5 New Innovations Tradies Should Be Using To Improve Business
Regardless of being a plumber or an electrician you need innovation to survive in a business. When tech trends are rapidly changing, as a tradie, you need to jump on the bandwagon and take advantage of some of these trends that can help you stay ahead of the rest. Technology today may be vast and while it may be difficult to choose, there are some applications and innovative ideas that can impact your tradie business in a large way. Take a look at 5 such innovative trends that tradies should definitely consider using now.
Drone technology
In its initial years of conception drone technology was considered a rich man’s play toy. Today the potential of utilizing drones in construction is endless. Currently Drones are being used extensively in mapping and surveying in geological applications such as monitoring of eco- systems and wildlife. But consider a similar use for electricians and construction contractors. Drone technology can help a number of tradies in site mapping and survey as well as provide views and survey data that help influence a business in positive ways.
The biggest advantage of using a drone in your work is the cost factor where rather than expensive models you can even pick up a cheap quadcopter from any e-commerce site.
Social media
Social media is now a much sought after tool for even tradies to market their business. The importance of Social media for tradies is that it helps you know what’s going on in your world. You have to learn about the latest developments that can be applied in business. Social media not only keeps you abreast with current trends, it provides you a valuable platform for customer interaction. While social media in itself is tailor made for the small tradie because of the ability to accurately identify your target audience, large businesses have long been exploiting social media threads and small business pages to explosive effect.
As a tradie, you need to learn how to use social media to maximum effect because this is where you will find out your real clients with the potential for monetization. Social media marketing is flexible without you requiring further resources to identify a target audience. Your social platform does that for you and of course you control your costs. Another brilliant benefit of social media is the fact that you gain access to several platforms each unique in their offering of marketing your wares.
Innovative marketing
Technology may not always mean investing in expensive tools. But neither can you slow down your pace of a rapidly advancing market. Markets may have brought you ample opportunities for business but they are tight too. The key to being innovative is to research your market and find ways and means to target it. Small tradies today need to spend considerable time on their business rather than in it. This is when you have to explore different innovative means to improve your operations which could even be a task such as walking down the street and observing your competition.
Learning new marketing theories could well reveal a lot of truth in how to improve your business. As a construction contractor or plumber, the more you explore various technology and the latest developments, the better equipped you are in advising clients and influencing them towards monetary conversion. If you want to know how to stay ahead in business you have to start doing things differently.
4.3 D printing
In its earliest years of conception there were limitations to the strength of composites but 3D printing is now heavily in demand. Today the application of 3D printing for tradies is incredibly powerful. Consider the fact that you gain an opportunity to print specialized tools on site itself or effective components and parts like integrated inductor-capacitors, inductors and resistors. 3D printing for small businesses and tradies can be especially beneficial simply because it helps a startup with small productions. It also benefits a tradie’s business with the ability to provide client’s customized products.
Using software in various platforms of business
As you find your workloads increasing, it then makes good business sense for tradies like plumbers to use helpful software for efficient management. It is an opportune time to utilize software in your tradie business simply because of the cheap tools that help you stay tuned into your business. Through the medium of fully integrated software, you can utilize cloud based management which can be accessed on all devices such as Smartphones, tablets, netbooks and laptops. Mobile technology has now made it even easier for you to keep monitoring your business at all times.
Software helps you increase your productivity, improve efficiency and of course acquire payments faster.

How to Generate Press for Your Business
Nothing helps build recognition with your target audience like good publicity in trusted media outlets. It’s a very powerful tool that can easily attract investors, as well. Press generation is usually a lot more credible than running advertisements, and just like word-of-mouth recommendation, businesses can achieve it for an insanely low amount of cash.
“Small firms often neglect public relations,” insists John Boitnott, a famous journalist and press release curator who offers classes on Zeqr, an online learning platform. “But it isn’t something which is only relevant to big businesses. Even the smallest firm can use publicity to catch the eye of potential customers.”
