Mobile & Pictures

Fair be it to say, the only reason I’ve ever started using my mobile, is because of the ability to take pictures with it. Nothing professional, often things that inspires me and rarely a care of ‘quality’.

And yes, for the observant, there’s a trend among the things I hastily snap! Nature – Nature motivates me beyond anything else. Rarely do I need anything more than a gorgeous sunrise (or set), a pretty flower, a bird, grass with raindrops, to put me in a fabulous mood.

The nature of my pictures will change, but for the sake of documentation and prosperity … Here are a few I’ve collected and still use as my ‘go-to’ when the pressure of ‘peopling’ gets too much.
Enjoy!

Leaving The Rat-Race

Looking around our room we’ve been renting, I’m not going to lie: I’ll miss this. The comforts and luxury of a warm bed, shops close by, tech at our fingertips … Oh, the bitter-sweetness of modern living; so deliberate, so habitual!

All my life, I’ve done things in an unconventional manner. I act first and think on my feet. Hardly do I spend time planning. This does not mean I don’t think about it A LOT before I act – well, sometimes it means exactly that.

Then: August 2018, my husband of 23 years told me he is done being married. I suppose I saw it coming really. Our marriage wasn’t terrible by any measure or means – It was just … comfortable. Like that old pair of shoes you know you’ve outworn, but you still wear them because they’re yours, and you love them.

This was the time we mutually decided to move on. And by ‘we’ I mean me. I moved out and after nearly 12 years of not working, the entire job-market and arena was foreign to me.

Nevertheless, I woke up one morning, decided ‘I’m out’ and left within 24 hours of making up my mind. Then, as now, I had no idea where I’ll be going, what I’ll be doing, or how I’ll survive.

But I did.

Learning new skills as a care-worker was fantastic. The work was hard, the hours long and the money … Well, that was very little. Still, I felt free and enabled.

Now: After accepting a 0 hour contract (but with promise of 21 hours a week) with a local residential old-age home, the world started nagging at me. For years, I’ve entertained the idea of just packing up and sodding off. Go where the wind takes me, live where the world dumps me. The longer I stayed in this job, the louder the voices in my head protested. Seeing the elderly in such an environment (good as it was!) really nagged at me. I started thinking about my own old age (I’m 46, it’s not far off!)

When the company made changes to their schedules and regimes, and I found myself without working hours, the stuborn idea pushed forward again. I’m without money – AGAIN. I’m without a home – AGAIN. I’m trapped in a cycle of work to eat and have a home – AGAIN. I hated it.

So, approaching my partner I pitched the idea to him. My options were:
Get another job, or silence those damn voices!

On Sun 26 May 2019, I worked my last scheduled shift. That night, Alex told me “Let’s do it – what do we have to lose?” It took a while for me to let it sink in, and then I got out of bed and sat down by my PC.

In a few days, I’ve connected with the right people to give me advice. I’ve packed up and cleared our bedroom out. I’ve found a destination and I’ve ordered (with my very last dime) all the tools and equipment needed to go wildcamping. I’ve spend HOURS, DAYS, doing research and organizing things and on Thurday, June 6 2019, we’re leaving our home and all the luxuries behind to go and ‘live wild’ in Wales.

More honesty: I do not know how this will end. Maybe we can’t hack it and return back to the working world. Maybe we’ll discover we aren’t equiped or cut out for this. Maybe our relationship won’t stand this test in time.

Whatever happens from here on out, I have but one thing to say about it no matter the outcome:

NO

About Snowdonia, Penygroes, Wales

Snowdonia National Park – Our Wild Home: Situated on the west coast of Britain covering 823 square miles of diverse landscapes, Snowdonia National Park is a living working area, home to over 26,000 people. As well as being the largest National Park in Wales, Snowdonia boasts the highest mountain in England and Wales, and the largest natural lake in Wales, as well as a wealth of picturesque villages like Betws y Coed and Beddgelert. Snowdonia is an area steeped in culture and local history, where more than half its population speak Welsh. [image error]

PenyGroes: Our base of operation, is a village in Gwynedd, Wales. The village is located to the south of Caernarfon, and north of Porthmadog, by the A487 road.

Penygroes’ population stands at 1,793 at the 2011 census, of which 88% are Welsh-speaking, making it one of the most predominantly Welsh-speaking areas of the country.

The population of Llanllyfni community which includes Penygroes and Talysarn, is 4,135 according to the 2011 census.
Penygroes is located in the former slate quarrying area of Dyffryn Nantlle, although most of the quarries are now closed down. However, it remains the valley’s main shopping and administrative centre. Its biggest employer is a paper-converting plant producing hand tissues and toilet rolls.

