Roe v Wade's Class and Racial Divides
On the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Sarah Kliff of the Washington Post looks at how the demographics of those receiving abortions have changed.When first legalized, it was mainly white and well-off women seeking abortions. Since the mid-1980s, though, this group has been on a downward trend, while the number of minorities and poor women seeking abortions have been steadily increasing.

Gender Equality Gone Too Far?
Denmark's Board of Equal Treatment has ruled that charging more for a women's haircut than for a men's haircut is illegal. Opponents of the new measure is unfair, given that women's haircuts naturally take longer to do and require much more effort. As much as I believe gender equality is an important 21st Century issue, there is clearly a reason why women's haircuts cost more.

Filibuster Reform is (Practically) Dead
The Hill's Alexander Bolton reports that the Senate will live on as a continuing body, Harry Reid will decline to exercise the constitutional option, and the talking filibuster is no longer on the table. In short, we're getting a very watered down version of what could have been a major step in pushing the Senate down the road to a parliamentary body.