With press generation, you have to know where to start, and it’s quite simple, actually. Our shortlist highlights the following steps:
Select your desired targets
Start by identifying potential customers and all the media outlets your audience is most likely to use. Sidenote: stay realistic at all times and at all costs, because it’s always easier to get talked about in local newspapers and magazines than nation-wide news portals. An abundance of professional businesses generate PR opportunities in a very natural way, and even you can take advantage of your upcoming events (like your product’s 10th anniversary, or a new business partnership, or anything like that) to engage both the journalists and your target audience. It’s as simple as maximizing the publicity value by coming up with an interesting story.
You’ve surely seen events like competitions with local radio stations and free product giveaways to every 1,000th customer. They are incredibly valuable for getting your brand name noticed. It’s only a matter of time before those CEOs start giving speeches at business events or entering sponsorships with local sports teams.
Your judgement is crucial here. Use it to pick the right media to approach, and don’t be afraid of it, even if you don’t have a single sentence about your business. It’s easy to reach out to people who can run a technical profile of your products, as well as local media who always show interest in something like fundraising, if it were organised by your business.
Write a press release
Nothing on this planet can provide information of good quality like a press release. Journalists enjoy covering people’s stories when they’re given an appealing paper of what you and your business are about. It’s by far the best way to inform your audience of a story.
The most important thing here is to think thoroughly about the message you want to send as a business owner. Always have a copy that is both lively and relevant to everyone showing interest in you, while matching the tone of the news portals you want to appear on. Keep it all on a single page of an A4 paper and use the ‘Press Release’ heading. Preparing your press release in advance is mandatory, because when you get an invitation to speak with a journalist, you always want to have all the information about what your mission and vision are with you.
Raise your personal profile
You have a higher chance of getting coverage from almost all media outlets if you’re able to build good relationships with contacts relevant or close to those journalists. Local business events are something you should definitely consider attending, because that’s the best place to meet and have a chat with business journalists. Doing so will make sure your business stays in the news and available to the crowd for a much longer period of time.

Areas Of Growth For Bitcoin
With the exception of a few recent dips that corrected quickly, Bitcoin has had an exceptionally strong year in 2017. The price has surged to all-time highs on several different occasions, and some are starting to suggest that it’s only just the beginning. Perhaps most outlandishly, one analyst who predicted strong growth this year said Bitcoin could hit $100,000 in 10 years. Furthermore, said analyst made this claim back in May, when Bitcoin was only about halfway to its more recent highs!
This is not meant to suggest that such forecasts are definitely correct. Many investment analysts also believe that even as this article is being written Bitcoin is in a “bubble” with the potential to burst. This could be true for a couple of different reasons. One is that China has tightened regulations on cryptocurrency usage, which is a significant blow. The other is that there’s a possibility some of the biggest investors will pull out of Bitcoin now that it’s reached heights some never saw coming, and that would weaken the overall price point and potentially cause a domino effect of investors jumping ship.
Even so, there’s no denying the current surge in Bitcoin price, and by extension popularity! If Bitcoin’s price is soaring at its current levels, it stands to reason that it’s become more valuable not just to investors but to people who wish to use it in their everyday lives. Investment and utility will likely feed into one another with a commodity like this. So that begs the question of what the main areas of growth have been for Bitcoin usage. This is actually trickier information to uncover than you might expect, but these are at least a few industries and types of businesses that stand out:
Mobile Payment – For one thing, we’re seeing more Bitcoin wallets and peer-to-peer money transfer options that make it easier for people to use Bitcoin in everyday transactions with friends. Perhaps even more importantly, however, PayPal merchants can accept Bitcoin, which ties the cryptocurrency to perhaps the most established method of digital payment in the world. It’s conceivable that people saw this development as making it both more mainstream and more acceptable to pay for goods and services via Bitcoin.
Online Gaming – Real money online gaming is a massive business, and sticking with the idea of PayPal for a moment, it’s one in which security is paramount. Gaming sites explain that using PayPal for deposits and withdrawals creates an extra layer of security, in that actual bank account details are never revealed. This has been true for some time, and now people are looking to Bitcoin as an even more secure option. Some of the top sites are now accepting cryptocurrency, and given that Bitcoin exists in part to facilitate secure and anonymous transactions, it’s becoming a popular alternative.
