A Taste of You Release and Vacation News!

The reviews for A Taste of You have been AMAZING, if you don’t mind me bragging a little (it’s my newsletter, you can always just delete me, I guess).

I’m back from vacation and I have pictures!

I have another SWAGSTRAVAGANZA giveaway!

Office supply addict Eve McGrath’s meticulously organized life is on the verge of crashing at her feet. Blue Mountain distillery’s new tasting and visitor center has to be finished prontoor her mother will lose her mind. Good thing Eve likes a challenge—which is exactly what she’ll face trying to convince the flaky contractor’s hot son to finish the job.

Nick Baker is back in Kentucky just long enough to get his wayward dad back on his feet. Then he’s gone. Unfortunately, he can’t resist helping Eve, the sexy distiller-in-distress, whose addictive, bourbon-flavored kisses threaten his carefully constructed boundaries. And if he can’t rein himself in, the uncomfortable secrets of past will nail him to the wall…

5 stars “Ms. Stanley is a comic genius in the timing of dialogue delivery as well as the depth and personality she has created within her characters. I was floored with how easy it was to become emotionally invested so quickly…” ~Becky B., Goodreads

5 stars “Oh wow! I absolutely loved this book. It’s one of those amazing stories which warms your heart, and makes you fall in love.” ~Books Eater

5 stars “Excellent read! It’s fun, flirty, and entertaining. Through the humor you can really feel the depth of these characters and how far they’ve come. It’s very well written and has a great story at the core.” ~Bette H., Goodreads

We Took a Little Road Trip…

Mr. Stanley, our favorite middle child, and I went west a couple of weeks ago with a Yeti full of Diet Coke and Google Maps on the Droid Turbo.

We went to the Cadillac Ranch, in Amarillo, TX. This is an art installation in the middle of some farmer’s field, and people stop to spray paint whatever on the cars.

Then we went to the Grand Canyon.

And on to Yellowstone: O. M. G.

A quick trip to Mt. Rushmore:

And now we’re back home, planning our next adventure!

While I should have been editing…

I’m Teri, and I’m a compulsive crafter. There, I’ve admitted it.

When I’m not working at my day job or writing, I’m usually elbows deep in some sort of fiber art project or another. That’s not to say that I don’t also love other media, but I’m really into things like paper, yarn, and fabric.

This is the page I made to commemorate my DAR induction.

As a matter of fact, I can turn almost any other part of my life into an excuse to go to Michael’s for more stuff. For example: Last summer I got really interested in genealogy. My dad passed away last spring, and my mom gave me a big pile of papers that included some family tree stuff. I joined Ancestry.com to verify what I had, and have been in that rabbit hole ever since.

During my genealogy excursion, I found that I’m descended from several patriots of the American Revolution. So what does one do with that information? Well, I joined the Daughters of the American Revolution, which is kind of like grown up girl scouts. They do a lot of patriotic service type stuff.

I’ve also begun to amass an incredible volume of information, which I feel compelled to make available to anyone in my family. And if I’m going to share it, I should make it look nice, right? Granted, I could just send them all links to my Ancestry tree, but I’ve downloaded a ton of census forms, and gravestone photos, and junk like that, so…I figured I’d compile it into a book. I’m a writer, I can do this!

Except THAT decision sent me back to dig through the boxes of scrapbooking supplies that I haven’t used in FOREVER. Of course, most of it was purchased in 1997, and the colors don’t really work, so I had to go to Michael’s.

Meanwhile, I went to Pinterest for ideas about how to lay it all out. And discovered this whole new concept–digital scrapbooking. I mean, I knew it was out there, I just thought it was kind of dumb. Until I started looking into it.

THERE’S SO MUCH COOL STUFF online!

And a lot of it’s free! I found this website called Pixelscrapper where you can get lots of free “paper”and embellishments and stuff. There are many other sites, this is just where I started. Most of the people who do digital scrapbooking seem to use Photoshop (pricey!) or Photoshop Elements (which is the abridged version of the program, and cheaper, but even on sale it’s still about $70). Photoshop is an awesome program and it does a ton of stuff–you have to spend a lot of time watching Youtube videos to figure out how to do things, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not too bad. But again with the pricey thing. I have it on my computer at work, but since I shouldn’t be scrapbooking at the day job, I needed a home version. So I’m using GIMP. It’s a free download, and I’ve found that it does almost everything that Photoshop does, though there are some different steps–and also a lot of online tutorials.

