Morning Pages Entry – April 11, 2014

Well, here we are on day 5, friday, of my first week of doing 5000 words per day, and I’ve managed to hit that number every day. Today is the last day for doing it, and I have no doubt, that I will hit another 5000 words today. That is a friggin amazing feat. It’s crazy what people are capable of when they set they’re minds to something and believe in what they are doing. Sure, they may not be the most eloquent words ever written, truth be told, they are far from it, and yes, it did take...

So, it would seem the word count continues for the week. Three days in a row now, I’ve hit 5000 words. That’s pretty awesome. [personal stuff edited out]The whole big motivation for me doing this, was that I could get the 5000 words done before done, and then spend the rest of the day doing whatever I wanted. [personal stuff edited out]Anyways enough about that crap, it’s time to put a little more thought into where this story is going to go. So, yesterday I wrote about how Chaz and the G...

Alright, fucking eh! But I did it again. Yesterday was another 5000+ words per day. Let’s see if I can continue this for the rest of the week. The only problem, may be, that I’m pretty close (I think) to finishing the rough draft of the novel, and I may not have enough words left to write for it. I suppose, I could write parts of the next novel if I do end up finishing this draft before the weeks up. I might even finish it today. Which, is really the point, of today’s journal. I need to c...

Well, yesterday was a pretty fucking momentous happening. I managed to squeeze out 5034 words for my rough draft, and I managed to do it all before 12 noon. WOW! How fucking crazy is that shit. And, it wasn’t even all that hard. No doubt, it took a bit of focus and determination, but not an overwhelming amount. That’s pretty crazy shit. I’m really pumped to do it again today, tomorrow, and the next day. Pretty stoked to actually do it for a full week. That would be even more impressive. F...

Morning Pages Entry – April 07, 2014

Well, here we go, at the start of what should be a very interesting week. It’s like 6:40 in the morning, and I’m already typing my morning journal. I have to pick up the swim kids at the carling heights pool all the way across town, in about 45 minutes, which means I have to leave in about 25 minutes, but what’s really remarkable, is what I have in mind for the day. I plan on starting to write my 5000 words a day today. I have a plan of events for what needs to happen in the novel, and i’...

Ah well, here we are on a Sunday morning at almost 9:30, and I’ve returned home from a swim meet. What’s sort of amazing, is that we finished so quickly and are home so early. Samantha was supposed to swim this morning, but was feeling sick again. She’s just worn down again, from too much work, not enough sleep, and too much junk food. She just stumbled downstairs feeling sort of crappy, and looking pretty out of it. I’m actually writing this upstairs with some music playing in the backgr...

Yesterday, was sort of exciting, as I think, I came up with a new process for writing my stuff. I’m going to do the pomodoro method, which basically involves writing for a given period of time, then take another smaller period of time as a break from the task. The idea being of course, that you totally focus on the task for the work period and nothing else. It’s the only thing that you do. For me, that is going to be writing, and I’m using slightly different time periods then the official...

So, let’s talk about productivity. I just read a little blurb from a facebook link about Parkinsons law. I kind of skimmed through the article, but it’s based sort of on the principal, that you really get the most amount of work done, when your under some sort of tight time restriction. Like you’ve procrastinated on doing something for a week, and it’s absolutely now due by the end of the day, so you work like crazy for a few hours and get the thing done. We’ve all done that before, and I...

Your Mission

I love to write, I want to write, I need to write, I have to write. It is who I am, and everything I want to be. It’s an obsession worthy of pursuing and one of infinite possibility. How can I not? It scares me sometimes … and all the time. Why wouldn’t I want to chase it? Why wouldn’t I. I would. So, about the current state of affairs of the country … where is it leading to … no not my country, really I couldn’t care less about that. What I care about, is the current state of the country...
Morning Pages Entry – April 03, 2014

All right, this could be one of those days, where I just ramble along about whatever. There’s nothing really pressing at the moment that I feel the need to write about, however, now that I write that something does come to mind. And that is time management. It’s something that I feel I’ve never done well, but always wanted to do better. I worry and procrastinate about so many things that need to get done it’s ridiculous. And, the more I procrastinate about something the harder it is for m...
