Call For Submissions — How Are You Healing?

Call For Submissions — How Are You Healing?Image by Andrea Danti

Unless you’re living off the grid, you’re part of a generation that is more exposed to the trauma of other’s experiences than any generation before this.

While you may not connect as deeply to witnessing or being aware of what others are going through, that energy still flows through you. You still feel something, and if you’re not intentional about your exposure, those feelings can begin to impact your emotional and mental well being.

For this reason, I believe we have to proactively find ways to heal ourselves. I personally try to “turn off,” meaning I don’t listen to any local news channels and try to stay away from any headlines I think can be triggering. I’ve seen others take week long breaks from social media as part of their healing.

For this submission, I want you to tell us how you are healing. What are you doing to protect your peace? Or do you think that it’s even necessary to do so?

Same rules still apply:You can submit to this or ANY of our past writing prompts. Just scroll through our previous newsletters. They’ll be marked “Call for Submissions.”If you’re already a writer for CRY, go ahead and submit. If you’re not a writer for CRY but would like to submit to this or any other prompt, let us know and we’ll add you ASAP. Include your profile handle in your message or comment.Be as creative as you want in your submissions. As long as you stick to the topic, we’ll consider it.Just because you submit doesn’t mean we’ll post. If you haven’t heard back from us in three days, consider that a pass.

Please reach out if you have any questions at all. If you are new to Medium, here’s how you submit a draft to a publication.

Nature’s Festivity

Photo by Nischal Kanishk on Unsplash

The heavy clouds hovered over the sky,
The blue sky vanished and the black ascended.
There were spots of white on the dark sky,
The last rays of sun had given the clouds a glittery silver outline.
The partial beam of sun was glancing through the clouds.
And those reddish orange colours disappeared into nothingness.

A jolt of thunder proclaimed it’s advent.
The festivity was accompanied by the winds, trees and leaves.
The winds roared ; the trees danced and the leaves wrestled.
The birds were heading back to their nests,
Unfurling their wings; and drifting up and down,
The fierce winds blocked their way,
But they made it through.

At long last, the darkness prevailed, the burdensome clouds were heaved with gloominess.
Time had come for them to burst into their thousand tears.
The sounds of tears banged hard on the ground.
The trees swayed in the breezy evening,
The birds quivered but snuggled their nestlings.

The heavy shower lasted for sometime.
The clouds and darkness descended.
The blue sky blushed with a glint of pink and yellow over the horizon.
The sun disappeared and at the end, the luminous Crescent revealed itself.
