India and the Art of Blogging.
Never thought I would be a blogger. Never really had an interest in posting my thoughts or ideas on the internet, but when I started writing my book it became important to share and get feedback from others. My love of South Asian culture is what lead me on the journey to explore and write the book. Living in New York, a city rich and diverse allowed me to see, hear and smell the beauty of India. A ride on the 7 train took me to Jackson Heights. To my favorite diner and rows of sari and jewelry shops, a cacophony of color and the sound of Hindi. And when I planned my trip to Mumbai, my friends said, "You don't have to go there to do research. Everything you need is right here." Afraid for me to go on my own. A mother of six month old twins. But India was calling me and I went. Mumbai, an ancient and crowded city. The very old mixed with the new-- crumbling old buildings next to giant shiny skyscrapers. The smell of sizzling spices and dung in the air. A cow silently staring ahead as the devoted touched it as they made their way through the crowded train station. A kind of beauty I had never seen before. A connection that coursed through me. And so I wanted to share these images and learn more. So I decided to blog. To continue the journey that lead me to Natural Elements. Natural Elements

Happy New Year to all!
Another year and another resolution. This one I will keep. I have put the writing of my third manuscript on the back burner for a couple of years now. Today I will make an effort to stay focus and write. The Boys from Division Ave.-- is personal. Young teens growing up in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma, a low-income, crime ridden place, yet there is a strong tight-knit community filled with hard-working people who care about each other. And when an unthinkable crime happens to one of its own the boys and their neighbors fight back to bring justice and safety to their neighborhood.
Natural Elements, my second manuscript, now self-published is available on Amazon. It too is personal. The story of a young woman of mixed race struggling to fit into Bombay society. I know what it's like to be different from everyone else. Geeta, eighteen is a young woman who often feels isolated and rejected because of the color of her skin. Being dark makes her feel different.
To celebrate the new year I am doing a kindle countdown deal of this novel starting 1/15/15. Get a copy for .99 and explore the exotic, yet complex world of Bombay.
