Allynn Riggs began telling stories before she could write them down, and after being nagged and cajoled be a determined collection of fictional characters for many years, surrendered and shifted careers to tell their stories.

When Allynn is not writing, she avidly participates in and teaches square dancing and hunts big game. The mother of three grown daughters, Allynn lives in Centennial, Colorado with her husband, Bob.

"The Balance: The Stone's Blade, Book Two" was published September 1, 2016. It received a Second Place Award in Science Fiction category in the 2017 Colorado Independent Publishers Association's EVVY Awards in August 2017. I have about 97,000 words and am working my way through editing the editor's first round of edits. I hope to have that "finished" by the end of July 2015. A late 2015 publication date is what I am aiming for. We will see how the blade is sharpened.

A stand alone fantasy is on the back burner until I can get at least the first three books in The Stone's Blade series done. Occasionally, scenes related to this story-line pop up in dreams or during meditation times. I am looking forward to working on it.

A side project is ghost writing a children's story for a friend of mine who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. I recorded her telling me the story and got it drafted before she passed away in November 2014. We laughed a lot when we worked on it. I hope to publish it through my own company. Any proceeds will go to her "family" in the P.E.O. and their educational scholarships and grants. I am looking for an illustrator.

Music with words distracts me from the writing. I will take breaks to read something new or more especially books I read and loved when I was in high school and college. Those authors and their stories ground me and inspire me to continue. I also take long hot showers, go swimming or go on drives to inspirational view points. I always have a pad of paper and writing tools on hand so I can write down ideas, words, situations etc. that will pop up. (less)

Deciding what to write, whether in a blog, a short story, novel, nonfiction article, children’s, YA, or adult is just a simple decision, right? A decision, yes. Simple? No.

Is it just picking up a pen or pencil or turning on a computer and start typing? Not really, though sometimes that’s a start. Sometimes we just need to start. But start where? At the beginning. With individual letters, then w...

Allynn Riggs Lucinda,
I will be shipping the books out on Monday. The winner list arrived yesterday but I was out of town and post offices are closed today, Sunday. I hope you are out of the hospital before the book arrives. I am excited to have more than half the winners from outside the United States. Please let me know when you receive it. A delay in review is no problem, get well first. I hope "The Blood (The Stones Blade, #1)" will entertain you. I look forward to reader reaction and discussions. One of my daughters is encouraging me to post Youtube Podcasts of my reading the book. It won't be as good as a professional reader but having read it aloud to myself during the final editing process I find I am excited about sharing it with others verbally as well as in print. The e-book will be available at a reduced price starting May 8th (today) through the 14th in a Kindle Countdown Deal on Amazon.com. I think you can get in the UK if you have a Kindle device. Let your friends know.

Keep reading and concentrate on the joy books can give you - smile a lot - know that you are healing. I look forward to future conversations, opinions and your review of "The Blood".

Allynn

Lucinda Dear Allynn,
Thanks so much for accepting my friend request! I am delighted to have won {through a first-read giveaway} a copy of your debut novel "The Blood (The Stone's Blade, #1)", which I am really looking forward to reading and reviewing.
Kind Regards
Lucinda F

PS.- I am currently in hospital and so although able to read books, it may be a while before I can post a review online: on Goodreads and Amazon websites. I do hope this delay is okay?
Many thanks x