This page is to document the places my great grandparents lived. Are you impressed with the fancy shadows? Yeah, me, too.

Anyway. I’ve made a couple of lame attempts at putting together some pages. Clearly I need more tutorials…like how to do basic graphic design, maybe? These layouts aren’t going to make it onto anyone’s Pinterest board, but I had fun making them!

One Shot, Coming Up!

mosaic

Hey there!

I’ve been busy being artsy and craftsy lately–that mosaic stone is one of my creations. I apologize if you’ve already seen it seventy-five times, but honestly–shoving pretty rocks into cement is like the coolest thing, ever. Who hasn’t wanted to carve their initials into a fresh sidewalk? This is like that, except you’re not going to get in trouble for it. I’m not sure where I’ll put it, but we have plenty of neglected yard space!

My next Bourbon Boy story, A Shot with You is on the horizon. I was thinking it was a long way out, but it’s scheduled for release on January 9, 2017–you know, next year–but that’s only about 7 weeks out. Holy crap! I need to start thinking about pimping this book, so I’m going to be posting lots of tequila things on my social media sites…and I’ll make a page here with some fun stuff, too.

I started a pinterest board with loads of good stuff, but can’t seem to actually FIND the board to link it, just my profile.

In just a couple of weeks, on December 3, is the

Book Chicks of Greater Cincinnati’s Toys for Tots Author Luncheon,

which is being held in Newport, KY…it’s going to be a great event, and there are still tickets available for lunch, or you can come to the free book signing that’s being held from 1-3.

I’m busy doing NaNoWriMo right now, or at least trying to…I’m woefully short on my word count. I’d like to get a serious chunk of my next “Accidentally in Love” story done, but my intentions and reality don’t always line up! Futzing around on Pinterest probably isn’t helping much…hmmm…

That’s about all the news for now, CHEERS!

Cute Puppies and other Political Stuff

Actually, there’s not going to be any political stuff, because, puppies.

penny-crazy

That’s one of our dogs, Penny. She’s a Treeing Walker Coonhound, and thinks it really funny to escape from the yard and be chased through the neighborhood by her people, and then laughing at us when we finally catch us. Fortunately, we’re getting better at remembering to keep the gate closed.

I’m going to try to post more dog things here over the next few months, because we all need more good, fun, positive things in our lives, and one of my good, fun, positive things is dogs.

Also, I have a new book release scheduled! A Shot With You, book two in my Bourbon Boys series with Entangled, is finally coming out! It was a long, painful struggle to write this book for a variety of reasons, and I’m really excited to share it with you on January 9, 2017. I’ve finished the third, called A Taste with You, and that will follow sometime later in the year. And THEN there will be another “Accidentally in Love” story. More will be revealed…

Cheers, y’all!

Pie, and Feeding Authors

512512There’s an awesome new initiative SWEEPING THE INTERNET (at least, we hope so!) called “Buy a Book, Feed and Author,” designed to…uh, help authors sell books so they can buy groceries.

The idea is that authors (like me!) get to pimp other authors by sharing their favorite books. I had a really, really hard time deciding what book to promote. I have a lot of author friends, and it seems incredibly disloyal not to pick one of my besties. But then I would have to leave out the rest of my close friends, and then I’d lay awake at night worrying that I’d hurt someone’s feelings, and then it would be even harder for me to finish my second Bourbon Boy book because my brain would be all full of otherthinking thoughts…

So I made a list of my comfort reads, and semi-randomly chose one. Very scientifically. So scientifically that I won’t explain it here, because I don’t want to melt anyone’s brain. But once I chose it, I realized that it’s completely appropriate, because it’s got a food theme going…and if nothing else, I’m all about the food.

You can go read about my choice here: Buy a Book, Feed an Author .

My Heart Blooms

I swear I checked, I’m taking the right dose of my medication, LOL, but I want to tell you how thrilled I am that you love ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE WITH THE BIKER!!

The reviews have been amazing. I opened it the other day, just for fun, and started reading, and I actually liked it too (and that’s totally weird, to be able to read something that I wrote and rewrote and rewrote and…).

Anyway, thank you all so much for your support and love and admiration and…oh. Wait. That’s my Oscar speech. *snort*
