Everything & Nothing

Walking in the dark,
watching the light,
Listening to everything and nothing.
These are the best days.[image error]

Make Like a Banana

[image error]We all go through stuff. But have you ever noticed that if you wait stuff out, it tends to stop and then somethink happens instead. Like – if a bad thing happens, then it stops (sooner or later) and then a good thing happens in its place. And the reverse is true too.

Life is all about cycles – night and day, winter and summer, rain and evapotranspiration. A banana is a great illustration of (part of) this. Look at the way it doesn’t go in a straight line. Instead it arcs and curves around. It...

Let’s Make Each Other Happy

I love the way that we are all joined together in one way or another. It seems like a massive world and yet we can speak with people who live way over on the other side of it.

I love the way we can smile as we walk down the street and someone can see us doing that and smile back. It’s a small, small world and we’re all in it together.

I love that there are so many ways that we can make each other happy. Let’s do it.

A True Story

Me: (unpacking bag in library)

Librarian: “What’s that?”

Me: “Erm, it’s (reading from jar) Mixed Vegetable Pickle?”

Librarian: “You’re not going to eat that now are you?”

Me: (laughs) “No, it’s for my dinner.”

Librarian: (walks off then comes back) “It’s just that if people see that they might think that it’s okay to eat in the library.”

Me: (taking laptop from bag) “It was on top of my laptop and I had to take it out first to get to it (puts laptop on desk, picks up jar and slides it into ba...

An England State of Mind (The Breath Hip Hop)

Yeah, yeah
Ayo, cycpyper, it’s time.
It’s time, cycpyper (aight, cycpyper, begin).
Straight out the soft dungeons of rap.

The cheek drops deep as does my shoulder.
I never leave, ’cause to leave is the friend of colder.
Beyond the walls of tears, life is defined.
I think of loss when I’m in an England state of mind.

Hope the stakeholder got some boulder.
My shareholder don’t like no dirty shoulder.
Run up to the folder and get the holder.
In an England state of mind.

What more could you ask f...

Good for You

You should dance daily.
It’s good for you.

You should get out more.
It’s good for you.

You should eat healthier.
It’s good for you.

You should sleep better.
It’s good for you.

You should worry less.
It’s good for you.

But most of all,

Most, most, most of all,

Most, most, most, most, mostest of all,

You should make your own damn mind up what’s good for you.

And if you do,
Then good for you!

Why Women Don’t Get Prostate Cancer

I’ve just figured out why women don’t get prostate cancer – it’s because they swing their hips when they walk.

This actually exercises their groin area and stops any destructive tension building up around that crucial juntion.

Men, on the other hand, just move their legs backwards and forwards without any sort of sideways sway – which I totally understand because, like, men who roll their arses do look rather odd.

So, as a result of all this backwards and forwards motion and what with their j...

To Spill or Not to Spill (Guts)

Confessional posts are common on WordPress – heck, I’m willing to bet you’ve written a few of them yourself – I know that I have.

There’s a fine line between:

Sharing feelings in a way that genuinely helps the writer come to terms with and get some help for the things that are weighing them down. Spilling one’s guts in a way that one slips and trips in the gory mess and goes down with an almighty thud and brings others down at the same time.

Depression is a real thing and should not be...

Demons are an Endagered Species

How many of you have seen a demon lately? Not me. I’ve been looking in all sorts of places and I haven’t seen a single one.

I think that they are an endangered species. Maybe there is far too much good in and light in the world for them to survive.

Or maybe they are hiding.

Where would they go tho?

There’s a fire extinguisher next to this desk – doubt that this would be a good hiding place for one that is used to the fire.

Lots and lots of trees here in York. I wonder if the faces that we see...

The Heart of Man

Clammy hands, late at night, needed to sleep and yet – a need was upon him. Riding him like a red hood. A wolf at the door of his nether-mind.

He washed at the kitchen sink. Soaped his palms until he felt the squeak. Sure that they were clean. An illusion. The towel smelled of old biscuits. Didn’t want to think why.

Threw it into the laundry like thoughts from his mind. Misjudged. Fell to the ground. He left them there amidst the dust.

Brought her image to mind and felt that old jolt of energ...
