Have you been reading Olympia Comics Festival’s Guest of Honor Brandon Graham’s superb anthology magazine Island (whew)?? If you haven’t, check it out, we highly recommend it! Our last year’s Guest of Honor Farel Darlympel is also continuing his critically acclaimed running series Pop Gun War on the magazine.

Tell your friends and enemies to come to the Olympia Comics Festival on June 4th! It’s only a few weeks away.

I’m super hyped! Are you?

why did you decide to do island as a monthly instead of a graphic novel format like Flight? how much thought went into that, was it a no brainer or were there pros and cons?

Mostly, it’s just that I don’t really want to read a bunch of 8 page stories I wanted to make a space where people could run 100+ page stories but not have to worry about doing them as 20 page a month monthlies. The Flight, Meathaus, Pop gun thing seems like a different thing entirely,

I like comic shelves but have a lot of issues with how the work is presented and made for them. Island is just me and Emma trying to make something closer to a creative ideal.

UPDATE - Life, Grimorio, & VanCAF

tessawracked:

Hello! I’ve been super busy with life stuff for the past few months, but there are a few announcements I’d like to make.

First off, I’m doing much better thanks to time, distance, and therapy. I’ve pulled back on social media, with the exception of this Tumblr and my Instagram. Trusting folks is still tough, so expect me to be fairly aloof.

Secondly, I am incredibly thankful to Ariel Vittori for allowing me to be part of Grimorio, a Witchcraft anthology that (with your help) will be Kickstarted later this year. I’m so in awe of the other artists working on this book, check it out!

Thirdly, I’ll be exhibiting at VanCAF this weekend! You can find me at table N4 in Hall 2. I’ll be selling my work for the first time as prints and postcards, plus a zine of cute dudes including work by my pal Brandon Graham of King City and Multiple Warheads.

Lastly, I want to be clear that my art serves as personal explorations of my gender, sexuality, and transition. I used to block rebloggers that made me feel uncomfortable, but I don’t have the energy to care about who sees what I choose to put online these days. Seeing my art on someone’s blog doesn’t mean I agree with anything they do!

Thats all for now. I hope you’re doing well!
