Movie Review: Spectre
I recently saw the latest James Bond movie, Spectre. This is the trailer:
The premise of the movie is relevant to the current epoch we live in. There is a movement to consolidate intelligence networks throughout the world, and as might be expected, the bad guys are the ones advocating for it. James Bond comes off at times as a morally neutral character, making quick decisions without considering the consequences and whether his actions are helping the situation or making them worse. The bad gu...

Book Review: Alchemy of Air

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Overall, I enjoyed Alchemy of Air and the examination of the Haber-Bosch process and its impact on the world. The book raised a lot of interesting questions on the utility and consequences of fixing nitrogen from the air. Though, the premise of the book is a bit melodramatic. The author claims that over 2 billion people are a...

Book Review: Cross Academy

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Cross Academy is a story that takes place in the distant future and centers on Fox and her journey protecting her best friend and fighting demons. There are a lot of layers to this story, parts are filled with action, fighting demons, and there is a part of the story that takes place at Cross Academy where the students fight against each other in a Hunger Games-like style. This story also touches on philosophy and religion as the characte...

Es una ciudad sin limites. Lo que pasa es la calle 9 de julio tiene un ancho grande, es una calle sin salida. Yo caminaba hacia al centro de la ciudad y de repente lo ví. Era la verdad, era un marvulsoso sitio. Me sentaba, me relejaba, pensaba y continuaba. Esto es Buenos Aires...

Ataco
Ataco in November 2015. I was driving on the Ruta de Flores on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and made a final stop in Ataco. It was a typical charming colonial style town in the mountains of El Salvador.A photo posted by K Kumar (@sicstrap) on Nov 15, 2015 at 3:00pm PST

Puente Peatonal Condell
In between Plaza Baquedano and Bellavista, there is a puente, bridge:
It is called Puente Peatonal Condell, and what is most fascinating are the number of padlocks secured to one side. You can see it here. When I walked on the bridge, I tried to guess the reason for such a display and the mystery deepened when I saw the names scribbled to the locks. I guessed that the names were of victims of the civil war in this country and it was a way to recognize the sacrifice. Then I thought it coul...
