Cover Reveal for Debut Author Laurie Lucking!
I’m so excited to be part of this cover reveal for Laurie Lucking’s debut novel, Common! For the past few years, I have had the privilege of being part of the ACFW Minnesota Chapter (MN-NICE) with Laurie, so I’ve had a close-up seat to this new and exciting leg of her writing journey.
Before I reveal the cover, though, here’s a bit more about Laurie ~An avid reader since birth (her parents claim she often kept them up late begging to hear just one more story), Laurie Lucking discovered her passion for writing after leaving her career as an attorney to become a stay-at-home mom. She writes young adult fantasy with a strong thread of romance, and her debut novel, Common, releases in 2018 from Love2ReadLove2Write Publishing. Laurie is the secretary of her local ACFW chapter and a co-founder of www.landsuncharted.com, a blog for fans of clean young adult speculative fiction. A Midwestern girl through and through, she currently lives in Minnesota with her husband and two young sons. Find out more about Laurie and her writing by visiting www.laurielucking.com.
And here’s the book blurb ~
One person knows of the plot against the royal family and cares enough to try to stop it—the servant girl they banished.
Leah spends her days scrubbing floors, polishing silver, and meekly curtsying to nobility. Nothing distinguishes her from the other commoners serving at the palace, except her red hair.
And her secret friendship with Rafe, the Crown Prince of Imperia.
But Leah’s safe, ordinary world begins to splinter. Unexpected feelings for Rafe surface just as his parents announce his betrothal to a foreign princess. Then she unearths a plot to overthrow the royal family. Her life shatters completely when the queen banishes her for treason.
Harbored by a mysterious group of nuns, Leah must secure Rafe’s safety before it’s too late. But her quest reveals a villain far more sinister than an ambitious nobleman with his eye on the throne.
Can a common maidservant summon the courage to fight for her dearest friend?
Sounds like a must-read-now book, doesn’t it?
And finally (drum roll, please…….) here is Laurie’s fabulous cover!!! Gorgeous, isn’t it?!

2017 Christmas Reads
2017 Christmas Reads
No surprise, Christmas novels are a huge hit at this time of year. There’s nothing nicer during the winter season than cozying up by the fireplace with a book and a whipped-cream-topped hot cocoa. My kitty will probably be close by too.
Here are a few new Christmas novels I’m hoping to read this season. The fun part, most of these are written by friends! Three authors (Michelle Griep, Erica Vetsch, and Gabrielle Meyer) hail from Minnesota where we excel in all things winter.
Do you have a book you’re looking forward to reading this Christmas season?
12 Days at Bleakly Manor: Book 1 in Once Upon a Dickens Christmas
by Michelle Griep
In the year 1850, Clara Chapman received an invitation to spend the twelve days of Christmas at an English manor home and promised five hundred pounds if she can complete the time there. She is eager to use the money to bring her brother home from America and reinstate her family fortune which was stolen. Benjamin Lane, her former fiancé has been unjustly imprisoned and now he wants revenge. The two of them have somehow been brought together, will Clara must try to let go of her anger towards him.
A Texas Holiday Reunion
by Shannon Taylor Vannatter
After his parents volunteer him to help at her ranch over Christmas, single dad Colson Kincaid reunites with old love Resa McCall. A Child’s Christmas Wish
by Erica Vetsch
Her home destroyed in a fire, pregnant widow Kate Amaker and her in-laws take refuge with Oscar Rabb-the widowed farmer next door whose daughter has one holiday wish: a baby sibling for Christmas.
The Gift of Twins
by Gabrielle Meyer
Finding twin five-year-old boys on his doorstep isn’t the first surprise Reverend Benjamin Lahaye has faced lately. Emery Wilkes, the new schoolteacher the town has hired, turns out to be a very pretty woman—not the man they’d been expecting. And though the twins and Emmy are only boarding with Ben until Christmas, the arrangement feels all too natural.
Emmy has moved to Minnesota to put loss behind her. Marriage would mean forsaking her position and her purpose, and Ben is an honorable man who understands her refusal to wed. But as he gets closer to tracking down the little boys’ father, Emmy realizes just how much she wants their sweet temporary family to become permanent.

Free Gift to Readers
Free Gift to Readers
The greatest gift an author can receive is encouragement and kind words from our readers. Those words are a balm to a an oft-insecure soul.
I pondered what I could give back to my faithful readers at Christmas, and what better than a free gift of a story–or two?! Because Planting Hope (Where the Heart Is #3) had a proposal story at the end, I thought it would be fun to discover what the proposal stories were for Lissa & Caleb and Haven & Callie. And thus, A Risky Proposal and A Priceless Proposal were born!
To read the mini-stories, you don’t have to sign up for a newsletter. You don’t even have to purchase any books. You just have to go to BookFunnel and download. (You might have to download the BookFunnel app too.)
As these mini-stories take place at the end of Risking Love and Capturing Beauty, respectively, it certainly does help to read the novels first, but that’s up to you.
Happy Reading!

You can download Risking Love for FREE by signing up for my newsletter: http://eepurl.com/M0ZZr
