When You Only Say 안녕하세요 and Get Complimented (feat. Andy)
Have you ever been complimented for speaking Korean? It sure feels good.... Or does it? How about when you receive a compliment at the very beginning of a conversation? What if you only say 안녕하세요 and receive a compliment saying that you sound just like a Korean? Does it feel genuine or fake? How do you reply when a Korean compliments you?
I met up with my friend Andy who lives in Korea, and we talked about this kind of situation and what we'd do.
Check it out~

추어탕 도전 먹방 Korean Food Challenge – Mudfish Soup
CHU-EO-TANG (추어탕) is soup made from mudfish. Mudfish are small, long fish that smell a bit. But I'm no stranger to eating fish, so when I heard that visitors to Korea often avoid eating it, I decided I had to give it a try.
I went together with my friend 소영 to try it for our first time. You can get it as either ground or whole mudfish. For this video, we tried the ground-up mudfish soup. Next time I'll definitely get the whole mudfish in my soup. And you eat it together with other toppings such as chives and ground perilla seeds. I'd recommend giving it a try, as long as you like fish. It does have a nice fishy flavor which some people could dislike - but that I love.

Learn Korean Ep. 94: Korean Honorifics (Part 2 of 2)
Keykat's always hogging the internet to herself. How am I supposed to do my super important work when she's watching videos all day on her small cell phone? Well, now I took away her cell phone, so the internet should be a bit faster. It's only fair, right?
This episode will cover more about honorific speech - specifically "humble speech." We'll talk about humble verbs (such as 드리다 and 뵈다) as well as humble particles (such as 께, 께서, and 께서는).
Remember that there are free extended PDFs available for every "Learn Korean" episode (at the bottom of this post), and each contains additional information or examples not covered in the video.
Check out the episode here!

Korean Phrases Ep. 51: 천하장사
This week's new video is a "Korean Phrases" episode. This series is for learning quick idioms and phrases in Korean. Lately, it's mostly been a series for learning about 사자성어 ("4 character idioms"). These types of idioms (mostly) originally come from China and the Chinese language, but are still useful to know in Korean as well. And this week we'll learn about the idiom 천하장사.
Even if you don't use any of these idioms in this series when speaking, you might find them written in books, or hear someone use them when speaking.
Check it out here~

매운 떡볶이 먹방 Spicy Korean Rice Cakes – DDEOKBOKKI
Last month in Korea I decided it would be fun to meet up with some other YouTubers and film a few collaborations. Well the very first time I met with Minji Teaches Korean and Korean Unnie, we went out to eat spicy 떡볶이 and filmed our adventure. 떡볶이 (Ddeokbokki) is a spicy, sweet Korean snack. It's basically rice cakes in a spicy ketchup-like sauce, with fish cake and cheese. Some varieties are lightly spicy, and others are extremely spicy. For this video we went to a place that's notorious for their spicy kind... because why not?

Modern Korean Arcades - 오락실 (O-RAK-SHIL)
Have you wondered what it's like inside of a Korean arcade? It's not likely that you'll find me hanging out at the arcades in Korea, but from time to time I enjoy meeting up with friends and having some fun - especially the dancing games. I went together with my friend 진영 (Jinyoung) and we played for an hour together in an arcade in Seoul.
Watch us play all sorts of games together, including shooting games, the classics (basketball, darts), a punching game (!), karaoke, and of course claw machines.

The Smelliest Korean Food – Raw, Rotten Skate Fish (HONGEO – 홍어)
HONGEO (홍어) is raw, rotten skate fish (similar to a stingray). The skate fish has no bladder, so it urinates through its skin, giving the meat an ammonia smell and flavor. A long time ago fisherman discovered (by accident) that even though their skate fish had become rotten, it was still edible. Not only that, but many people actually liked the flavor, so HONGEO began to become popular.
It wasn't the most delicious food I tried during my trip to Korea, but to quote my friend DINGULSIN, "It was edible."
I tried it together with my friend DINGULSIN (뒹굴신). Check out her channel here: https://goo.gl/HFpX48

Hyunwoo’s Tips for Learning Korean (Beginner and Intermediate) [TTMIK] | Glass with Billy Ep. 6
While in Korea I had the chance to meet up with Hyunwoo from the famous web site (and YouTube channel) Talk To Me In Korean. For those of you who don't know, Hyunwoo is a well-known English teacher who learned English through old-fashioned hard work, studying, and practice. He's also even perhaps more well-known as a Korean teacher. Through his web site, podcast, books, and YouTube videos, he's helped hundreds of thousands of people to improve their Korean abilities.
So naturally I wanted to meet up with him and chat about learning languages. In this video we discuss Hyunwoo's tips for language learners - both beginners, and intermediate-level learners. Check out the video here~!

Sounds Koreans Make – Improve Your Korean with Filler Words
Ever wondered about some of the sounds Korean people make when speaking Korean? Some of these are called "filler words," and they fill space while adding meaning to your sentence. Using "filler words" can help your Korean to sound more like a native's, and they're easy to remember.
Some of the filler words we'll cover are 있잖아(요), 그, 저, Khhhh (however it's spelled), hissing in, 에이, and extended sounds.
Are there any other sounds or filler words you're curious about? Leave a comment here or on the video.
