Sherry Gammon's Unlovable Series
Sherry Gammon is an amazing author! I fell in love with her book,
Unlovable
, and obviously others did as it is now being made into a movie. If you haven't read Unlovable or Unbelievable now is the time. The third book in the series, Unbearable, is coming out soon. I'm so excited!
Chapter 1
Booker
“Pink, Lilah?” I snatched the silky dress from her hands, my mouth pinched tight as my shoulders drooped in feigned disappointment. “You know green’s my favorite color.”
“Sorry, Crookshanks,” Lilah smiled sweetly. She was now in on the cat jokes that Magpie, Seth’s wife, loved so well. Why they couldn’t use my given nickname of Booker amused me more than it should. “The thrift store was all out of green chiffon. You’re stuck with pink.” She waved and shut the bathroom door.
I fisted the bright, nineteen-eighties looking prom dress in my hand and groaned. “Okay, buddy. Man up and put on the dress.” I glanced into the oval mirror above the sink, and pointed at my reflection. “You made the deal. Now it’s time to pay.”
Lilah exploded on Port Fare in June to avenge her brothers’ deaths. Her three drug dealing brothers. Her sicko father tricked her into thinking my best friend Seth and I were responsible. Of course, technically, we were. Seth and I were undercover agents for the MET, the Mobile Enforcement Team, a division of the DEA, at the time, and they were part of our caseload.
I never doubted that Lilah was in on her father’s plan to kill all of us, but she insisted she was merely an innocent pawn in the scheme. After I did my best to make her life miserable, she struck a deal with me that if she were telling the truth, I’d have to apologize to our group of friends, and hand wax her car . . . in a dress. Well, not only was I wrong, she went and married my good friend Cole not too long after. Now I stood in their bathroom, cowering over the gaudy dress in my hand, about to keep my word. I always kept my word.
I stripped off my t-shirt and jeans, setting them on the counter as I wrangled my way into the dress’s many layers. The thing hung on me like a tent. I tugged the tag from the collar forward and glanced at the size.
“3X. Really?” I yelled through the door. I heard both Lilah and Magpie laughing.
I turned back to the mirror, running my fingers through my dark brown hair, smoothing it back into place. I was right, the color washed out my face. And the fact I even knew that was disturbing on so many levels. Fingering the skinny shoulder straps, I remembered Maggie and Seth in their bulk sweaters and Cole and Lilah wrapped in thick wool jackets. “I’m gonna freeze.” Only mid-October and the temperature had already dipped into the thirties. Welcome to upstate New York. I had no one to blame but myself for the rotten timing. If I hadn’t been so busy setting up my office, I’d have waxed the car sooner, but today was the first Saturday I had any free time since quitting the MET.
Well, at least the skinny shoulder straps showcased my biceps. I’d like to say that it was my love of the gym that did that…but sadly it was more my lackluster love life. What else was I supposed to do with my spare time?
“Enough with the pity party, Gatto. You chose to live a monk-like existence.”

The past few weeks my family has been thrilled to have Mom trying out many of these recipes. I loved it because the recipes were easy and I felt so prepared to have dinner started earlier in the day. My boys were happy to have something different than spaghetti! The recipes were yummy and honestly very easy. I also loved the descriptions as Christina has such a cute voice and made me smile each time I read through a description. I would highly recommend this cookbook for easy, delicious, and healthy meals.

7-Day Christian by Brad Wilcox

Christianity is facing great opposition. No one is being thrown to lions, but many followers of Christ face persecution because of their beliefs. At the very least, most know how it feels to end up on the wrong side of a "politically correct" conversation. More than ever before, we need believing and behaving disciples—men and women who are ready to stand up and stand together to change the world as early Christians did: one righteous choice at a time.
Filled with personal experiences and insightful stories, this book emphasizes the importance of living in accordance with our values every single day, with practical suggestions for how to actually pull it off. "Christ doesn't just want people to acknowledge His grace," writes Brad Wilcox. "He wants them to be transformed through it. He doesn't just want people to come to Him. He wants them to become like Him— a process that takes place 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, and throughout all the years of our lives.
My Review
I've heard Brad speak before and listened to his CD's with my older boys. I was thrilled when this book was similar to the way he speaks: Intriguing and uplifting stories that drive home the very important doctrine he is teaching. I love the inspiration and messages I've learned through this book but more importantly I've used it to teach my children at family night and as part of our nightly scripture study. Just like it says in the description, "one righteous choice at a time." This book motivates and inspires to make small and simple righteous choices that will help us to become what the Lord wants us to become. I would highly recommend this book to all.

