It was very frustrating to me, as I'm sure it is for all writers. It's like being pregnant but unable to give birth, or having something on the tip of your tongue but no way to say it. Eventually, I learned to work with my writer's block. Now I will sit and watch movies, dramas or comedies; I will listen to music, all types of music. I will be with my family, and especially the kids in my family (who are always energetic and with something insightful to say). Pretty soon the words that have evaded me come to me like a whisper in a harsh wind, and if I am still enough and quiet enough the words come through crystal clear. I don't push it. I just let the words flow through me. No matter what time it is, day or night, I sit and begin writing.(less)

There is also the wonder of possibility. In a writer's imagination anything is possible, daydreams are like movies, feelings have so much impact, and your mind's eye sees everything. But also in a writer's imagination exists his fears, and it sometimes is the only place--in his imagination--where he can face his fears, conquer them, and then use that battle to teach or entertain.(less)

A fast, imaginative read. The author has excellent imagination, pacing, sense of suspense, and a knack for creating works that you simply cannot put down. Very enjoyable.

A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena
"A Stranger In The House is a light, quick murder mystery. Not as great as Shari Lapena's first novel The Couple Next Door, the plot wasn't as tight or crisp in this book, but it was still a good and fun if predictable read. The story kept me engro..." Read more of this review »

Not a bad book in the least, just formulaic in that this author turns out similar settings and situations with each work (mostly involving husbands and wives who hold a number of secrets until something devastating happens and everything is exposed). ...more

“Before the autumn of our years, there exists a time when we struggle to reconcile what we are with what we wish to be. This time can be known as summer. After spring gives us life, before winter takes it away.”
H.L. Sudler, Summerville

“The ocean drummed as loud as pulsating blood, eroding the sand, rushing the beach as if it had a point to prove. And like many things, it receded, was gone, and was replaced anew.”
H.L. Sudler, Summerville

“Alone. Yes, that's the key word, the most awful word in the English tongue. Murder doesn't hold a candle to it and hell is only a poor synonym.”
Stephen King
