Excerpt from Fated, Supernaturals Book 3, a Paranormal Romance coming soon.

I didn't do anything yesterday but nap. Friday and today, though, I've managed to work on Fated. Mostly, what I've done is research coyotes, but I was able to get through three chapters. I'm liking where my changes are taking me. Here is a snippet for you guys to tide you over until the next time I get to stop in with an update.

Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a Paranormal Romance, coming soon.

Leigh Alexander has lived every day of her life feeling like an outcast amongst her family and the small-minded people of Pine Hollow, a secretive community to which her parents belong. When Danielle, Leigh’s younger sister, asks Leigh to come home for her wedding, Leigh’s torn between wanting to be there for her sister and saving herself from people who’ve despised her all of her life.Knowing she’ll regret her decision, Leigh gives into her sister and goes home for what she hopes is the last time. Leigh was prepared for people to ignore her, for them to shun her, for them to point out all the ways she didn’t belong all because she wasn’t a size perfect, but what she hadn’t been prepared for was falling for Ryan Hart, a man who she will soon learn knows all of the secrets her family and the town of Pine Hollow refuse to tell her.Revealing the truth about Pine Hollow and the rest of the supernatural world might be forbidden, but to save Leigh’s life, Ryan will tell her everything about who she is, or more importantly who she isn’t, even if it will forever change her life and the lives of every person in Pine Hollow.

#SnippetSunday & #8Sunday Excerpt from Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, coming soon.

Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a great Sunday. Thank you for stopping by my post on the Snippet Sunday & Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday blog hop. Stop by the Snippet Sunday Facebook page and/or the #8Sunday website to read excerpts from more authors. Today, I’m sharing from my upcoming release, Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a paranormal romance. This snippet shows us a bit more about how the pack sees Leigh and how Ryan feels about the situation.---I had only caught a few glimpses of Leigh over the last year as Danielle’s and Dave’s family planned the wedding. For reasons that pissed me off, a fact I had voiced many times to Dave but to no one else, Dave’s family had insisted that Leigh not be a part of planning things. The pack Council had insisted that she not be a part of the wedding at all. Danielle fluctuated between begging them to let her come and threatening to leave the pack if they. Her persistence made them come to a compromise to allow her to come to the actual event as long as she stayed in the shadows. Up until then, her family had had to make excuses and be downright mean to their eldest daughter to keep her out of the preparations and town as much as possible.I could tell that this had hurt Leigh but, at the same time, relieved her. She seemed to want to be on the outside of things, and I had an idea why, and that just pissed me off more. She didn’t see herself worthy or beautiful enough to stand up in front of the chapel and the guests with her sister and all of the rest of the women from the pack. This view of herself came from the snide comments pack members have made in her vicinity over the years.---That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by. If you want to read more excerpts from other authors or if you want to join in the fun, stop by both blogs and peruse their sights.---Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a Paranormal Romance

Excerpt from Fated, Supernaturals Book 3, a paranormal romance coming this fall/winter.

I started the third draft of Fated, book 3 of my Supernaturals Series, today. I had to a bit of work to do in chapter one, but not with chapter two, so I didn't have too hard of day. I can tell that the changes I made to the second draft have really drawn me into the story more. Yay!! I might actually get to release this one this year. I'm hoping to work on a few more chapters tomorrow, so until then, here is an excerpt from chapter 1 for you.

#WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY Excerpt from Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day (a day early), everyone. I hope your week has been amazing so far. Welcome to my post on WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY blog hop. If you are new to this hop or are just now deciding that joining this hop would be a great idea, visit the WIP IT IP WEDNESDAY blog home page to read the sign-up instructions. Also on that page, you will find links to other wonderful authors and their WIP.This week I’m continuing from where I left off last week with my upcoming release, Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a paranormal romance. This excerpt comes at the end of chapter 3. I skipped ahead a bit because most of chapter two was about pack politics and Dave and Danielle, not Ryan and Leigh, our main characters, and some of chapter three deals with Leigh’s past. We are now in Leigh’s point of view.---As I stood in front of my seat in the back of the chapel not caring about how awful my face looked from all of the crying I’d been doing, I kept Danielle in my line of sight as she made her way to the front of the room. I ignored all the glares I felt boring into me. I didn’t even acknowledge Maddie’s smug look when Danielle stepped in front of her to face her husband-to-be. I wasn’t going to let anyone get to me to the point that I said or did anything to ruin Danielle’s day for her.I could ignore all the hateful glares aimed my way, but there was one set of eyes I couldn’t shake. They were eyes that I was always drawn to when I did deign to come around my family. They were eyes I pretended to ignore, but eyes I saw in my sleep every night. I stood still even though I felt Ryan’s heated gaze on me, watching my every move. I couldn’t decide if he was giving me attention as part of a practical joke or if he was actually interested in me. The ache in my lower belly that I got every time I was in his presence told me that I was definitely interested in him, but I wasn’t going to let him play me or allow him to exile himself because of me if he was truly interested. When I couldn’t hold myself back any longer, I looked at him out of the corner of my eye. He was indeed staring at me. His gaze seemed to be examining every inch of my face, my body. My already red and puffy face heated more, so I blotted my eyes, fanned my face with the program, and tried not to look at him. My efforts weren’t enough, and every so often I glanced his way to see him still watching me.What he was looking for, I didn’t know, but if I didn’t know any better, I would swear he was undressing me, caressing me with those eyes. I felt my body flush deeper from this presumed perusal of me, but I refused to let him know that I knew he was watching me. I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing I was embarrassed and turned on by his stare. There was still a chance that I was misinterpreting the feel of his gaze, and if I was wrong, I wouldn’t be able to handle that kind of humiliation, not when the longer he stared, the more I wanted so badly for my first assumption to be correct.---That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.---Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a paranormal romance.

