Too Late
I thought I knew
Thought I understood
But now she was gone I had a new view
Of the woman that helped me step into womanhood
The house that had once been filled with love
Was now silent and empty
For she watched from above
I stood in a room filled with memories plenty
Yet it was a box that was strange
That caught my attention
One that had been stored and carefully arranged
To uncover it’s secrets my only intention
It wasn’t anything special
Just a beige box speckled with time
But held within this vessel
There was a story of a woman in her prime
There beneath the tissue
Sat lace yellowed with age
Amongst cards that said I love you
My emotions I could not gauge
With delicate fingers
I picked up the lace
When out fell some pictures
And I saw her beautiful face
Not marred by time
But filled with joy
With a man, arms entwined
Looking happy but coy
It was then I realised
With the lace in my hand
That the woman I had idealised
I didn’t understand
But now it was too late
I’d never get to know
The life that came before me and how we would relate
As my life became more complex, as I continued to grow
I sat there in tears
With questions unanswered
Questions I should have asked her over the years
Instead of just taking the love she had offered
And now it was too late…

Happy Fourth Of July!
Hi all,
Quick break from the #LaceChallenge to wish all my American friends a very Happy Fourth of July!
#LaceChallenge by Der Erzahler
Draped In Lace.
I felt as if my eyes beheld an angel
The way you stood in the open field
With the sun cascading on your skin
You were a sensual sight to behold
The way your body was wrapped
White lace softly falling about you
You looked to be pure, innocent
Like the angel I thought you to be
How I wanted to taste you that day
To pluck you from those wheat fields
Feel your soft lace draped over me
Tasting your innocence on my tongue
Determined to have you as my own
I sent my servant to bring you to me
Taking you from your family home
All to feel you drape me in white lace
Oh, my angel, if I had only known
That you kept your wings hidden
Covered beneath your white lace
Permanently inked into your flesh
When I saw you, naked, in the flesh
I took you on all fours, making you mine
I watched your innocence disappear
Black lace, now replacing the white
As days went by, you were like a devil
Wrapping me in your soft body
Using your lace, you caressed me
Making a hard man, turn soft
You took everything I had to offer
Stripping me of all my dignity
Just to have me openly begging
For you to drape me in your soft lace
Now, I lay here, a withered shell
As you stroke me with your lace
I am taken, spent and exhausted
My final release given over to you
My angel, I see your true form now
A demon, you sucked away my life
As I offered everything to you willingly
All to feel you drape me in your lace
I feel as if my eyes behold an angel
As you drape yourself in black lace
An angel of death you are, my demon
Taking me to hell, draped in your soft lace

#LaceChallenge by Shawn D Standfast
The Ways of Desire
Corset laced tight, tempting to eye and touch
White lace, satin and high heels are your disguise
On the road of never ending one night stands
Miles on the clock, meetings in old hotel rooms
Needing someone to hold onto you tight
Always hoping the next night will be the last
But it never really works out quite like that
Encounters fade with every touch of sadness
Walking away dreaming of the moon and stars
Alone on this dark road listening to your heart
Wondering if you’re the only one longing for more
When did time and happiness fade to shadows?
Stripped of the past, exposed for what you desire
Tears dried long ago, searching for lost chances
Passions burn as memory of rope still lingers
That one perfect moment shattered in time
Desires weep for deep loneliness hitherto unknown
Fears well up, never knowing where happiness went
Possibilities glimpsed, blurred images out of the past
Once learned the ways of desire can take their toll
Standing at your crossroads with nowhere to go
Remembering lips kissed, hands you’ve missed
The sweet taste of desires meet, passions spent
A guiding light, searching darkness forevermore

A Tear Drop
Drinking holy water to wash away the pain
A deep thirst that only alcohol can drown
An immaculate conception with every sip
Pierced by thorns on this cross I must bear
Like a vision you dance across the room
Music plays softly, voices break the spell
The night breaks through my darkness
Drowning in the memory of your caress
Another day, another night without you
Your smiling face haunts me in the crowd
Eyes searching for the love we once knew
Another drink, another one night stand
Leaving before dawn, through back streets
Hiding in the shadows, dialing your number
Lines jammed with tears and broken hearts
Blinding sun rises, and with it the darkness
Curtain’s closed tight, the music plays on
Like an Aria calling me through the dark
In my dreams you vision haunts me still
Dressed so fine in your satin and lace
It’s a moment that will never come again
The price I pay for taking you for granted
Ink flows freely, words written and posted
Merely a tear drop in the ocean of our pain

Lace
it sits in a drawer
never having been worn,
it is a fulfillment of someone’s dreams.
dreams which were destroyed
long before they could soar,
long before everything she ever desired
could be.
…
she never felt worthy or beautiful enough,
never safe or able to let go
and
now her life has passed her by
and
the lace she adored
she has thrown…
…
away.

#LaceChallenge By Benjamin Prewitt
Dreaming Of You.
Butterfly kisses and soft simple wishes
Wings of an angel and glimpses of fishes.
Sushi rolls and a dragon kite
Brave old soldier in the night
Grasping, gleaming
of things he was dreaming
All through the night his fingers did fight,
To find the right key
To make the words right.
Buttons and bowlers hats
Stockings and lace
Never to once
see the look on her face.

#LaceChallenge by Marcus
Wings of lace
from the breath of an angel
wings created
through meadow graceful
seen beating, floating
a human’s touch would destroy its life, painful
sheer enough for light to pass
veins finely laced
a living stained glass
from stem to stem
waltzing through tall grass
wings designed to fly and hover
dips and dives, loop de loop
sounds they make, stutter-flutter
a playful kamikaze
flirting in the months of summer
in a silent embrace
dragonflies mating
origami masters using paper lace
would fail to replicate
its beauty and darting grace
come visit often
little blue dragonfly
we’ve a short time until autumn
for you i, but not i for you
will be forgotten
with colours so sublime
a garden fantasy
will look for you when its time
humming, the sound of spring
when your wings of lace buzz in rhyme

#LaceChallenge by Chris Kuhn
She wove fingers through each delightful peek-a-boo
Stroked every delicate thread with care and curiosity
Tonight, he would come and be privy to this view
Together, two would take love to a new ferocity.
Running her fingers along the top of her stocking
She imagined nails grazing the ridges of his chest
Wondering what questions the new day would bring
She blocked out consequence for that would be best.
She glanced at the clock and felt her body hum
By night’s end, she knew this lace would be torn
In a short time, two souls would merge as one
And all inhibitions would no longer be worn.
Breaking the lattice of past intimacy and touch
To dip inside the tender rim, longing to sip
A supple and stimulated love, awaiting much
And dripping with anticipation for hungry lips.
Stripped away, immersed and emboldened,
Fingers, tongues, hearts would braid like vines
Would we ravage and devour like gluttons
Or taste each other delicately like fine wine?
She brushed her hair and moistened her skin
Imagery wildly adrift in her distracted mind
When would this scandalous night begin
And with the sunrise, who would she find?

#LaceChallenge by Erik S Lehman
The Mystery Under
A web is weaved over a mystery
Pastel colors … oh, what they do to me
“Be careful,” the mind says, “just in case.”
For dangerous curves
Hold risk in grace
But
As man
I would throw caution to the wind
Lifting the veil
To spy in
And offer my life
For just one taste
Of what lives under the lace….
