Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written/want to write?
I'm a writer, a wife, and a mom. I've published two books thus far. I have another book coming out in the fall. I hope to publish a contemporary romance next year.
What Genre do you write, and what genre do you enjoy reading?
Deni1 copyI like to think of myself as a multi-genre author.I write romantic mysteries, romantic suspense, paranormal romance, Gothic romance, contemporary romance... etc. For instance, my new release, The Darkest Frost, Volume 1, is a Gothic paranormal romance serial with elements of suspense and mystery. Volume 2 will be coming out in the fall. My debut novel, Within Temptation was a romantic contemporary mystery. So I like to mix and match genres. It keeps things interesting.

As for reading, I'm about the same. I'll read just about anything except sci-fi and fantasy. Strangely, some of my favorite TV shows and movies are sci-fi and fantasy. Go figure. :-)

Me: I like that, so effectively, you are a Romance writer with a flair for whatever works! YAY

What is the name of your latest book/s and what inspired it?
The Darkest Frost, Volume 1 is coming out on June 22nd.
It wasn't one thing that inspired it really. It was a number of things. Characters like Gerard Butler's Dracula, Adrian Paul's Highlander, Leonard Nimoy's Mr. Spock, Wentworth Miller's Michael Scofield. Jane Eyre's Mr. Rochester and Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Darcy...etc. It was a mish mash.

I've always been fascinated by the dark, brooding, hero archetypes, so I asked myself what would happen if I paired one with a woman who had a psychic gift. But not just any psychic gift. One that would give her a unique window into him. And that's how Denieve (Deni) Knight, my psychic heroine came about. I got the idea about her gift from a Star Trek episode called "The Empath." Well, Deni isn't really an empath. She can't psychically absorb injuries or pain, but she can read a person's intent, or true emotions, which makes her a great lie detector. It also helps her deal with a man who's walled himself in physically and emotionally. Only someone like her would have the wherewithal and tools to tear down my hero's walls.

Me: I hear you, I had to take it one step further and marry one! Most of my males [even the support ones] are based on aspects of my husband!
