Yay!!! It’s November

Only one more month till the end of the year – which for Aussies means SUMMER HOLIDAYS!!!

I can’t wait, I’ve already started counting down! 6 weeks until I try and not look at a computer screen for 3 weeks at least, where I try to find myself through a unique, trying juxtaposition of meditation, snoring, vegetating, gluttonous consumption and P-A-R-T-Y-I-N-G. Basically in an attempt to connect with my elusive Stone Age ancestors.

For now though, it’s back to the ol’ drawing board – bloody Monday ;)

Am I the only one rooting for cartoon villains?

I don’t know what it is about those cute technicoloured “badies”, but as a cartoon buff, I can’t help rooting for Tom, the Coyote and Sylvester – just a little bit.

Maybe it’s because it’s a Friday, but I always harbour a little hope for those dangerously, mean, downright cruel characters that have entertained us throughout our childhood (and continue to do so for some of us :P ). Really, what would the Roadrunner, Jerry and Tweety be without them? In one word – B-O-R-I-N-G!!!

So here’s raising a big glass of milkshake to them all. I love you guys, just as long as you don’t roll me into super thin papier-mâché that skids across the desert melodiously, super glue my butt to that horrible bulldog’s kennel Jerry loves so much or get Granny to slap me repeatedly while kicking me to the kerb to sleep out on tonight.

Have a great weekend guys, because in the words of the Great Porky Pig “Th-th-th – that’s all folks!” ;)

Why dammit why?

How can 4am look so different when you stay up all night from when you have to wake up at the notoriously unholy hour?

There’s different perspectives for you, now please excuse me while I crash onto my keyboard and wipe the drool from across my mouth … zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sometimes all you need …

… is some yummy, crunchy, delectable, decadent, sweet infested cereal to kick start your day. Oh, as a sidebar, I think I want to marry Mr. Lindt :D

Happy Birthday to my Purpose …

Mothers are amazing, aren’t they? Unsolvable phenomenon’s if you ask me. How else could anyone possibly ever explain the unconditional love, the unrelenting support, the fierce need to protect no matter how old you get, the doe eyed adoration for you even when you couldn’t conceivably (or inconceivably) get any more irritating or incessantly demanding or annoying or downright rude.

It’s my mama’s birthday today and like all kids on this planet, I have the best-est mum anywhere in the solar system, earth bound or intergalactic. I have witnessed my mother seriously working her skin off trying to be the best role model out there and man did she deliver.

In India we have a saying – that God gifts every child with a Mother because he couldn’t be there for each one of us physically so he gave us someone in his image and my Mum is definitely my Higher Power. I don’t think there is anyone else on this universe (parallel ones included) I frustrate more (and I know it when I’m shamelessly doing it), torment more, stress more and generally poke and prod more than my mama … and what did she do to deserve it? Well give birth to me of course, she should have known better :D

Seriously though, what did she get for it? Not much I guess, but I do know that my very definition of everything and anything good and solid in this lifetime begins with just a whiff, a tinkling on the edges of my cranium, a gentle nudge deep within the etched compositions of my soul of my mother. The values of right over wrong, my moral compass, my undying belief that in the end – good will prevail over evil, that working hard DOES get you to the finish line no matter how impossible and stupidly childish the notion seems at the moment and most imperatively, that little voice that plays in my heart surging its way to my head that uncompromisingly reminds me that everything is going to be okay is all my mama.

The obstinate power I find hidden deep within myself when I ceaselessly tell myself every morning that “I am invincible and that my dreams are going to be reality” is courtesy my mum.

My very definition of love is my mum. Mothers are truly the greatest gifts any one of us are ever going to receive. All the money, fame, designer clothes, falsified compliments this world will give you on your travels, everything you may think is good but is just another façade for what is the cruel, mocking way of society will never compare to the gift so many of us choose not to see even though it’s right in front of our eyes, what we often take for granted – our mothers.

Who else would still claim your atrocious kindergarten overused art piece of your hands dripping in red and blue paint is a masterpiece even when you’re old enough to know better? Most importantly, who else could tell you that and still make you believe it was true – that you are the brightest, most intelligent, most perfect, most wonderful living thing out there?

