2024 Reading Challenge

Like any other self-respecting author, I’ve accumulated my share of un-read books. I always have the best of intentions to whittle that pile down, but alas, it just keeps growing faster than I can read.

This year, though, I’m making a public proclamation that I plan to reduce that toppling pile to zero.

Okay, that doesn’t mean I won’t be adding to my leaning stack–12 books are scheduled to be released through The Mosaic Collection alone!–just that I will read the 40 physical books I placed there prior to 2024.

Nor does it include the unread 100s waiting to be opened on my Kindle. Oy! I hope to make a small dent in that pile as well.

What is your reading goal for the year?

Coming this year from The Mosaic Collection

A Home for Christmas Challenge: Epilogue

Imagine my surprise when I read through The Home for Christmas Challenge (a short story in A Thrill in the Air) and discovered the epilogue was missing! Without it, the readers got a complete story, but they missed the best part. Just like if you lift the cover on a pan of brownies only to see that the frosting was missing, you’d be mightily disappointed. While the brownie is good on its own, it’s delectable with the frosting.

I couldn’t just leave Lee and Elise’s story hanging, so I had to get this epilogue to you somehow!

Follow the link below to BookFunnel. You can opt in to receive my newsletter if you wish, but it’s not required to receive the epilogue. There’s no obligation.

If you haven’t read The Home for Christmas Challenge, you can find it in The Mosaic Collection’s latest Christmas anthology, A Thrill in the Air. This anthology is packed with eight beautiful, clever, funny, tear-jerker, and suspenseful stories of faith and reconciliation that you will not want to miss. It’s a perfect read for this Christmas season.

Happy Reading and Merry Christmas!

Thank You, Readers! Celebration

In April of 2014, Chain of Mercy–my debut novel–was released through a small press. As any author will tell you, we have hopes and dreams for each book released, that they will reach the right audience and that the story will resonate with readers. Making bestseller lists is a dream! But, according to Publisher’s Weekly, the average sales per book in America is 500 copies. A self-published book averages 250 sales (see WordsRated), so landing on a bestseller list is highly unlikely.

Still, when first starting, I would have been thrilled to sell 500 books. And now, nine years later, only two of my releases linger below the 500 sales mark, nine have sold over a thousand, and three have topped the 2k mark.

Reviews and ratings accompany those sales, so an author holds their breath as their *baby* goes out to the world awaiting those first reviews, which tend to trickle in. A quick survey of my books shows that six percent of my readers will leave a written review on Amazon, while 25 – 50 percent of readers will leave at least a rating. (My more recent releases have more ratings as the rating system was only recently implemented by Amazon.)

So when two of my books, Chain of Mercy and A Beautiful Mess, eclipsed 1000 in ratings/reviews on Amazon, I figured that was worth a celebration! And that means a lot of goodies for my readers as a Thank You for reading, rating, and reviewing!

Here are the details:

Freebies: All who fill out the KingSumo form below will be emailed digital copies of My Beautiful Mess, a companion journal to A Beautiful Mess, and a mini-mag with a behind-the-scenes look at A Beautiful Mess. The journal and mini-mag will be emailed via BookFunnel following the celebration.

99¢ eBook Sale: From June 16, 2023 – June 21, 2023, both Chain of Mercy and A Beautiful Mess (ebooks only) are only 99¢ each! (US & UK only)

Chain of Mercy: PurchaseA Beautiful Mess: Purchase

Giveaways: A drawing will be held for four separate prizes, with a possible fifth prize! (Due to shipping costs, book and print prizes will be awarded United States residents–with US mailing addresses–only, but I’ve added a separate prize for international entrants.)

My Mosaic Collection paperbacks: A Beautiful Mess, Pieces of Granite, and Broken Together (US entrants only)My Coming Home Series paperbacks: Pieces of Granite (a Coming Home series prequel), Chain of Mercy, Memory Box Secrets, and Hungry for Home (US entrants only)An 8 x 10 print of Pearl, artwork commissioned from Mary DeMuth that depicts a painting created by a character in A Beautiful Mess. (US only)A $20 Amazon Gift Card (for international readers only)Potential bonus prize: As it currently stands, Chain of Mercy has 1301 ratings/reviews and A Beautiful Mess has 1095. If A Beautiful Mess reaches 1100 ratings/reviews by June 21, a second entrant will also win my Mosaic Collection paperbacks.

Where Healing Starts – Character Interview with Blake Hannigan

Where Healing Starts (Applewood Hill #2) by Angela D. Meyer
The Novel Way – Blog Tours with The Mosaic CollectionAbout the Book:

Title : Where Healing Starts (Applewood Hill book #2) by Angela D. Meyer

Genre: Christian Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, Family Drama

Release Date: May 11

Joanna and Blake Hannigan grew up in an angry home and made an all-for-one pact – them against the world – in order to survive. Now that pact may keep them from what they each long for.

While doing community service for shoplifting, Joanna’s walls begin to come down. She wonders if she does have something of value inside of her, but still full of bitterness, she can’t get off the path to self-destruction.

Will a near death experience put her on the road to redemption?

Blake refuses to accept the consequences for putting his brother-in-law in the hospital. He runs from the law and does the unthinkable.

In the face of impending disaster, will Blake’s choices lead to healing?

Unless the siblings realize their pact can’t save them, they may not find the One who can.

About Angela D. Meyer

Angela D. Meyer writes fiction that showcases God’s ability to redeem and restore the brokenness in our lives. Now that her two children are grown, she spends her life writing instead of homeschooling, stays active at church, and is plotting what to do with the rest of her life. She enjoys sunrises and sunsets, hanging out with friends, a good laugh, and reading. Someday, she would love to vacation by the ocean.

Learn more about Angela’s books on her website. Sign up for her newsletter to be among the first to hear about her new book releases.

Character Interview with Blake Hannigan

Blake is the second oldest child in the Hannigan family. To get away from his dad, he left home directly after high school and joined the Marines even though it meant leaving behind his one true love, Alita. Always tough, he pushes away those closest to him, appearing not to care. His sister Joanna is the only one he never pushed away. Until now. Read on to discover more about Blake Hannigan.

Blake, who is your favorite sibling?

Blake: Are you kidding? They all meddle. No one. I’m even getting tired of Joanna these days.

Do you have any hobbies?

Blake: (He snorts at the question) Don’t know if you would call them hobbies, but I hunt and ride my motorcycle.

Why did you join the Marines?

What do you think? To get away from home. Are we done now?

Just one more question. Tell us about a pet peeve that you have.

Blake: (He stares me down.) Interviews. I’m out of here. (Blake stomps off to his bike.)

Okay… can’t say I enjoyed that peek inside Blake’s head, but there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to Blake. Come along on his journey in Where Healing Starts and discover what’s really going on with him.
