth napkins. Light a candle on the table. Hell, light a few candles around the house.
Next topic, the present. I am a huge fan of flowers and dark chocolate-covered strawberries. Some women are partial to jewelry. The idea is to think about something your spouse would enjoy, not what *you* want them to have.
And no, you don't have to spend a lot of money. How great would it be if you were eating a dinner your honey just cooked, and in the background played music he/she selected that you would enjoy. A mixed tape, just for you. Do you remember the song you danced to at your wedding? Maybe a song you both enjoyed while you were dating?
Not married, but been together a long time? The rules still apply. :) Have fun. Enjoy each other. Listen to a story about when your partner was young. Ask questions on random subjects you have no idea what the answer is. Get creative. Romance takes many forms, does it not?
Have a fabulous weekend!
All my best!
Mia

Happy Holidays!
Hello!
Happy holidays! I hope this note finds you happy and healthy!
First and foremost--a big congratulations to Nancy Ku of Clearwater, Florida for winning the $100 Macy's gift card for submitting her book review. To all who did the same, thank you very much! We authors appreciate the feedback; it helps us become better writers!
Next, if you haven't seen it, I am giving away 2 signed copies of Life To The Max (in US and Canada) here, on Goodreads. The contest goes through January 31st. Good luck!
Lastly, I thought I'd give you a little idea of what I'm working on now. I received feedback from a few of you about doing a story on Piper (from Max), so that's what I'm doing. Piper is a fun, no-nonsense woman who will tell you what she thinks but never means to offend. And although she looks like a centerfold, she's smart as whip. I will have Piper's novella (a prequel to Max) out next year.
Also, next year I will release a stand-alone (called Accidental Tryst) about a couple on the verge of divorce. I am learning so much, it's almost scary.
I hope you will enjoy both of these new stories as much I.
Have a blessed New Year!
Thanks for being loyal to romance!

Inspired to write
Hello friends!
I have long believed that we all have a book in us--fiction or non-fiction. Maybe a how-to or a children's book. Some folks may have even started to write but stopped because they felt the story wasn't good enough or wouldn't sell. My advice to people who are even remotely interested, keep writing. You can edit later--much later if you really need space from your work. Maybe you have no intention of publishing your manuscript. That's fine too. Just continue to write. It's good for your brain and good for the soul.
Early on in my writing career, I had a document of random thoughts, phrases and scenes that I would enter for future use. Anytime I hear of a name of a person or some word/phase I liked, I'd add it to my document. Sometimes I would cut a scene from a manuscript I was working on, but didn't completely trash it. No. I would simply paste it into my "notes" document for possible future use. So now I have a 24-page, dynamic document for use when I write and to give me inspiration. You never know what's gonna work for you.
Have a terrific week!

The Texas Heat
Hi friends!
I'm updating my blog briefly before getting some work done. Summer is in full force in Texas now, and I like to work before it gets too hot.
Luckily, I had a break from the heat recently--a very pleasant break. We had friends who bought a box at the U2 concert in Chicago. What a blast!
U2 was awesome (as you might have expected). They sang a good mix of their old stuff with their new stuff. Bono's voice was in fine form. But my fav part was when they brought some fans on stage. During some random interviews before the show, the band learned of fans who had particular interests in the band or a talent. It warmed my heart, I cannot tell you! Something like that makes the band feel less untouchable, right?
Anyway, back to work and back to writing.
I'd love to hear from you. Ask any question you wish. And remember to live each day to the max!
Hugs!

A great, old house
Hi friends!
When I began working on Lauren's story, I knew two things for sure. One, Lauren would meet someone and fall in love. It wouldn't be easy because he would undoubtedly be Parisian and she, of course, had roots in America. The other thing I knew was that Paris would captivate Lauren. She dreamed of going to Paris, like we all do at some time or another. She would love the history, the architecture, the food, the shopping.
As you read, Perfect Surrender, you will learn about Aunt Rosie's house. Rosie was a carefree, adventurous woman who bought a large, old house outside of Paris. During my research, I stumbled onto this picture that was the inspiration for Aunt Rosie's house.
Enjoy!
I love to hear from my readers. Drop me a line anytime!
Have a blessed day!

Dust, dust everywhere!
Hi friends!
Recently, my husband and I did some remodeling. We took up tile and carpet and had real hardwood floors laid. And since the cabinetry was dark, like the floor, we had them painted a warm white. We had to empty every cabinet and the pantry closet too. Both projects went on at the same time. Geez, did we underestimate the interruption! The flooring installation created so much dust. Dust could be found in rooms that had nothing going on!
My recommendation, if you do something like this, expect dust everywhere. Remove the drapes, wall art, anywhere air can get, dust can too. Protect what is sacred.
The good news is that we love the finished product. It feels fresh--almost like a new house.
I know one day we will look back on all this hassle and laugh.
(And I'm quite certain, I'll work it into a book someday.)
Have a blessed day!

Happy spring!
I am ready for spring! I'm ready for sunny skies, green grass and flowers in bloom. I'm ready to eat outside without it being too hot or too cold.
On to a writing update. I hope you are enjoying Perfect Seduction and Perfect Surrender. They are on sale through the end of March, so grab your copy if you haven't already.
I am currently working on a prequel to Life to the Max. It will be Piper's story. She is a fun, sassy character, and I knew I had to do at least a novella about her. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
Send messages my way. I'd love to hear from you!
Best wishes!