The Sacrament by John Bytheway

It's understandable that some children appear bored or distracted during sacrament meeting. Many young Latter-day Saints are probably unsure about the true meaning of the sacrament and why we attend. With this in mind, bestselling author John Bytheway has composed a delightful poem (inspired by a short poem by Walter H. Horne) to help Latter-day Saints young and old appreciate the ordinance of the sacrament. In particular, children will learn what they should be thinking about (and not be thinking about) during this sacred time as well as what the sacrament can do for all of us.
Beautifully illustrated by Nathan Pinnock, this thought-provoking story about a young boy and his grandpa is a gentle reminder about the importance of remembering the Lord Jesus Christ, especially during this special meeting meant for Him.
My Review
This book came at a perfect time for our family. We have been working hard to be more reverent during the Sacrament, but really focusing our thoughts on the Savior sometimes doesn't happen as my husband and 15yo help administer and pass the sacrament and the 11yo tries to help me keep the little men quiet. This book really made a difference for all of us through the sweet story with the author's grandpa and the beautiful pictures. I think it would make a fabulous gift for anyone and especially for those with young children.
About the Authors
John Bytheway is an instructor at the Brigham Young University Salt Lake Center. He served his mission in the Philippines and earned a master’s degree in Religious Education at BYU. He has published dozens of books and audio programs and lives in Salt Lake City with his wife, Kimberly, and their six children.
Nathan Pinnock studied at Utah State University, the University of Utah, and Atelier LeSueur in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at Brigham Young University. Between years of school, Nate served a mission in Frankfurt, Germany. He illustrated books and magazines for fifteen years and now spreads his time between his illustration, sculpture, fine art, and teaching. He is a creator. His paintings and books can be found in galleries, businesses, and homes across America. Nate lives in Holladay with his wife, Alison, and kids.

Righting a Wrong by Rachael Anderson

Tour Schedule

Righting a Wrong by Rachael Anderson
Seven years ago, Cambri Blaine fled her small hometown of Bridger, Colorado after her senior year ended in a fiasco. Only Jace Sutton knew the real reason why—that she was a spineless coward. Now, seven years later, her father's been in an accident and needs help, and Cambr has no choice but to return home. So with trepidation, she takes a leave of absence from the landscape architecture firm where she works and boards a plane, hoping against hope that Jace is no longer around and that the past can stay where it belongs—in the past.
If only life worked that way.
Jace never expected to see Cambri again. After she’d led him on, bruised his heart, and left town without a backward glance, he was forced to pick up the pieces and try not to hate her for it. Eventually, he put it behind him and moved on, creating a life for himself in his beloved hometown. But now that Cambri is back and looking more beautiful and sophisticated than ever, some of those old feelings resurface, and Jake instinctively knows, for the sake of his heart, that he needs to avoid her at all costs.
If only it were that easy.

My Review
I'm a big fan of Rachael's, so it was no surprise that I loved this book. It was fun and romantic, but really touching with the relationship between Cambri and her dad. I loved all the characters in this book, especially Cambri and Jace. This entire series is just delightful. I enjoy each book and then get excited about the next book as I already know the new protagonist :) Read them. You won't be disappointed.

A USA Today bestselling author, Rachael Anderson is the mother of four and is pretty good at breaking up fights, or at least sending guilty parties to their rooms. She can't sing, doesn't dance, and despises tragedies. But she recently figured out how yeast works and can now make homemade bread, which she is really good at eating.

Excerpt
She rested her hand on his arm, but when he tensed, she pulled it away. “University Park and Charlotte are beautiful cities with so much to offer, but Bridger isn’t without its charms. Coming back here is like entering a different world.”
“An archaic world.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about,” said Cambri. “People here know and care about each other. When you walk down the street, you pass friends instead of strangers. The air is cleaner, the pace slower, and the world calmer. I’m pretty sure the sky is even bluer.”
Jace slung his bag over her shoulder and leveled her a hard look. “Actions speak louder than words, Cambri. Or are you forgetting you left for bluer skies six years ago?”
Her gaze held steady. “Sometimes it takes seeing other skies to know which is bluer.”
One eye brow quirked as he considered her words. “What are you saying? That you’ve had your fill of city life and want to move back?”
Cambri looked away. Was she saying that? No, of course not. That would be crazy. She was happy in Charlotte. “All I’m saying is that I appreciate Bridger a lot more than I used to.”
He let out a low chuckle that didn’t sound even close to humorous. “Like I said, actions speak louder than words.” He started to walk past her, then paused, looking beyond her to the back door. “You talk of passing friends instead of strangers, but in my experience, friends are really just strangers disguised as familiar faces.” His arm brushed against her shoulder as he left, and an uncomfortable, almost palpable, sensation spread down her arm and landed with a thud in her gut.
