I grew up in Virginia Beach where I worked as a lifeguard and kayak tour guide. I graduated from The College of William and Mary with a double major in English and Psychology and then earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary English Education from The University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education. I have had numerous articles published in The Virginia Pilot Newspaper and received the People’s Choice Award for my short story “I’ll Water the Garden” in Storyteller Magazine. Have Mercy is my first novel and it was a more than ten year process. I have also published a non-fiction book titled: A Wannabe Teacher’s Guide to Getting Hired, Having Fun, & Staying Sane. With NCLB gone and the Every Child Succeeds Act in several changes need to be made. I’m also adding more tips and tricks and more advice from veteran teachers.(less)