Who else can still make you feel warm and fuzzy after all these years, like you’re the safest with a simple brushing of your cheek with her finger or a warm caress that speaks so much louder than the words “I love you”? No one, that’s who.

2013-01-05-039To my mama – Have the best birthday ever and even though I don’t think I say this enough, I love you more than existence itself, because well, you are my reason, my purpose, my life, my soul. I love you so much more than all the beautiful words in the world I could ever create or muster up to string along together so instead, all I say is that I only wish to be a glimmer of your image in an effort to be some sort of poor tribute to everything you are!

xoxo Chotu & Motu xoxo

Invincibility is directly correlated with self belief – the more you have faith in yourself, the greater your power in proving you’re unsurpassable.

What I am telling myself every morning as I look in the mirror, I’ll let you know how it goes! :P

To eat or not to eat?

That is really the question!

Gluttony is despicable, isn’t it? No matter how much I think I can’t possibly stuff my mouth anymore, a few hours of the inner workings of my stomach later and I’m right back where I started – craving.

Disgusting, I know. I do apologise, really, but I swear I have been equipped with faulty tastebuds, ones that are punishingly dismembered from my stomach and most importantly my hips. The “a moment on your lips is a lifetime on your hips” concept is naturally inconceivable to them so I can’t be blamed completely.

The only saving grace is that the weekend is near, so hopefully I’ll be spending a large chunk of it sleeping rather than consuming.

Tell me please, can you put on weight dreaming of food?

Have a spectacular weekend my adorables :)

Happy New Year!

Arguably one of the most popular festivals in India, The Festival of Lights or what Indians refer to as Diwali is tomorrow. Considered as the Hindu New Year, this celebratory event is all about rejoicing in fresh, new beginnings, revelling in the brightness of illuminated knowledge as well as happiness, exulting in the victory of good over evil with hope winning over despair, and wishing prosperity and wealth for everyone!

Diwali for my sister and I has always been about frolicking fun after a mad rush of spring cleaning with friends and family, praying for peace – emotional, spiritual and physical, lots and lots of lights and alighted “Diyas” (candles), colourful “Rangoli” displays (intricate vibrant Indian designed floor patterns composed of multi-coloured powders), making “Malas” (flower necklaces), painting rice flour feet imprints throughout the house in representation of the Goddess Lakshmi entering our abode, and who can forget, a gigantic amount of amazingly, delectably, scrumptious food, both savoury and sweet.

I’d like to hurl my kindest, most joyous and greatest celebratory hug at you for this Diwali. May your life be filled with happiness, enlightened knowledge, understanding, peace, wealth in a spiritual and monetary sense :) , celebration and good, wholesome, cherished company forever.

Happy Diwali to everyone!!! /Aap Sab Ko Deepavali Ki Hardik Shubhkamnaye!!!

Do You Dare?

Risk is imperative in turning dreams into reality!

Taking a chance on something is what transforms innovation from a speck in the workings of your cranium to a spark initiating an idea and finally concluding with the next “big thing”.

If you analyse all the great success stories of the past, they were often a first ever, which means when they were being “thought up”, onlookers would have sneered and snickered at them as being impossible.

It’s easy to travel down the worn out path but taking your first step on the brand new yellow brick road takes initiative, courage and good ol’ fashioned guts!

If you believe in something, jump into the deep end (within reason of course) because often risk is your path to writing your name in history!

99% Perspiration, 1% Luck …

I always remember this comment I received from a general good Samaritan I came into contact with when I was sending out what can only be termed as an inhumane number of “cold letters” while attempting to secure my first “real job” fresh out of university.

This important Director of sorts from a large conglomerate in Australia had taken some precious time out of his busy work day schedule to send back a “buck up” response to a waning youngster at the end of a hard days work on a Thursday night.

The message was clear, achievement is inevitable for anyone who relentlessly pursues what they want no matter what the road blocks, it’s just going to take a lot of sweaty hard work, an unwillingness to die in the process, skin as thick as leather, as prickly as a porcupine and a will as strong as steel, and well immersed in Kryptonite as well. All in all, Superman is going to be child’s play on some not so good days, which may appear to come around more often than not.

You hear it over and over again – Never Give Up. It’s just good to be reminded of it every now and then. Happy Motivational Monday everyone :)
