Sunday Inspiration: An Irish Blessing

An Irish blessing

May love and laughter light your days,
And warm your heart and home,
May good and faithful friends be yours,
Wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world,
With joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
Bring the best to you and yours.love and laughter light your days,
And warm your heart and home,
May good and faithful friends be yours,
Wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world,
With joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
Bring the best to you and yours.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to one and all!

Sunday Inspiration: Water Flows

Water flows

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”

Margaret Atwood

Sunday Inspiration: Be a tornado!

Be a tornado “You don’t have to move mountains.
Simply fall in love with life.
Be a tornado of happiness, gratitude, and acceptance.
You will change the world just by being a warm,
kind-hearted human being.”– Anita Krizzan

Sunday Inspiration: Happy Valentine’s Day

love isn't something natural

“Love isn’t something natural.Rather it requires discipline, concentration, patience, faith, and the overcoming of narcissism. It isn’t a feeling, it is a practice.” –Eric Fromm

Years have passed since I read Eric Fromm’s The Art of Loving, but I still find his notions of love to be inspirational.

Fromm doesn’t sugar coat love and blow fairy dust. He emphasizes that love is a mature choice, and it’s not an easy one. Love requires a letting go of ego, a sacrifice of rigidity, and a commitment to practicing love in all we do.

“Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence,” he writes.

I agree with all my heart.

Happy Valentine’s Day — just a little early.

Sunday Inspiration: Great Minds

Great minds

“Stay away from those people
who try to disparage your ambitions.
Small minds will always do that,
but great minds will give you
a feeling that you can become great too.”

-Mark Twain

Sunday Inspiration: Don’t prioritise your looks!

don't prioritize your looks

Don’t prioritise your looks, my friend,
they won’t last the journey.
Your sense of humour though, will only get better.
Your intuition will grow and expand like a majestic cloak of wisdom.
Your ability to choose your battles, will be fine-tuned to perfection.
Your capacity for stillness, for living in the moment, will blossom.
And your desire to live each and every moment will transcend all other wants.
Your instinct for knowing what (and who) is worth your time, will grow and flourish like ivy on a castle wall.
Don’t prioritise your looks my friend,
they will change forevermore,
that pursuit is one of much sadness and disappointment.
Prioritise the uniqueness that makes you you,
and the invisible magnet that draws in other like-minded souls to dance in your orbit.
These are the things which will only get better.

By Donna Ashworth (often wrongly attributed to Dame Judi Dench)
From poetry collection, “The Right Words’’

While we in North America spell prioritize with a z, in the UK it’s spelled with an s. Just so you know—I didn’t.

Sunday Inspiration: The Promised Land

The Promised Land

“We’ve got some difficult days ahead.
But it really doesn’t matter with me now
because I’ve been to the mountaintop…
I’ve looked over and I’ve seen the promised land.
I may not get there with you.
But I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sunday Inspiration: Gratitude

gratitude

“No amount of regret changes the past.
No amount of anxiety changes the future.
But any amount of gratitude
changes the present.”
-Ann Voscamp

The holidays are over, and no matter how perfect or imperfect they were, I hope each of us finds much to be grateful for and that we carry that with us into the new year.

Here’s to 2024, a  year to practice gratitude.

Sunday Inspiration: Merry Christmas!

the spirit of christmas

“The spirit of Christmas
is the spirit of love and of generosity and of goodness.
It illuminates the picture window of the soul,
and we look out upon the world’s busy life
and become more interested in people than in things.”
-Thomas S. Monson

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you, (including your four-legged friends).
