“Heading North” by Andy Murray – available soon

The second Book in our “Songs of the North” Poetry series is launching soon.

Written by Andrew James Murray, a writer and poet from Manchester, England, it takes us on a journey where we travel from the childhood and youth of summer in the South, to the mortality-facing winter of the North.

“We ride in the wake of glaciers, leaving behind the sunshine straits.”

“North, north, always north, heading into midnight.”

The Northern Queen – available November 29th

From the pen of Kelly Evans, comes a tale that has waited a thousand years to be told.

The Northern Queen explores the complex political landscape of 11’th century England and the fall of an ancient English dynasty. It puts a very human face on the historical events that helped shape not just England, but Denmark, Norway and Sweden as they came to be ruled by just one man, Canute, son of Sweyn Forkbeard.

With the creation of the Great Northern Empire, that saw the Viking lands united with England, a powerful alliance was created that set the stage for a new dynasty to be born. But would it be the children of Canute’s pagan wife, Aelfgifu, or the those of the woman Canute was forced to marry to appease the Church, Emma of Normandy, who would rule his Empire?

With the fate of nations hanging in the balance, the Northern Queen will take you on a journey into England’s most turbulent past and a rivalry between two women whose effects we still feel today.

The Northern Queen is the first novel from Kelly Evans and will be available on November 29th, 2015. Click here for the full resolution image.

The Guardian Saga begins with “Blood in the Sand”

Nordland Publishing are proud to announce the release of “The Guardian – Blood in the Sand.”

Follow the misadventures of Philip Entwhistle, a historian with “a good heart.” Tested and chosen, Philip becomes the recipient of an ancient secret: A secret for which people have killed, and will kill again.

What happens when academia crosses paths with the occult?

The most powerful witch in England is hell bent on becoming a god, and Philip has made the worst decision of his scholastic career. He plans to stop her. He has no idea what he is up against, and soon discovers he might lose more than just a promotion.

For Philip Entwhistle, academia has never been so cutthroat.

Blood in the Sand is the first instalment of a new saga that combines love, magic and revenge, propelling Philip from his hum-drum life to the Sahara, as he unearths a mystery that lay hidden for a century.

Please contact press@nordlandpublishing.com if you would like to receive an ARC for Blood in the Sand.

“The Guardian – Blood in the Sand” is available now, worldwide on Amazon. CLICK HERE and scroll down for the individual country links.

“Songs of the North”

Katie ProfileKatie Metcalfe has long been part of the Nordland family, but now she takes on a new role, becoming our first poet in a new series.

“Songs of the North” will explore themes related to the far north, be it Norway, England, Iceland or anywhere it is cold, dark, and dangerous.

Our first release,”Dying is Forbidden in Longyearbyen” is a gritty collection of poems that make the hardships and joys of the North very real. Something Katie is intimately familiar with, having long been drawn to the cold, wild landscapes of Norway. These poems give voice to her exquisite vision of ice and snow, fang and fur.

“Dying is Forbidden in Longyearbyen” will be available in late July, 2015.

Cover Reveal for Folklore

Folklore_Cover_Boxshot_thick_cheatFolklore is the first of the Northlore trilogy. It is an eclectic mix of stories and poems, all inspired by traditional Scandinavian folklore.

The purpose of this collection is to create new tales that take inspiration from the myths and fables of Northern Europe. They should stay true to the principles of the original tales (so no flying trolls, or Elves with Laser vision, for example) but they should be original (not retellings).

The stories are situated in several countries, and cover a time-frame from the Viking period, “Hold the Door,” right up to the modern day with “The Edge of Darkness.”

This is not the first release from Nordland Publishing, but it is our first anthology. We are a small Norwegian company, and we are delighted to say that we received contributions from many parts of the world.

Folklore combines the work of a wide range of contributors; from previously unpublished amateurs, to award winning poets and best selling authors.