It lies in the community of Llanllyfni, and nearby villages are Carmel, Talysarn, Nantlle, Tanrallt, Nebo, and Groeslon.

It is the site of the area’s comprehensive school, Ysgol Dyffryn
Nantlle (opera star Bryn Terfel’s old school), and football team Nantlle
Vale F.C., which used to be managed by the professional wrestler and
promoter Orig Williams, better known by his ring name of “El Bandito”.
The club’s former social complex has in recent years been demolished,
and a brand new police station and arrest suite now occupies the site.
As of a 2015 local council report 84% of the school’s pupils come from
primarily Welsh-speaking households.[3]

The cycle path Lôn Eifion
passes near the village, following the route of the former
Carnarvonshire Railway, which ran from Caernarfon to Afon Wen and closed
in 1964.

Penygroes lies by the edge of Lord Newborough’s former
estate at Glynllifon, from which several medieval legends have emanated.
The character Lleu Llaw Gyffes, who features in the ages-old legends of
the Mabinogi (sometimes inaccurately referred to as the Mabinogion),
was said to have lived in the area. The Iron Age hillfort at Dinas
Dinlleu and the village of Nantlle—originally spelt as Nantlleu—are said
to have been named after him.

Notable residents include the poets R. Williams Parry and Mathonwy Hughes, the popular contemporary actor and singer Bryn Fôn, the Labour politician and former MP Betty Williams and the academic Dafydd Glyn Jones.[image error]

Poetry| Writing on the wall, by A.S

I write the pictures of my stories,

in the cracks of paint on the walls,

hiding my metaphors under the mould,

along with cliches and purple prose.

It isn’t a pretty sight when I write,

it isn’t tidy and neat

or grammatically complete,

because I scratch at the foundation,

of literary indignation,

for my subordination .

But the words are defiant,

while my fingers bleed more lives

to fill the spaces

in the cracks of paint on the walls …

Where I write the pictures of my stories.

What’s behind the door?

[image error] Adri Sinclair – Digital Artist & Writer

Dear you,

By the time you read this, I would have gone through THE DOOR already.

Do not come look for me as I guess no matter what awaits me on the other side …

It can only be better than what is here …

I’d say I’ll miss you, but I won’t.

I’d say I’ll survive, but I do not know that either.

All I can say, is that it isn’t bravery, nor curiosity, that made me do it …

It is you. ALL of you.

I’m not sorry.

Yours Sincerely

Adri.

Author, Scott A. Borgman

Scott A. Borgman, Multi-Genre Author on Amazon

Scott Arend Borgman was born in Robinsdale, Minnesota on Sept. 19, 1975, the only son to Harry and Jeannie Borgman, and younger brother to Kristie Borgman. After living in several small towns during the early years of his childhood, they moved to the small community of Oelwein, Iowa. Always an imaginative child, Scott discovered at an early age he had a natural gift for writing and spent countless hours in his bedroom writing short stories. He continued to take every opportunity to write through high school, taking English classes, Creative Writing, and was on his high school newspaper – his first year as a reporter and then as the News Editor.

After high school, Scott was encouraged to write for a newspaper, a magazine, or to do something in television. But that wasn’t the kind of writing he wanted to do, and so his first year in college, he set aside his pen and majored in Criminal Justice at St. Cloud State University. After only a year, he transferred schools and took up Computer Science instead. It was then that he met his wife, Nicola, on an online game.

Rather than continue his education, Scott moved out to Virginia and got a job at a local grocery store. A year later they were married, and also welcomed their first child, DeAnna.

“As an author, I breathe life into each and every character within the stories that I write.

       Awards
Scott has received multiple awards for several of his books which include 5-Star review awards from Readers’ Favorite for Province of a Thief, The Exiled: Continuation, and The Exiled: Infinity. The first book in the trilogy, The Exiled received a Finalist award from the Independent Author Network (IAN), and The Exiled Trilogy, a special Collector’s Edition which bundles all three books in the trilogy together, received an Official Selection award from New Apple.

Poet, Kay Gardner

Poetry by Kay Gardner on Amazon

Kay Gardner is a poet all the time, sometimes to the dismay of those around her who will become the object of the vacant stare she calls “there’s a poem in my head and i gotta get it out!” She has an ongoing poetry series at Channillo.com entitled “trees like paintbrushes,” and is working on an illustrated poetry collection, as well as continuing to write haiku and micropoetry.

She’s in love with words, her cats, really good coffee, and is a sucker for a well-crafted line. She’s also a bit of a grammar nazi, which serves her well in proofreading others’ works.

Aside from her books here, you can find Kay’s poetry in the anthologies, “If We Painted a Canvas,” “Poetry Without Borders,” and “Figure in the Mist;” on Spillwords, Scriggler, and Better Than Starbucks.