Online Retail – This is undoubtedly the biggest area of adoption, though retailers have actually been getting on board gradually for a few years now. It seems that every few months a new major online shopping destination begins to accept Bitcoin payments, with some of the biggest names being Expedia, Target, Overstock, and eGifter (which, by selling gift cards, opens the door to all kinds of other online stores).
These and other, smaller areas of growth are responsible at least in part for Bitcoin’s ongoing surge, and for the constant headlines you might be seeing about its increasing relevancy. Whether or not the trends continue, only time will tell.

4 Steps to Get Started as a Solopreneur
Solopreneurs now represent one-third of the American workforce, according to MBO Partners’ latest State of Independence in America report. The number of Americans who work as freelancers, full-time consultants or gig workers has now reached 41 million, passing a threshold previously not expected to be reached until 2019. Desire for independence, layoffs and wage stagnation in the traditional economy are all factors fueling the rise of independent workers.
After millions of trailblazers have already become solopreneurs, the path to becoming an independent business owner is clearly marked for those who want to follow in their footsteps. Here are four steps to take if you want to get started on a career as a solopreneur.
Write a Business Plan
The foundation of business success is a solid business plan. In order to write a business plan, you’ll first need to do some market research to establish that there’s a viable market for your product or service and to strategize how you plan to compete with market rivals. Market research involves steps such as measuring the size and profit potential of your market, understanding the demographic of your target customer and analyzing your competitors. You can gather market research from existing resources such as Google’s Marketers Almanac, Pew Research Center, Nielsen or American Fact Finder’s database of U.S. Census data. You can also conduct original market research using tools such as interviews, surveys and focus groups.
Market research forms the basis of a business plan. Your business plan maps out how you plan to start and run your company during its first few years of operation. It outlines your analysis of your market, your company’s organizational structure, your product and service lines, your marketing and sales strategy, and your financing strategy. The Small Business Association’s website provides a step-by-step guide to writing a business plan.
Find Financing
One important purpose of writing a business plan is to estimate your projected revenue and expenses for your first few years of operation. This enables you to determine how much funding you’ll need to run your business.
Most small business owners finance their start-up phase by using their own savings or credit or by borrowing money from family and friends. Other financing sources include business credit cards, business loans, investors and crowdfunding. SCORE provides links to financing resources, and can also put you in touch with an experienced business mentor who can help you develop your financing plan and find financing sources.
File Your Business Paperwork
In order to get your business started, you’ll need to perform some tasks that involve filling out some necessary paperwork. You will need to decide what type of business structure you want to use, choose a business name, register your business with federal and state agencies and apply for any necessary licenses and permits. You’ll also need to set up your accounting system.
As part of this process, you’ll need to register your business with the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS website’s Small Business and Self-Employed Tax Center provides an online guide to walk you through this and other steps in setting up your business.
Set up Your Tech Infrastructure
After choosing your business name, you’ll want to buy a domain and set up hosting for your company’s website. This task is part of setting up your company’s tech infrastructure. Other important elements of your tech infrastructure include your company’s computer equipment, social media profiles, server and the apps you’ll use to run your operations, such as accounting apps, productivity apps, and sales and marketing apps.
One of the most important pieces of computer equipment for running your business is your mobile phone. High-end smartphones such as the iPhone 7 Plus can serve as a mobile base for running your business by providing you with a large screen for viewing messages and apps, 3D touch to make it easier to interact with your apps, 4K video to record marketing videos and hold video conferences, and security features such as Touch ID to protect your company’s sensitive data.
As a startup, you’ll probably find it most cost-efficient to rely on a cloud infrastructure service for storage and website hosting. PCMag provides an online guide to today’s best infrastructure-as-a-service solutions, which include Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Rackspace and IBM Bluemix (formerly SoftLayer).

10 Growth Hacks That SaaS Startups Need To Succeed
Jessica Jackley, the co-founder of Profounder defined entrepreneurship as “the pursuit of opportunities regardless of resources currently controlled”.
Talking about growth hacks, I’m sure you saw a great opportunity in your chosen software as a service vertical. And I’m also sure that you are quite passionate about pursuing it. But my question is—must you depend on your limited resources in order to reach that big milestone in your mind right now?