#WIP IT WEDNESDAY Excerpt from Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a paranormal romance, coming soon.

Hello everyone. I hope your week has been amazing so far. Welcome to my post on WIP IT UP WEDNESDAY blog hop. Also on that page, you will find links to other wonderful authors and their WIP.

This week I’m continuing from where I left off last week (I forgot to add my link to the hop last week, but as some people may have read last week’s post, I’m moving forward.) my upcoming release, Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, a paranormal romance. I have tentative blurb and cover. What do you guys think?

Leigh Alexander has lived every day of her life feeling like an outcast amongst her family and the small-minded people of Pine Hollow, a secretive community to which her parents belong. When Danielle, Leigh’s younger sister, asks Leigh to come home for her wedding, Leigh’s torn between being there for her sister and keeping the promise she’d made to herself to never allow those people near her again.

Knowing she’ll regret her decision, Leigh gives into her sister and goes home for what she hopes is the last time. Leigh was prepared for people to ignore her, for them to shun her, for them to point out all the ways she didn’t belong all because she wasn’t a size perfect, but what she hadn’t been prepared for was falling for Ryan Hart, a man she will soon learn who knows all of the secrets her family and the town of Pine Hollow refuse to tell her.

Revealing the truth about Pine Hollow and the rest of the Supernatural world might be forbidden, but to save Leigh’s life, Ryan will tell her everything about who she is, or more importantly who she isn’t, even if it will forever change her life and the lives of every person in Pine Hollow.

This excerpt starts chapter 2. We are still in Ryan’s point of view.

---

Tiffany patted my arm to draw me out of my thoughts of Leigh and back to the matter at hand. I was her escort for this event, not by choice mind you, but it would be rude of me to not pay attention to what I was doing. The woman stood too close to me as we made our way to the chapel entrance and down the aisle, causing my wolf to snarl in disgust and beg me to back away from her. Another thing he had never done when in the presence of a fellow pack mate. I couldn’t blame him though. If she had been any closer, I would’ve been carrying her. When she slid her hand up my arm, I did let my wolf snarl at her once, but that didn’t seem to bother her. By the scent wafting around her, it turned her on, which was disgusting.

Briefly, when we first entered the room, I cut a glance over to Leigh, but she was looking down at her hands and not up at us. I could see tears rolling down her cheeks and her body softly heaving. Her tears made my muscles clinch in anger. The result was my pulling Tiffany tighter to me, giving the woman the wrong impression. My wolf screamed at me to push Tiffany aside and comfort Leigh. If the simple act wouldn’t have disrupted and possibly even stopped the wedding, I would have obeyed him.

Not caring what anyone thought, said, or did, when I released Tiffany—by released, I mean forcibly pried her arm out of mine—and took my place behind Dave and his best man, I turned to watch Leigh. I wanted her to see me, to know that I was watching her, to maybe understand that I cared even if no one else seemed to. She never looked my way. Her head stayed bowed until her sister and father entered the room. She stood with everyone else as the two passed through the doorway, and Dave’s mother’s overly dramatic tears drowned out her sobs. Leigh’s entire body heaved from the force of her tears, and with the shade of red her face was turning, I feared she was going to hyperventilate.

More than anything at that moment, I wanted to snatch Leigh up and put her behind her sister. Okay, what I actually wanted to do was take her far from this place, but I knew putting her in line with her sister would make her happier. She belonged with her family. She belonged behind her sister as the maid of honor. I took comfort in seeing Danielle turn to Leigh and mouth, ‘I love you,’ which made Leigh cry harder and brought tears to Danielle’s eyes.

My body jerked. My wolf rippled my skin, and if it hadn’t been for Dave reaching over and grabbing my shoulder, I think I would have jumped from the stage, shifting mid-flight and attacking everyone in the room who had brought this misery down on Leigh.

