Fifty Shades of fantastic!

Hey friends!

Have you seen the movie or are you waiting for the crowds to die down?
I bought my ticket last month. I showed up an hour early for the first showing Thursday with BFF in tow. I'm smitten.
I knew Dakota was going to be great. (Wish I had her lips.) In my eyes, she definitely has that Pygmalion potential. I've heard rumblings from some that they needed to cast someone prettier. I think she's quite pretty, but can also play "girl next door". Do you see it?
I was pleasantly surprised that (to the extent they could), they kept true to the book.
Now, just like the books, this is just one of three. So it begs the question- when will be see the next installment.
I'm on the edge of my seat!

Have a blessed week!
Mia

Halloween costumes

Hi y'all!
So I had a surprising moment with my daughter this weekend. She came up to me and said, "Mom, we need to order my Halloween costume." Normally, that's not a big deal, but she's in the 8th grade. I can't remember when I stopped trick-or-treating, but a part of me wonders if the eighth grade is pushing it. How old is too old for trick-or-treating?
BTW- my October contest is 3 signed copies of Max on LibraryThing. http://www.librarything.com/er/giveaw...
Good luck!
Take care!
Mia

Happy Sunday!

So my husband lost his wedding ring. I know what you're thinking, but that's not the case. I was there. In fact we know where it is--in the reclining, tilt and swivel chair. He loves that chair. He reached down in between the arm and the seat cushion, and the chair swallowed his ring. I suspect I'll need to call the manufacturer to find out how best to retrieve it.
My little guy asked if that meant we were no longer married. Kids say the darnedest things. The interesting thing is that is birthday is coming up. What a great opportunity to buy him another ring. Maybe something with a little more pizzazz, instead of the basic gold band I bought for him years ago (when money was tighter). Some day we'll look back on this and laugh.

Have a great day!

out of the gate!

This is my first official blog. (You can stop laughing now.) I'm a writer, and not much of a blogger. So here it is--my attempt to reach out to the world at large. I will try to share interesting, useful or just funny insights. So today I will just leave you with a quote: “A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
Have a rockin day!
