Arden coming to the UK -- in hardcover!
Delightful, amazing, wonderful news about THE MAGICIAN'S LIE. Not only will Legend Press be publishing it in the UK this spring, but they're doing so as their first-ever hardcover! Couldn't be happier to have Arden crossing the pond in this fashion. (You know, Adelaide Herrmann was born in England...)

shouting and sharing
I didn't go to Book Expo America this year, but Kate (Warne, the narrator of my next novel) did, and a good time was had by all.
BEA is all about books. Books books books. Dozens, hundreds, thousands of books. It's hard to stand out from the crowd.
But miraculously, Kate's done it, because GIRL IN DISGUISE got a shout-out from librarians running the event's "Shout 'n Share" panel. Yay!

GIRL IN DISGUISE ready to add on Goodreads
So, are you big on delayed gratification? (You should think about going into publishing!)
My next novel, GIRL IN DISGUISE, is coming out in March 2017. Yes, that's reeeeeeally far away. But just in case you might have some other things on your mind between now and then, you might want to add it to your Goodreads shelf! Then you'll get an email when it (finally) comes out.
No cover reveal yet, but it's coming...

THE MAGICIAN'S LIE movie news!!!
Nearly fainting of excitement here at Macallister HQ. Not only has The Magician's Lie been optioned for film (incredible!), it's in the hands of the amazing Jessica Chastain, who has launched her own production company, Freckle Films, widely expected to put more women both in front of and behind the camera. Can't express how honored I am to have my book become part of that venture.
Here's one of the many articles on Freckle Films. My Google Alerts went kind of nuts over this.
(The other book optioned, Life and Other Near-Death Experiences by Camille Pagan, was one of my favorite reads last year. Chastain's got fabulous taste!)

great news from Library Journal
Now that we're into 2016, most of the end-of-year lists have come out already -- so I was very pleasantly surprised to see THE MAGICIAN'S LIE pop up on a Library Journal list of Favorite 2015 Debuts.
They called the book "lyrical and mesmerizing" and suggested that "readers will root for Arden, even as they are unsure of whether to trust her." (Author's note: good, that's what I was going for!)

whoopi!
I CANNOT BELIEVE I FORGOT TO BLOG ABOUT THIS.
In December, guest judge Whoopi Goldberg (!) chose THE MAGICIAN'S LIE (!!) as the Main Selection (!!!) for the Book of the Month Club (!!!!)
You can watch a video of her talking about why she loves the book here on YouTube. I may or may not have seen it approximately 3284 times.