“Ryan,” Dave said in a whisper, staring directly into my eyes. “Calm down. This will be over soon.” His tone echoed with a command that neither my wolf nor I would dare defy.

I nodded, breathed deep, and felt my wolf settled a tiny bit.

I heard murmuring from the wedding party and the crowd, signifying that I wasn’t the only one who saw Danielle’s actions and that Dave wasn’t the only one who saw my near transformation at Leigh’s reaction. At that moment, I was proud of us both for our acts of rebellion even though no one else was. Dave’s mother would be livid, but she wouldn’t dare make a scene. The Council would bring us both in for questioning. My parents would threaten to disown me, but none of that mattered to me. I was telling them all to get bent after the wedding anyway.

My blood boiled a second later though, when I saw Leigh and Danielle’s father tug slightly on Danielle’s arm to get her to turn around. He didn’t look over at his eldest daughter or say a word about what Danielle had done, but his silent command said it all for him. Leigh was to be ignored. His expression was hard, not showing any remorse or satisfaction in what he did. The pact would be proud of him. Any other action would have shown weakness, and would have probably been an automatic expulsion from the pack. If it weren’t for the fact that Dave and Danielle were madly in love with each other, I would say that getting kicked out of the pack would be a good thing.

The man was torn; I was sure. In his place, I don’t know what I would do. Either way you hurt one of your daughters.

---

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it.

#SnippetSunday & #8Sunday Excerpt from #Outcast, Supernaturals Book 2, coming soon.

Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a great Sunday. Thank you for stopping by my post on the Snippet Sunday & Writing Warriors’ #8Sunday blog hop. Stop by the Snippet Sunday Facebook page and/or the #8Sunday website to read excerpts from more authors.Today, I’m sharing from my upcoming release, Outcast, a paranormal romance. I’m working on blurb for as we speak. This is what I have so far. What do you think:Leigh Alexander has lived every day of her life feeling like an outcast amongst her family and the small-minded people of Pine Hollow, a secretive community in which her parents had been a part of before she was born. When Danielle, Leigh’s younger sister, asks Leigh to come home for her wedding, Leigh’s torn between being there for her sister and keeping the promise she’d made to herself to never be around those people again.Knowing she’ll regret her decision, Leigh gives into her sister and goes home for what she hopes is the last time. I’m so in love with it. I can’t wait to share it with you.The follows my previous post. Ryan is still pacing outside the chapel doors waiting for the wedding party to arrive and thinking about his best friend, the sister of the bride, and how dysfunctional his pack is.---Thinking of Danielle’s differences turned my thoughts to why she was different and to why she lived in the human world and not in the supernatural one, and thinking of that person brought on an entirely new wave of nerves, as I anticipated seeing that particular female again, which made me pace faster. She was the real reason my wolf was about to jump out of my human skin, if the truth be told.Danielle’s sister, Leigh, was human, voluptuous, delectable, and if I had my say, would be mine before the night was over. Despite the need for her coursing through my veins, the mere thought of her put me on edge. The jitters didn’t necessarily come from the way I felt about her, but from the way the rest of my pack felt about her. Every conversation I had or had overhead the two days we were at the hotel revolved around how angry, revolted, annoyed the person or persons were that she was there. I kept my mouth shut for fear of causing the poor woman and her family any more trouble, but I had a hard time doing so. My family and pack weren’t mean people to each other, but to outsiders, they could be outright vicious. They were trained to be. To survive in our pack, you had to outright hate anyone who wasn’t pack, or the Council would be displeased. ---That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by. If you want to read more excerpts from other authors or if you want to join in the fun, stop by both blogs and peruse their sights.---

Excerpt from Fated, Supernaturals Book 3, coming soon.

I finished the second draft of Fated today. I love the middle, but the beginning and ending need a good deal more work. For now, though, I'm going to set it aside to finish the first draft of a novella that I'm working on. That means this is the last snippet from Fated for a while. ‪#‎jenniferreynolds‬ ‪#‎fated‬ ‪#‎paranormalromance‬ ‪#‎wip‬

Excerpt from Fated, Supernaturals Book 3, coming soon.

I'm not working on Fated as fast I would like, but I'm nearing the end of the novel. I think I only have about 50 to 75 pages to go. This novel will be longer than Outcast. I'm liking the way this draft is working out, but I have a feeling I have a few more drafts to go before I will send it to my editor. Here is a snippet from one of the chapters I worked on today.

