Section 1: Upgrading to Windows 10 is now totally fleshed out 1st draft. Finally finished the Familiarize and Navigation portion. A number of screen shots and I did do a fairly in-depth bit on the privatization so you won’t have a bunch of stuff running in the background.

Section 4: Backing Up Critical Data. A good bit of this is fleshed out. The on board e-mail covers two generations of Microsoft Outlook as well as Windows Live mail. Also on-line email providers Gmail and Yahoo. I will not be covering Hotmail as I refuse to have anything to do with it! Yet to be fleshed out are examples of backing up data of programs which require
accessing your app data directly. I will not be covering accounting programs. If you are using any of these, I am sure you already know how!

Section 3: Resetting Browsers. The three most common browsers are fleshed
out with lots of screen shots to help you along the procedure. This is very important
to do to ensure ridding your browsers of redirects , add-ons’ and history which take you
to infectious sites that were probably the primary cause of getting infected in the first place.
This is also a good procedure to use periodically just to keep the browsers working smoothly.

Section 1 is about 1/2 fleshed out. Not much narrative. The remainder
of the section will be a narrative with numerous screen shots on basic
navigation, updating, settings, personalizing and privatization. Along with
a few tips on the hick-ups we have seen so far in Windows 10.

Book 2
The stack of 1st draft pages is getting thicker!
I think Section 2 is pretty well fleshed out in 1st draft.
It is a long procedure to do and write out while getting all the
screen shots. It has 8 steps with different programs if you are doing
Windows 7 or 8 and 7 steps if you are doing Windows 8.1 or 10.
The next section, Section 3, completes Section 2’s cleaning process by getting
all those browsers reset! .
I will be tackling this next.

Book 2 Section 4 will cover, in detail, the back-up procedure for this
as well as several other back-ups that you really should being doing

Book2 Progress

Took a couple days off from work so I could do some writing.
Section 2 is pretty much fleshed out in 1st draft form. It takes quite
a bit of time because I actually run each test on a test computer
as I write so I can get the screen shots. I feel the screen shots help provide
the reader a good guide to what they are doing.
Anyone who has used Book1 will know what I mean.

Book 2
Making decent progress with Book 2: The Intermediate User.
So far, I have 5 Sections blocked out:
Section 1: Upgrading to Windows 10
Section 2: Cleaning a badly infected computer
Section 3: Resetting Browsers
Section 4: Backing up critical data
Section 5: Dealing with a corrupt Windows Operating System.
I will periodically post progress updates. Follow along! If you have ideas of what might be good to be included, post it here. I will consider it for sure.
I may even do a progress page on my web site.

Introduction
Computers R4U2. Book 1: The Basic User, is currently published with Amazon Kindle, SmashWords and Lulu. It will also be available for sale on the web site in the near future. The books are written in a procedural step by step format with screen shots to guide the user through the complexities of proper and safe computer usage.
Book 1 firstly deals with the set up of a new windows 8.1 computer and how to properly set up your web browser. It also guides you through the installation of a very useful “start” button to aid you in navigating 8.1 without the not so user friendly “metro” screen!
**We then switch to Windows 7 for the rest of the book because that is what most users have.**
It then goes on to guide the user through getting a good free antivirus.
Next, it deals with how to back up and keep all your user data safe and secure.
It then guides the user on how to download, install and use some good **FREE**software to keep your computers free of malicious software, adware, spyware, viruses and so on.
Then the book introduces a routine maintenance procedure so you can keep your computers safe, clean and running as fast and as smooth as possible.
It also dedicates a chapter to some simple ways and examples of how to avoid getting your computer infected with spyware/ adware/ malware and malicious software.
The following Book 2: The Intermediate User and Book 3: The Advanced User will be written as continuations to take the user deeper into procedures for self servicing your own computer when you have problems. If you use the procedures, samples and hints that we will present, you will be able to avoid the need of taking your computer off to the very expensive computer repair shop for everything but the most serious infections and complete failures
