Out and About With a Dragon and Linda Rettstatt

/ OmniLit / DriveThru Fiction. What is one of the more fun things to do as a writer is to visit with our characters. One such encounter can be seen at One Woman's Write where Linda Rettstatt graciously allowed me and one of the old ones, Llewlyn, dragon soul twin to Lord Branin of Cloud Eyrie to stop by. And Lord Branin stopped by in the midst of his search for the mystery woman he only knows as 'Anastasia."
Stop by www.onewomanswrite.blogspot.com to read the interview and see what insights a dragon has into the world of humans. Helen
PS Lord Branin Llewlyn tale is told in the fantasy, Dragon Destiny , from Burst Books.
Linda Rettstatt is a multi-published author whose works includ Love Sam and Wake Up Call.

At the Prose Polisher
Had a most pleasant surprise. Yesterday (July 9th) at the prosepolisher, Judy Gill featured me and my fantasy novels. And yes, the name is apt as Judy is quite skilled at polishing up both newbie and experienced author’s prose. And no, while I have silver hair, alas, the georgeous woman shown is not me. Stop by and say hi and leave a comment if so inclined. Helen
PS - I’ve got a secret to share. It’ll BURST out soon.

Dealing with Disappointment
Writers by the very nature of their lives have to reach out. To publishers, readers, reviewers, put themselves in line for disappointment. The book that wasn’t accepted, the royalty check that was smaller than hoped, the talk where nobody came. The post by Joan Y. Edwards at http://joanyedwards.wordpress.com/2012/06/25/twelve-ways-to-get-over-disappointment/
is an appropriate note for those who make their living by words.

In the Author Spotlight - Carol McPhee
Sometimes fate decrees that given paths cross. My meeting with Carol McPhee, who is in the author spotlight over at One Woman's Write, was such an occasion. Although we haven't been in the same space and time (as in meeting in person), after several years close correspondence in several critique groups, I feel that if we passed each other on the street the connection would make recognition instantaneous.
You might wonder why I am giving notice to what some could consider competition. One reason is the sisterhood (brotherhood for the opposite sex) and camaraderie that can develop between people who share a common passion. And in this case it is writing.
Also, Carol is not really competition. She works more in the romance and romantic suspense genre while my own writing, calls elsewhere. Her latest two works are Shadowed Pursuit and Spirited Liaison. I'm still trying to figure out which of the two is my favorite. My novels are fantasies which is why I call myself a tour guide to the stars, the Old West, and to worlds of imagination.
Stop by the interview to see the woman behind the tagline, Strong, smart, sensuous heroines; heroes to die for.
Carol's works can be found at Champagne Books.
Enjoy Helen
