More of a Routine

2016 #ROW80 Round 1: Check-In 18 | 10 Minute Novelist: Update 9

No real updates for today. I’m at that point in the writing process in which I hate the way the story is developing. It has nothing to do with the plot or the planning, but everything to do with second guessing my outline and the higher expectations I have for myself.

I know what I want to accomplish with this particular manuscript, but I’m not getting there, yet. The first twenty-five percent always bring the same issue. The goo...

#RAINBOWSNIPPETS *~* March 5-6, 2016 *~*

New month, new WIP. I’m currently working on a second chance contemporary novella. It’s almost at 7K right now, and I’m aiming for 36K total. The MCs were a couple in college and their plans to move out-of-state together didn’t work. After, they tried a long distance relationship that died quietly. It has been fifteen years, and they are seeing each other for the first time. Enjoy!

“Professor Grant, I believe you’re expecting me,” Clay said followed by a smile he hoped ease Aaron’s frown.

“Th...

New Month, Last Opportunities

2016 #ROW80 Round 1: Check-In 17

With the start of March, we turned the corner for the last three weeks of #ROW80. This month, I’m working on two projects I kept pushing aside. My goal is to finish the first drafts within twelve days, or a little more. So far, I have written 6,082 words within the two projects. I’m moving forward, slower than I wanted, but steady enough to finish in time. Then, is to beta reads, re-writes, and hopefully, to be ready for my May deadlines.

Other than that, just...

[NSFW] Shattered Glass

BDSM Flash Fiction #1

Glass

As soon as the wine glass slipped through his fingers, Jack’s ass clenched. And when the fine crystal shattered, spilling the sweet red on Master’s hardwood floor, Jack wanted nothing more than to run away. He couldn’t stop the loud moan from escaping his lips, calling everyone’s attention.

“Are you alright, little brother?”

“Y-yes.”

“Let me help you clean it up.”

“No please, you have to go,” Jack pleaded.

“I just got here. We all want to hear about your honeymoon.”

“Pl...

February ’16 Recap

2016 #ROW80 Round 1: Check-In 16 | 10 Minute Novelist: Update8

February was a lazy month. Procrastination took over early on and decided to stay. Overall, it wasn’t a bad month, just not as productive as I expected. I started two manuscripts, and I’m hoping to finish at least one by the end of the month.

We will see how it goes.

This month’s in numbers:

22 books read, reviewed, & posted/scheduled 12 blog post written (including this one) 5 flash fiction pieces 3,391 original words 18,258 wor...

#RAINBOWSNIPPETS *~* FEB 27-28, 2016 *~*

One more snippet from Prescribed Discipline to close the month of love and friendship. It has been fun sharing my WIP with you and getting your feedback. If everything goes as planned, the first two books in the Exhibits series should be ready by Fall.

In this snippet, you would see the first impressions of August’s ex-wife, Ciara, about Lucas.

“If you are Mr. Harding’s replacement, I’m all for it. I’m just a little concern about the new uniforms, there’s not much left to the imagination.” Sh...

Labels and More Labels

2016 #ROW80 Round 1: Check-In 15

LabelsAs an MM Romance author, I’m uber aware of labels. See what I did there? Yes, I labeled myself, not only as an authorbut specifically, as an MM Romance author. Since I started writing MM, I kept this label as vague as possible. Many colleaguesuse a more accurate niche/label, for example, contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, etc. I didn’t because I was not sure what I wanted to write about other than romance.

I have five novellas available– one contemporary, two...

[Look] Who’s Talking?

2016 #ROW80 Round 1: Check-In 14 | 10 Minute Novelist: Update7

Getting the reader to connect with your words starts from the very first line. And who says that line is as important asits content.

I normally use alternating POV between my MCs to tell their stories. Only one of my books, Binding Jax’s Heart, has a single narrator. In it, there are three MCs, and I decided to let Jax tell his story to focus on his growth and to prevent the POV changes from becoming a distraction.

Every time I st...

#RAINBOWSNIPPETS *~* FEB 20-21, 2016 *~*

Here we have August and Lucas one more time. Their first time together at August’s house, just after a family picnic between their families. Almost half-way through Prescribed Discipline.

“I want you to bathe me. You have fifteen minutes to finish your task and don’t try to get anything from it. When you’re done, you’ll have an additional fifteen minutes to take your bath before meeting me in the room. Understood?”

“Yes, Master. I’m not allowed to pleasure you or myself during our baths, and...

Whose view? Your view? My View? Point of View

2016 #ROW80 Round 1: Check-In 13

I don’t have a writing background per se. I have written academic papers, always in the first person, naming references and following a structure, which helped me transitioned into fiction without much trouble. All my stories so far had been written in the third person past tense. It’s what I learned when I was first exploring the idea of writing fiction.
