A Fragmented Reality

After the fall of Atlantis, the records of humanity were separated and hidden in remote corners of the Earth. The Kali Yuga had begun. Humanity had fallen from its highest peak. The memories of its monuments and accomplishments are reduced to fragments, ancient bones of our mysterious past of wonder far beyond the scope of what we know even today as achievement.

In this shattering, humanity’s connection to the soul has been severed. The dark ages saw to the systematic destruction of our holy pe...

The Quest for Mystical Atlantis

About one year ago I moved to Egypt. At the time I didn't realize that's what I was doing, but things turned out the way they did, and that’s that. I have lived my life with wanderlust, always searching for something elusive. I rationalize it by searching for Atlantis. Since I like to follow the esoteric teachings of the subject, I set out on this particular trip to follow ley lines.

Before we move forward, keep in mind that as far as new age spirituality is concerned, I am very well-versed in...

Writings from the Borderline: The Beast Within

If you are on social media and you have eyes, you will see that there's a huge court case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard going on right now. When it came to light that Ms. Heard has Borderline Personality Disorder, I felt the need to share this blog post in the public arena. Earlier in 2022 I made the decision to start writing a blog on Patreon about how I navigate through life as a creative with BPD. My posts are only accessed through subscription. Part of that is because I need to make mo...

This is the Truth. Or is it?

Lately I have been fascinated with pandemic deniers. It’s gone a long way toward inspiring my work this year in place of my ability to carouse at parties. If you somehow take this personally, let me apologize. But if you read my work, you will see that all of this has been written in the story already. It’s what ultimately causes the downfall of Atlantis. But I get ahead of myself.

Now I’m going to get all esoteric. Here’s where it gets fun.

When I first started studying all this esoteric ...

Did Nubia and Atlantis Merge and Form Egypt?

The study of the great mystery of Atlantis is best served by following ancient legends around the world. Most accepted world history doesn’t span far enough back to record the megalithic monuments that are often dated at over 10 thousand years old.

My recent fascination is with the continent of Africa. This is said to be the cradle of humanity… the original location of the Garden of Eden. I have been tracing African history through the legends of ancient people. There have been many occult refer...

Cognitive Dissonance: The Downfall of Atlantis.

Shadows of Atlantis is as much a philosophical text as it is a fantasy hero's journey. Many of the esoterics discussed that the downfall of Atlantis was much more than just shifting geology. It was the gradual implosion of the human condition that caused it to crumble. But how would that be possible, one might ask?

The answer is cognitive dissonance. In order for the human race to co-exist, we have to take into account that each and every one of us has our own filter through which we see the ...

Atlantis: From Utopian Allegory to Underwater Fantasy Kingdom

Public Domain from Wikimedia Commons

“…there occurred violent earthquakes and floods;

and in a single day and night of misfortune…

the island of Atlantis disappeared in the depths of the sea.”

-Plato Timaeus/Critius

The world over has been wondering why Hollywood keeps churning out the same stories. We seem to be trapped in the endless cycle of reboots. But let’s face it, Joseph Campbell had it right when he created his treatise on the “monomyth.” The point is, all stories are recycled over and over, and appear behind many fa...

On the Creation of Symbiosis

Cover Design by Tony Peluce

I’ve never been a patient person. The very nature of writing books requires patience. It is a trait I have had to work to develop. One might say, practicing patience and contentment in non-motion has been my character arc. As I prepare to publish book two after having to wait longer than anticipated, the entire world has been wrapped up in the Covid-19 pandemic for the better part of a year. It has forced all of us to practice patience. I feel like the world finally u...

Metaphysical: A Poem by Mara Powers

There’s a space between us
in the places no one sees.
Invisible, the air, and yet it lives there in the breeze.

What is nothing could be something
that our eyes have yet to trust
besides the random drifting fluff
or sunlight sparkling dust.

If I switch my focus to what might be in the gap,
like looking at the surface of a window,
not what’s past.
Perhaps the physical won’t last.

And I might slip into the spaces in between
And there might be a doorway to a mystical routine.
...

A Civilization with Madness

By Mara Powers

www.shadowsofatlantis.com

During the pandemic, I've been watching the spectacle of politics in my home country. I’ve come to think of the U.S.A. as the D.S.A. - Divided, rather than united. It's been almost debilitating for many of the creative types I know. Inspiration is at a standstill, if not mostly depleted. We have split into different narratives to the point of cognitive dissonance, which, to me, is the downfall of civilizations. It fits the narrative of my writing to a haunt...
