My 5 Star Review of Elle Klass's Eye of the Storm: Eilida's Tragedy

SynopsisIt’s a normal day for Sunshine as she takes the seat at her desk as receptionist at the Lyden Times until the tragedy of a young nameless woman floods the newsroom. Her head and body covered in bloody gashes and fresh bruises. Sunshine forms an immediate interest and digs into her life. After learning her identity, Eilida, she pokes around her hometown where she is mistaken for Eilida. Soon Sunshine’s world crashes. Everything she loved begins to fade. She trades in her skirts and heels for jeans and sneakers. A ghost avails itself to her and a man with eyes dark as coal stalks her dreams and waking nightmares. Her fiancé worries as he can’t wrap his mind around her transformation yet refuses to let go. Time ticks down as their wedding date approaches on the anniversary of a day that changed Eilida’s life forever…My Review: 5 STARSEye of the Storm is a brilliant, intense, and shocking novella.
Sunshine is the epitome of her name. Her life is perfect—from her job at the local newspaper despite a few annoying co-workers to her wealthy boyfriend who is days from proposing—and full of sunshine until a “Jane Doe” shows up at the local hospital and sends her life into a tailspin. Not only does the woman’s appearance become the main focus of the newspaper, but she become Sunshine’s. Feeling attached to the woman somehow, Sunshine sets out to find out who she is and what happened to her.
In her pursuit to find out all she can about this woman, Sunshine begins to suffer memory loss, hallucinations, and dreams of a life she didn’t live. Her connection to Eilida, the woman in the hospital, becomes apparent, but the how they are related remains a mystery to Sunshine.
Things happen in the novel that seemingly don’t make sense, like how can Eilida’s boyfriend not know she is in the hospital when Eilida’s roommate, parents, and school all know, and they frustrated me at first because I honestly thought they were holes in the plot. I was wrong, boy was I wrong. Okay, so if I say much more, I’ll be giving too much away, and you have to read this for yourself to find out the big twist ending.
One more thing, the epilogue will definitely, leave you wanting the next book in the trilogy. Speaking of…
Oh, I forgot to mention that I listened to the audio version of this novella (a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review), and the narrator made a perfect Sunshine. At first I thought she sounded too young, but once I got to know Sunshine and just how sweet and innocent she is, I knew the narrator was perfect for her.Amazon Link Audible Link

#8Sunday & #SnippetSunday Excerpt from Saying Goodbye

Happy New Year, everyone. Thank you for stopping by my post on the Snippet Sunday & Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday blog hop. I’m sorry for missing last week, but my husband and I were sick. I’m feeling much better today.
Today, I’m sharing my last post from my newly released novella, Saying Goodbye, a paranormal love story. This novella went on sale Saturday, January 9, 2016 and is only $1.99. Next week, I’m going to start sharing from Outcast, book 2 in my Supernaturals series coming this spring.
The following snippet comes from the first chapter. If you remember from the last snippet, Michael and Erica were discussing her Halloween costume. ~~~~“Are you really that eager to get back home?” she said teasingly, turning at the door to look at him. “You’ve been waiting for this party all week. It’s all you’ve been talking about.”
“Shut up. I know I have, but I want you more than I want to be with my friends,” he said, reaching out to grab her behind. She jerked out of his way and flung open the front door.
Erica made a mental note to herself to purchase the costume and wear it whenever he wanted to go somewhere she didn’t want to go. She wondered if it would be a good enough distraction to get her out of having to sit through hours and hours of watching football on television.~~~~That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you for stopping by. If you want to read more excerpts from other authors or if you want to join in the fun, stop by both blogs and peruse their sights. #8Sunday Snippet Sunday

Little Book of Horrors by Lacey Lane
Lacey Lane
Interesting facts...
I write horror and non fiction. I currently have two books published. The Revenge of the Pumpkins and The Ultimate Guide to Frugal Living.
The Little Book of Horrors is now available in paperback. As well as the horrors that can be found in the Kindle version, you will also find a bonus story: The Revenge of the Pumpkins.
Who says short stories cannot pack a punch? Lacey Lane is a talented author with a Tarantino type style of wickedness in her storytelling.
"If you’re not a fan of horrible things happening to horrible and innocent people alike, put this book back on its virtual book shelf and go and watch some fluffy kitten videos. If you are however a fan of grizzly horror and not averse to some raunchy sex scenes, then put this in your shopping basket and enjoy with the lights switched on."

She wanted it all, and soon. Rhoda would kill to get it.

#WIP IT WEDNESDAY Excerpt from Saying Goodbye, a paranormal love story.

Happy New Year, everyone. Welcome to my post on WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY. If you are new to this hop or are just now deciding that joining this hop would be a great idea, visit the WIP IT IP WEDNESDAY blog home page at: http://wipitupwednesday.blogspot.co.uk/ to read the sign-up instructions. Also on that page, you will find links to other wonderful authors and their WIP.Today I’ll be continuing to share an excerpt from my new release, Saying Goodbye. This scene takes place about a two weeks after Michael’s death, and we see that Erica might have a surprise coming her way. ---That Saturday, the first thing Erica did when she got home from work was go for the boxes, which her father had shoved into the downstairs closet. Neither parent said a word. Erica didn’t open the boxes right away. She ordered a pizza, snatched a few beers from the fridge—her dad scowled, but promised not to tell her mother—and a pint of cookie dough ice cream out of the deep freeze, then locked herself in her room.A few times her mother knocked on the door to check on her, but Erica promised her that she was all right, and she heard her dad tell her mom to leave her be.Erica cried like a baby as she flipped through photos. Later, she stripped down naked and put on one of her favorite shirts of his so that all she could smell was him. She stuffed her face, got a little tipsy, and mixed those random items of his she kept in with her own stuff. When she finally got everything put away but that box of condoms it was late. She held the box, wondering what she should do with it. She didn’t plan to have sex ever again—couldn’t imagine herself letting anyone be that close to her. That act was too personal, too soul touching to do with just anyone, and she couldn’t believe she would ever find another person whom she could love so deeply.Erica remembered the day they had first gotten condoms. Natalie, a friend of hers from high school had gone to the health department to get on birth control. As she was leaving, the nurse at the desk gave her a bag of condoms. She in turn gave them to Erica. Natalie hadn’t gone on the pill because she was having sex. Her periods were bad, and she had heard that getting on the pill would help. Natalie’s mother was one of those people who would have automatically assumed she was sleeping around if she asked her mother to take her to the doctor, so she went to the health department.Michael and Erica had just started having sex, so they jumped at the chance to get free condoms, and since Erica really needed to be on the pill, they made themselves an appointment. They had been embarrassed to ask for condoms at their first visit to the same health department, but the lady at the desk had given them some as they were checking out.The memory sobered her. Erica looked into the box to see that it was two-thirds full. Over the last year or so, they hadn’t been as careful as they had been in high school. Children were something they were no longer afraid of having. No, they hadn’t wanted them so soon. They had wanted them after Michael was running his own restaurant and they were married, but they weren’t as actively trying to prevent them, as they should have been. She clutched the box to her chest and fell back into her pillows, thinking, What if? Had they used protection that last time they had had sex? Had they done anything else? She was no longer on the pill. She’d forgotten to get her prescription renewed and had missed her last yearly checkup. Between classes and working, she had let it slip her mind.Could I be pregnant? she thought. Could I be lucky enough to have one last thing from him? Something that would mean more to me than the world.---That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.---
