Spotlight on SJ Warner – Writer of POETICA and FROM THE HEART

sjw2014:

Huge thank you to Cameron for hosting my first ever spotlight. It was so much fun (if not a little scary lol)

Today I’m blessed to be joined by the fantastic SJ Warner, poetess and writer whose work is a joy to savour.  She has an active blog and two books of collected poetry, Poetica and From The Heart as well as a novel on the way.  Without further ado, let’s learn a little more about SJ…

Hi SJ, thanks for stopping by my blog today.  When did you realise you enjoyed writing creatively and how did you pursue it?

photo 2

I’ve always had an active interest in reading and writing when I was younger I wrote lots of short stories although my interest in poetry has been a more recent thing, I guess poetry that they taught in school came across as boring so I was not really that interested until about two years ago when I had my eyes opened to just how fabulous poetry can be. The older I got the…

Eternally Hers

20140518-123231.jpg

Heart

Broken

Shattered

Into millions of minuscule shards

She watched the rose fade

Before her eyes

The drying petals

An outward expression of her heart

Their love was like the rose

Soft, beautiful and pure at first

Then withered, dry and breakable

Crumbling easily

His words of love

Sat before her

Beneath the fading rose

Surrounded by drops of pure red blood

Blood that spilt so easily

That had filled the room

With fine delicate patterns

Beauty from pain

She smiled as she looked at him

Pain etched across his eternal face

As she wiped the silver blade

Across his chest

She laughed as she walked away

Happy that he would never love the little bitch

The blonde whore that had tried to steal him

Happy that she would be his partner for eternity

His words had cause grief

But had also caused something to snap

Her love for him complete

Now the madness had taken over…

Toot-Toot Blog Tour Coming Through

20140516-151036.jpg

Thank you to the wonderful Wet Bliss for inviting me to join her blog tour, I appreciate it so much. (And the title made me giggle some what).

So how does it work? Well it’s simple, I have to answer four questions, which will appear below, about myself. I will post the answers on my blog and then invite 2 or 3 others that I admire to join in the fun and provide links to their blogs in my post.

Sounds easy enough but before I do that I have to say that although this isn’t my first tour as I was involved in quite a few on my old blog, it is my first on this one. now I haven’t had this blog open that long but I’ve been surprised by the amount of my old followers that have reappeared and followed this blog. I’m humbled and completely grateful to you all and to all my new followers. I hope that you all continue to enjoy my new work as much as you enjoyed the work I have already published.

Right now lets get this tour on the road (so to speak)…

The bloggers I adore and would like to invite to join me on my tour.

Now I’m not gonna lie choosing just a few is hard as I am lucky to follow and be followed by some truly fantastic bloggers (and one of my favourites was included in Wet Bliss’ tour. But if you would like to pop over to The Whipping Post I would be grateful). So after all that here’s my choices for my blog tour…

1. Eye Will Not Cry

2. A Blog Less Traveled

3. Astraltravler

4. Erik S. Lehman

5. Mark Davis

6. Opus Angelicus

As I said there are so many other that I love and I apologise to everyone that I haven’t included. If I could I would have you all on here.

Now 4 Questions and my responses…

1. What am I working on at the moment?

Well apart from whatever pops into my head at any given moment I am working on a novel that will either make or break me lol. It’s a historical romance that began as a short story that appeared on my old blog but soon turned into so much more, I’m currently about 3/4 through it and I’m hoping to get it finished and published by the end of the year so that I can crack on with another book that I have planned out.

2. How does my work differ from others of it’s genre?

I’m not sure it does really, although I’ve never really thought about it. I guess my novel is more erotic than other historical romances although I have read some truly hot HR’s. As for the work I post on here I just write whatever pops into my head (Usually inspired by photos) so I guess I just let my mind take it where it wants to go.

3. Why do I write what I do?

Well my work on here is an outlet for the sinful, crazy thoughts that run wild in my head. Yes sometimes they are dark but I can only write what I am feeling at any given moment. As for my novel as I said it was never meant to be anything other than a short erotic story but the characters really got into my heart and my head and begged for the rest of their story to be told, Lily and Evan are both lovely people and I could not say no to them and shut their voices up… great now I’m sounding like a crazy lady lol.

4. How does my writing process work?

Honestly it’s messy, I did try sitting down and planning every little thing out but once the voices started talking to me it became apparent that this wasn’t going to work for me. You see I write chapters (or verses) out of order at one point I had the beginning and end wrote but no middle now I find that when the voices come through I write what they are telling me and then slot them into position as and when they need to appear. I would love to be super organised but I guess my life outside of writing makes that hard, running round after my munchkins and animals makes things interesting.

And there it was the end.

Now I’ve made myself sound completely batty I will leave you all to enjoy the tour and the blogs I have added above.

Much love,

S.J xxx

Safe.

