ADHD is a b*@#$!
Pin ItADHD is a b*@#$! (I vowed to keep it real, right?) If my son’s inability to stay focused were due to an obvious brain injury or intellectual delay, his inattentiveness would never be questioned as a lack of motivation or not trying hard enough. If my son had physical and developmental delays that were […]

5 ways to create structure for kids with ADHD
Kids with ADHD lack intrinsic organization and planning tools. Since they don’t have these tools internally, it’s important to provide external structure. Systems and routines provide kids with ADHD the security of well-defined expectations. Implementing structure and routines in a chaotic family household is easier said than done.
This summer, I decided to get back to more structure in our home. I know it’s beneficial, I’ve seen that in the past, yet the consistent time it takes causes...

Individualsdiagnosed with ADHD have tremendous potential, but live in a society that has not adapted to take advantage of their talents. Traits these individuals exhibit include creativity, laser-sharp hyper-focus, determination, and persuasiveness. They have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a zest for life.
Unfortunately in our current society, the demands of college and the rigidity of the workforce do not always leverage the strengths of divergent thinkers. Studies show that only 5...

An ADHD parent’s quest for the holy grail
School can be the most painful thorn in the bum of parents raising a child with ADHD. It’s a constant battle to get the school to accept and truly understand your child’s strengths and weaknesses, offer the accommodations they need to achieve success in a learning environment, and then consistently implement your child’s tailored plan. I’ve been fighting for five years and I’m still spinning my wheels. That’s 1,825 days. Actually, it’s almost six years, so it’s closer to 2,100 days, but...
