On 2 July 1969, while visiting Brussels, US astronaut Frank Borman received signed copies of “Destination Moon” and “Explorers on the Moon” from Hergé. Frank Borman was a member of the crew who flew the Apollo 8 mission in preparation for the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Apollo 8 was the first time that a spaceship carrying human beings left Earth’s orbit, travelled to the Moon, circled it, and then flew back to Earth.

Unused 1992(!) aquatic mecha design from the miniseries Dirty Pair: Sim Hell, rather straightforwardly riffing off a Shirow design from the first Intron Depot—yet, shockingly, failing to rip off the aforementioned Shirow mech’s crossover status as a combination exoskeleton and push-up bra! I should note further, though, that the mecha’s light-and-dark value scheme was almost certainly an homage to artist Ikuto Yamashita (Evangelion), whose manga Dark Whisper was also a major influence on my design work. Anyhoo, I assume that Sim Hell’s space limitations forced me to ditch this hardware from the actual story.
Side note: Unearthed this sketch whilst picking out original art for this weekend’s Emerald City Comic-Con (where I’m set up at table HH-10). Feel free to swing on by and say hi!

What brand of bristol board do you use? (I was intrigued by a previous question about inks and erasing)
