Hi Laura-Lee
I’ll start with the question about where to start with my books. My intention was to write stand-alone novels and my debut novel, Beautiful, was just that. I had no idea how well it would sell, and I quickly acquired a fan base both here in the UK and also the US. A sequel was requested and so I wrote Angel. I then moved on to 34 Days and the same thing happened! So I wrote Strategy. I then wrote Winterscroft, Captor, Game Players and Malignant, all standalones. My publisher then commissioned me to write a cosy mystery trilogy (which turned into a quartet) that became the Kat and Mouse series. Mainly I write psychological thrillers, but all of my books have been very successful. I would advise reading the Kat and Mouse ones in order, but the others can be read in any order. Just be aware of the two sequels.
Now to the advice! The only way to do it is to settle on one plot and put all the others to one side. Don’t feel you have to stick rigidly to any plans - I never plan, just start with a sentence and see where it wants to go. My editor has led me into a slight routine of around 80,000 words per novel, but that is definitely not set in stone, and research has shown that chapter lengths of around 2000 words are most preferable. My biggest piece of advice is just do it. Don’t overthink it. If you sit down right now and write for two hours, you could very easily have your first chapter. Good luck with it, and if I can be of any further help, just ask. My email is anitamayw@yahoo.co.uk for a direct route rather than good reads which I never use. I was 69 when I had Beautiful accepted. I’m 73 now with 12 books out there all published by Bloodhound Books, and two coming out in May. Anybody can do it, but you actually have to make that commitment.

“Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.”
Anita Waller, Liars

“movement left in him. Janette was sobbing as she extricated herself from the motionless body on top of her, and she ran for the stairs, naked, trembling and crying. The pain between her legs was almost unbearable and she began to run a bath after locking the bathroom door behind”
Anita Waller, The Family at No. 12

“someone else?’ Shock passed across her face. ‘Good Lord, no. If anything, I would say we’re closer now than ever. Were closer,’ she corrected herself, and reached for another tissue. ‘He had no skeletons in cupboards that”

Gita Audhya This is Gita Audhya. I am now campaigning now for my book All Those Tears We Can't See, 3rd edition to all social media. My book is selling in all major airports (Hudson Bookseller) but being an indie writer it is very hard, but I am proud of it. It has romance in Western style and Eastern style, immigrant story, American dream, and 1st generation forbidden love, culture, and India. Love to read, then maybe you will like it.