My answer is no.
You can share your opinion on that after reading through these collected pieces of growth insights. Down the line, I’ll be sharing some real examples too.
Success in a SaaS business means different things to different people. It could be about simple experience of 100,000% ROI via an acquisition, taking your company public for IPO or leaving some digital asset behind for your family. Whatever the case, if you are not growing enough, that milestone cannot be reached anytime soon. And that’s the essence of putting together these proven SaaS growth hacks.
What Is Growth Hacking?
In theory, this has become more of a buzzword than competitive strategy. Coined by Sean Ellis in 2010, growth hacking is the process of rapid experimentation, learning and execution of strategies for growing a business.
For most people, marketing is the only known route for growth. You can say this is the norm. However, growth hacking cuts across product development, engineering, product management, customer success, and support. Beyond customer acquisition, it could as well be the growth of human capital, customer lifetime value, and ROI. Now that you know what it is, let’s move onto the real SaaS growth hacks.
#1 Multi platform Content Distribution
You can refer to this as repurposing content. The basic premise is that a certain piece of content can be transformed and distributed in different platforms. According to Derek Halpern of Social Triggers, ‘it’s not all about content creation day in day out. Focus on getting what you’ve created into the hands of new audiences’.
Think of how you can use the same piece of content as
Blog post
Ebook
Infographic
Video
Slideshare
Check these 100 content distribution sites you can leverage for organic growth.
#2 App Widget Links
You know the ‘Powered By’ kind of link you see on certain web apps? That’s it. In this scenario, almost every single user exposes your SaaS product to other potential users. And the interesting thing is you don’t have to pay for the traffic generated from such links.
Here is an example of what I mean. Find a way to add this within your product especially for freemium users so that people using it to serve their customers will be contributing automatically to the growth of your traffic, sign ups, and paying users.
#3 Use Case Diversification
API integration has become a proven growth hack for SaaS businesses in recent years. Beyond product development, it serves many other purposes. Among many other benefits, you’ll achieve community exposure, growing brand awareness, and organic user acquisition.
The challenge is to increase diverse use cases through API integration with other high value products used by your target audience. You can begin to explore Zapier and GitHub for this purpose; also check Programmable Web’s directory of 15,000+ APIs.
#4 Iterative Onboarding
While you are making all efforts to bring in new users to product sign up pages, the prospect’s onboarding experience matters a lot. The fact is that if the number of potential customers falling off the funnel is more than normal, then you have a problem in your hands. Interestingly, you have no chance of seeing this unless you are constantly on the lookout for bottlenecks.
This is one of the product related hacks that makes a lot of difference in product qualified lead (PQL) conversion rate. Use periodic A/B testing to discover bottlenecks and improve your onboarding process.
#5 Influencer Marketing
Just as the name suggests, it’s simple way of leveraging influential experts and brands in your niche as a growth hacking strategy. Especially at the early stages, this alone could take your startup farther than what is possible with your personal strengths and resources. With this option, you are only limited by your imagination.
Providers of premium tools in this space like BuzzStream and NinjaOutreach have lots of resources to help you get started. Check these influencer marketing case studies for more insights.
#6 Social Proof
I guess you already know what this one means. Now think about the last time you became prospects for a particular product or service. Did you feel kind of curious around what the social proof is? Well, even psychological studies prove that a whole lot of purchase decisions are influenced by social proof. Don’t ignore this in your growth hacking strategies.
The interesting thing is that social proof affects conversion rate almost at every stage in the buyer journey or marketing funnel.
#7 Authoritative Content Marketing
If you want to leverage content marketing as a growth hack, then you have to go beyond content creation. Never forget the content in content marketing. The most interesting thing about content marketing is its potential for long term ROI in comparison to paid traffic generation.
If you are looking for content marketing strategies, here’s a post I’d recommend for you.
#8 Viral Referral Marketing Campaigns
One Nielsen study found that 92% of US consumers trust referrals from people they know. This includes buyers and users of SaaS products too. You may not be in the US, but this is a common psychology. Trust is a big factor in successful marketing and long growth of any company. So smart growth hackers leverage proactive strategies to influence other people who now refer their friends and family to products they love.
