Cover Reveal: Boy Without Instructions
I have been working obsessively on the cover for Boy Without Instructions: Surviving the Learning Curve of Parenting a Child with ADHD for many weeks now. The cover is second-most important only to the actual content of the book. It can mean the difference between silently failing or commanding the appropriate attention to succeed. That is a lot of pressure!
I actually settled on a different cover than this originally. I told the designer to finalize it on a Friday. By Monday, I had mocked up...

The point of impact.
As I make progress with my first bookand draw ever-closer to my publish date for Boy Without Instructions, I’m beginning to realize the magnitude of that future day. The moment my book becomes available for purchase will be the moment atwhich my personal purpose and dreams intersect. It’s now within my field of view on the horizon and that’s exhilarating.
So far, mine has been a life of searching for purpose. The kind of meaningful purpose that makes an impact on others, people outside one’s s...

It’s official! Penny Williams on Goodreads
I’m working feverishly on background marketing tasks while Boy Without Instructions is with my editor. One of those tasks was to get my author pages going on major websites, like Amazon.com and Goodreads.com.
Today, I finished up my author page on Amazon and it’s now official — I’m a real author!
Having my first official author page is very gratifying for me. Being a published author has been a dream of mine since I was thirteen.
Please visit my Amazon page and like and share it. Help me get t...

We need concise information on ADHD
One of the many hats I wear these days is as a forum moderator for ADDitude Magazine‘s online community, ADDconnect.com. The more I read personal stories of confusion, struggle and despair. I feel like so many of these hopeless feelings could be avoided with one concise, simple, intuitive, and conclusive book on parenting a child with ADHD. I have felt this way for quite some time, which is why I began writing book #2, What to Expect When You’re NOT Expecting ADHD — my time moderating ADDconn...

ADHD fades outdoors
I thought I’d share little day-to-day snippets of life with Ricochet as you await the book to learn all about our life with him and with ADHD.
I took a break from my rewrite of Boy Without Instructions yesterday to go apple picking with my family. As with most kids with ADHD, Ricochet does best when he’s outside and engaging in physical activity — climbing apple trees was no exception. He had a blast and his behavior couldn’t have been better.
The weather was beautiful and we had an enjoyable f...

50,000 Words
I thought it would be fun to plug my manuscript in Wordle and get a word cloud for Boy Without Instructions.
Writing like a mad woman
I have been writing at least 2-4 hours almost every day, despite having other jobs and kids. I am very driven to get these books out so I can hopefully save parents of kids with ADHD a little of the long struggle to figure out how to really help their kids.
Here’s where I am with the books in process today:
Book #1, Boy Without Instructions: Surviving the Learning Curve of Parenting a Child with ADHD, is with my Editor but I’ll have it back in two weeks.
Book #2, What to Expect When You Are NOT...

Boy Without Instructions
Boy without Instructions: Surviving the Learning Curve of Parenting a Child with ADHD,Grace-Everett Press, Summer, 2014.
Bookstores are filled with titles on ADHD from professionals and experts, but books from a Momma’s perspective are few and far between. Yet, hearing other parents’ experiences raising a child with similar challenges is often therapeutic, reassuring, and even liberating. Williams found some of the most helpful information she gathered when her son was diagnosed with ADHD at t...