Leigh Alexander has lived every day of her life feeling like an outcast amongst her family and the small-minded people of Pine Hollow, a secretive community in which her parents had been a part of be-fore she was born, and when Leigh’s sister asks Leigh to come for her wedding, Leigh’s torn between being there for her sister and staying home so as to not suffer through the verbal abuse she knows is coming her way if she goes.
Knowing she’ll regret her decision, Leigh gives into her sister and goes home for what she hopes is the last time. Leigh was ready to be ignored, to be shunned, to be told she didn’t belong all because she was a size eighteen, but what she hadn’t been ready for was falling for Ryan Hart, a man who knows all of the secrets Leigh’s family and the town of Pine Hollow refuse to tell her.
Ryan might be sworn to secrecy, but to save Leigh emotionally and physically, he’ll tell her everything about who she is, or more importantly who she isn’t, even if it will forever change her life and the lives of every person living in Pine Hollow.

My cover artist has also started working on the cover. Maybe I’ll have something for you guys to see next week.

The following is a continuation from last week’s post. I’ve decided to give you the remainer of chapter one.

Hearing one of Dave’s brothers call my name from the hall, I rushed to where the wedding procession was lining up. I stood just behind Allen, Dave’s brother and best man, my arm locked with Tiffany, a tall redheaded bridesmaid with no hips, small breasts, and cute freckles. She was Danielle’s cousin. Tiffany was adorable, and at one time, I had contemplated asking her out, but then she spoke, showing me who she really was, and that thought had dissipated.
We had been at a birthday party for Danielle when I had talked to Tiffany for the first time. A minute after I thought of asking the girl out, Leigh had walked into the room, and she had been all I could think about the rest of the day. Even though she had never spoken more than a few words to me in all the years I’d known her, she has stayed on my mind.

Tiffany’s comment, the one that had made me instantly dislike her, had been about Leigh. That comment had been my first glimpse at what Leigh’s life was like amongst my people. I had been so shocked by what Tiffany had said that I hadn’t been able to respond to it in time. Danielle had told her to shut her mouth and left the group to meet Leigh to keep her away from us. I had barely had time to make eye contact with Danielle’s beautiful sister before Danielle had steered the woman away, looking back at us with a snarl.
Tiffany had turned her appalled look my way as if I shared her outrage, but I turned from the girl in disgust. I hadn’t known then who Leigh was. I had seen glimpses of her a time or two at different social events, but she hadn’t stayed long enough for me to inquire about her. That night, I had turned to Dave and asked all about her, as if I hadn’t a clue who she was, so that he wouldn’t sense my interest in her.
“That’s Danielle’s sister. You know, the one who doesn’t know she’s adopted and that the real reason everyone shuns her is because she’s human and not a shapeshifter,” he had said in a low whisper even though we were already out of earshot of most of the supernatural beings in the room.
“Why haven’t I seen her around all that much?” I asked.
“Danielle says that even though they haven’t told her our secret or hers, she knows she isn’t one of us, so she usually only pops in at family functions for a second to say hello to her family then heads back to wherever she lives,” Dave said.
“Just because she isn’t one of us doesn’t mean she can’t spend her sister’s birthday with her,” I said, scowling.
“No, but who wants to be somewhere they aren’t wanted?”
“Why would she not be wanted? Just because she isn’t pack doesn’t mean she isn’t loved and wanted by her family.”
“Look, I don’t know how they feel. I assume they love her or they wouldn’t have kept her, but you have to admit she’s different, and having her around is a bit inconvenient, and, well, look at her.”
“What do you mean, ‘look at her’? I am looking at her. She’s beautiful. Outwardly, she doesn’t look any different than the rest of us.”
“Yes, she does. Look at her.”
“What? Just because she isn’t stick-figure Barbie, like those girls,” I pointed to Tiffany and a group of other girls gathered around a table talking, “doesn’t make her different.”
“Man, I don’t know what has gotten into you, but let it go. She’s of no consequence to us, and in a few years, she’ll be little more than a faded memory to everyone in this room.”
Not believing that my best friend could be such an ass, I turned from him and went in search of Dan-ielle and her sister. I hadn’t known it at the time, but Dave had been playing a part, pretending to go along with the status quo, to keep the peace. I had every intention of introducing myself to the girl and doing my best to prove to her that we weren’t all so hard to like. My search proved fruitless though. By the time I caught up with Danielle, her sister had left, but not before giving her the birthday present she had brought.
“Happy birthday, birthday girl,” I said, giving the love of my best friend’s life a one-armed hug. “Whatcha got there?”
“A present from Leigh.” My heart broke at the sight of the tears that were flowing down her cheeks.
“Your sister’s here. Where is she? I haven’t officially met her yet,” I said, all but cutting off the rest of her sentence, wanting to jump right to the Danielle introducing me to her sister part of this conversa-tion.
“She left,” she said, looking down at the gift in her hand so that I couldn’t see the tears in her eyes. “She couldn’t stay long. She just wanted to give me her gift.”
“Doesn’t she have to fly into town? Could she not find an earlier flight so that she could spend more time with you?” Danielle didn’t react to my judgmental tone. She simply looked at the lilac-colored pa-per, sighed, and tucked the gift away to presumably open later before going to find Dave.
