Please join us on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Books-A-Million in Huntsville for a signing to launch my third novel, THE LAST TRIAL. Copies of the new book as well as my first two novels, THE PROFESSOR and BETWEEN BLACK AND WHITE, will be available for purchase. THE LAST TRIAL is the third installment of my McMurtrie & Drake legal thriller series, which are all published by Thomas & Mercer. I plan to say a few words at 6:00 pm to kick off the event and will be signing books from that point forward. I hope to see you there!

A Teaser for Thursday…

Here is a teaser excerpt from THE LAST TRIAL, which comes out on May 8. One of my favorite moments to write in this series is Tom McMurtrie’s introduction. I also love planting Easter eggs in books, which are real places or events that could be significant for readers who have experienced them. Mayfair Park in Huntsville has been a special place for my family. My boys have played at Mayfair from t-ball all the way through to the Majors (12 and under), and my little girl is now in t-ball. My father, who passed away last year, loved to watch the boys’ games and his customary spot was standing behind the centerfield fence. I wrote this scene for him.

Remember that scene at the end of Back to the Future when George McFly opens his box of new books? Whenever I get my early copies from the publisher, it always reminds me of that. This time, my wife Dixie was able to capture the moment. THE LAST TRIAL will be out in stores on May 8th…

We’re #1!

So excited to wake up this morning to see BETWEEN BLACK AND WHITE #1 on the Amazon Bestseller list for Private Investigator Mysteries.  Also fighting for  # 1 in the legal thriller category and several other categories and in the top 250 in all books.   And check out the book coming in at #6 in the picture….Woo hoo!  It  is nice to see momentum building for these characters as we move toward May 8 and THE LAST TRIAL.  Stay tuned…

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!

THE LAST TRIAL is coming on May 8th, and I recently found myself on the same bridge as Tom McMurtrie.  Can anyone guess the name and place of the bridge?  We are three months away from publication, so look to hear from me more as we get closer to the return of the Professor.  I can’t wait for you to read this story!

FIRST DRAFT OF BOOK 3 IS DONE!

[image error]Happy and relieved to share that the first draft of book three in the McMurtrie & Drake series, THE LAST TRIAL (the title has changed), is finished!  The book is slated for publication on May 8, 2018.  One of the sweetest and most satisfying parts of the process is typing “The End” at the close of the initial draft.

Now it is on to the editing phase…
