Hey again, regarding your future adult comics, do you think you'll ever make a sequel to your Perverts of the Unknown comic too? I want to see more of this series happen!
I had a follow up planned but the publisher asked me to make Pillow fight instead.
My current plan is to work up to a big collection of all my adult comics in the next few years, If and when I do, It would be a blast to do some a Perverts story in there.
How do you feel about Robert Crumb on a personal level, in a sense of separating the artist from the art? His controversies are vaguely similar to Kanye's to me, in that I can often appreciate how brilliant their work is, but their work is so autobiographi
Hmmmmm
I don’t personally have any issues with Crumb or West. Granted, it’s easy for me to sometimes gloss over ideas that don’t effect me directly. If I was black and/or a woman I might be less casual about it. So take that for what it is–
I do think it’s strange to ask artists to plumb their souls to show how they look at the world but then expect them to not have any messy ideas. I don’t think messy ideas are the same as doing terrible things.
The conversation gets sooo crazy on the internet that I wonder if my own feelings on something are nudged by it– I felt like I was more critical of both Crumb & West in the past but seeing people flip the fuck out (and I’m not saying you are) has caused me to want some nuance.

Stinktober day 28 Keep on Truckin’
I was reading up on the popularity of Crumb’s one pager and how it affected his work after it.
“I became acutely self-conscious about what I was doing. Was I now a “spokesman” for the hippies or what? I had no idea how to handle my new position in society! … Take Keep on Truckin… for example. Keep on Truckin’… is the curse of my life. This stupid little cartoon caught on hugely. There was a D.J. on the radio in the seventies who would yell out every ten minutes: “And don’t forget to KEEP ON TR-R-RUCKIN’!” Boy, was that obnoxious! Big feet equals collective optimism. You’re a walkin’ boy! You’re movin’ on down the line! It’s proletarian. It’s populist. I was thrown off track! I didn’t want to turn into a greeting card artist for the counter-culture! I didn’t want to do ‘shtick'—the thing Lenny Bruce warned against. That’s when I started to let out all of my perverse sex fantasies. It was the only way out of being “America’s Best Loved Hippy Cartoonist.”

The Phantom Smoking.
I’m a big fan of the Phantom being a legacy hero, whose outfit is passed down through generations.