Safe 2

Waiting

In His favourite position

Legs parted

In perfect submission

Back arched

Pushing up breasts

The position had always

Been a test

Silence expected

Moans meant rejection

Silence at touch

Meant His affection

Hand running over

Sensitive flesh

Soft and gentle

No pressure as yet

Fingers exploring

Teasing and testing

Eyes scrutinising

Her body requesting

Pain shatters through

As nipples are twisted

Followed by pleasure

As fingers persisted

To explore and probe

Sinking deep into folds

Stroking, caressing

Her body He moulds

Fingers removed

Brought to her lips

Covered in honey

That was beginning to drip

Sucking and tasting

Her own special flavour

Tongue licking fingers

As she did savour

Hand moves to throat

The ultimate in trust

Tightening slightly

As He begins to thrust

Vision blurs

As climax arises

Their essence flowing

The greatest of prizes

Praise afterwards

As she rests in His arms

Safe in His love

With no fear of harm.

Moans

Groans

Whimpers

Whispers

Gasps

Cries

Oh

Just

The

Sound

Of

Trickling

Water

Breathless

Bodies

Slowly

Who Am I?

Who am I?

Well let me see…

I’m a wife…

20140511-172813.jpg

A mother

20140511-172942.jpg

A writer

A poet

20140511-173132.jpg

Ha I’m still not sure about that!

But who am I?

Now I’m not sure…

Am I the confident, sexy woman that you all know?

Well no…not really.

Am I the shy, quiet woman that I used to be?

Well no…not anymore.

Am I the too tall girl that tries to hide in the shadows?

Yeah I guess I always will be.

Am I full of doubts?

Yeah of course I am I always will be.

I’m not real pretty have lines in places that there were once none.

I’m not skinny anymore but that’ll be kids and cake and alcohol.

Hey I’m a woman I love cake.

And these things have nothing to do with who I am…

It’s just me rambling.

I guess one day I may figure it out…

Will find out who I really am…

But until that day I will wonder down the path that I’m walking.

Making mistakes.

Hell even messing up big time sometimes.

But one thing is for sure I will continue to grow.

Continue to learn.

Maybe one day I’ll even learn to love myself.

But then I know that wouldn’t be me…

Now would it?

Dressed To Kill

20140510-224326.jpg

Six inch heels

Made to tease

Black silk

Topped with lace

Perfect for a tongue to trace

Panties with frills

Designed to thrill

Wearing nothing else

Yet dressed to kill

Heart racing

At the thought of him

And the night that would

Be filled with sin

So many delights

Were waiting within…

Ghost Of You

They had met at a dance

She had taken a chance

On the man in the corner

So handsome but shy

She had asked him to dance

He had refused but asked her to sit down by his side

Explaining he couldn’t

She smiled and said “Nor me”

They had chatted all night

Had walked by the sea

Watching the sun

As it’s rays broke through

Weeks they had together

Until came the day

When he told her

He was going away

20140508-195058.jpg

She worked hard every day

Caring for those

Injured and damaged

By foreign hands

They wrote to each other

As often as possible

But then without warning

His letters they stopped

Entering the room

She saw him lying there

Bandaged and pale

Against white counterpane

She rushed to his side

Not leaving all day

Crying silent tears

He heart filled with dismay

She watched him grow weaker

With each passing day

Until the light she had found

Extinguished completely

How her life had changed after that day

How the years had flown by

Now she stood in the room

Where she had said goodbye

No longer the young girl

She had been

Her face and her body

Ravaged by time

Yet when she closed her eyes

She felt so young

The damp dusty air

Replaced by the scents of work

Of blood and antiseptic

Of life and of death

She walked to the corner

Where he had slipped into eternal sleep

It was then that she began to weep

She could feel his hand

Upon her skin

Heard him whisper

Are you here to stay

She smiled softly as her heart gave way

Not time or age

Had dampened their love

Their hands entwined

As they began to dance

Two hearts fused together

Reunited at last and forever

I started writing this after I my friend Pete Inman posted the picture that is at the bottom of this piece on Facebook, I asked him for his permission to use it and he graciously agreed. As today is VE Day I thought that today would be the best time to post this piece. The top picture is sourced from the internet and the bottom one is © Pete Inman.

“Only know you love her, when you let her go”…

Originally posted on Eye Will Not Cry:

Todays words, picture and song choice come from my wonderful guest writer Sal…

~

“Let her go”

He had known for a while
Known there was something wrong
Known she was changing
Before his very eyes
He had watched her
As she began to wilt
Her light began to fade

Gone was the happy spirit
He had fallen in love with
Now she was just a shadow
Of her former self
A ghost
That walked amongst
The living

He had taken her away
To his house in the county
Hoping she would
Once again find herself
But she continued
To disappear
Before his eyes

Now he stood watching her
As the thunder rolled
Watched her as she began
To dance to nature’s wild concerto
Seeing the light
In her eyes
Begin to reignite

He knew then
Knew he couldn’t tame her spirit
Couldn’t continue to cage her
Knew he had…

Spring

20140507-081130.jpg

Another day dawns

Beautiful hues of pink and orange fill the

Cloudless sky

Dawns early chorus

Echoes around whilst rabbits

Frolic in the dew soaked

Grass

Heat beginning to rise

Intensity of the sun warms the earth quickly

Joyous feelings fill her heart

Kicking the darkness of winter away

Lifting her spirits

Magical moments as blooms awake from their slumber

Needing the sun as much as she did

Opening

Petals showing the

Quality of their colourful splendour a

Rainbow of vividness

Songbirds fill

The air

Undulating on

Vapours invisible to the eye

Whistling and calling

Xcitedly to their

Young as they collect food on spring

Zephyrs that tease the soft cotton of her skirt.