Software tools like UpViral and Viral Loops are good for such campaigns.
#9 PR Courtship
The basic thing here is simply befriending people in influential media outlets to get exposure. Yes, this is a growth hack too. But you don’t have to depend on it. You could try learning how to get media coverage for your startup.
“Successful coverage isn’t a one-time feature kind of thing. It’s about finding a way to facilitate continued coverage of your company”.
– Renee Waren, Onboardly
If you do this very well, even getting backlinks to your SaaS business website will contribute to increased search engine ranking and direct traffic from these media sites. And the best thing is that these two outcomes can continue to benefit your company for a long time to come.
#10 Paid Traffic Generation
This one will contribute to a balanced healthy startup. So you don’t have to wait for the outcome of your long term strategies to generate the revenue you need to keep going.
But the trick is overspending your resources on the things that don’t scale will prolong the discovery of fatal flaws in your strategy
With paid traffic and A/B tests, you can discover the things that work and don’t work in a very short time. This is what the lean startup methodology is all about – rapid experimentation, learning, and execution. For high volume targeted traffic generation, consider Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
With that, you are good to go explore these hacks and build a successful startup. Don’t forget to come back and let us know how that went.

Lifestyle
People in different regions of the world have different ways of living. Not earning a living but how they actually complete everyday activities. But somehow people that earn a living doing certain things become prone to certain lifestyles.
It is easier for an employee at a tech firm, even though not working in the technical department to embrace new tech. This is opposed to someone works on a farm. The average tech worker will find it easier to accept that you can safely gamble and win real money gaming online. Something that many farm workers would need a bit of convincing to accept.
Differences in Mindsets
The reason why people employed in sectors like agriculture are less likely to jump to new technology is not that they are “backwards”. Neither is it because they are less clever. But the reason seems to be more based on the activities that someone spends the day doing.
As much as jobs that require the worker to exert themselves physically are generally looked down upon they improve self-confidence. Which ultimately results in the people having a very low reliance on other people. A “do it yourself” mentality is somehow cultured in these individuals.
The opposite is true for people that work in the most technologically advanced fields such as the best online casinos. This is because their environment is filled with gadgets and tools that are meant to make life easier. There is help for everything that you want to do in the biggest cities. And as technology keeps on advancing the ways to make human existence easier are only increasing.
The Same End
Already there are driver less cars. This means that people will be able to enjoy driving experiences without the hustle of actually driving. The technology used to develop these cars was developed in production based industries. Farmers are already using automated tractors to improve yields and reduce losses. This kind optimisation helps make farms more profitable.
Therefore we all have to find a balance between quickly adopting technologies. But also keeping in mind that we need to retain the will to do handle our own business. We are fast getting to a point where we will be able to delegate everything.

6 Tips For Impressing Clients At Your Next Corporate Event
Professional Party Prowess
Clients expect to be catered for around the clock.
Calls, meetings and everything between and sometimes the relationship goes outside those working hours and needs. And that’s where the fun happens. If you’re used to impressing clients with powerpoints and gantt charts, but haven’t yet mastered corporate event planning, then listen up!
Don’t confuse your market
Party events conjure up all kinds of thoughts and ideas, and a large portion of those may not be work-appropriate. The fact is, when it’s a corporate event, it’s hard to know what’s allowed and what isn’t.
Not all offices are the same, and if they are your clients then you obviously know what they are about and what you can get away with. Keeping it appropriate and fun doesn’t have to be hard, finding a photo booth hire in Sydney is a great addition to any event.
Maintain balance of work and play
It’s easy to get swept up in party mode, but remember that, at its core, this is a corporate function. Work out those barriers with your team early, because no one wants to be cutting off your client’s CEO at 6:30pm or hearing about your interns asking your pregnant contact for a lighter. Keep it short at sweet, entertaining for no longer than 8:30pm and have your team briefed on what’s on and what’s not.
Catering
Food is a key talking point post event and, unfortunately, it can make or break your event. Creating a menu that is both delicious and appropriate for clients can be a challenge, but when you nail it – you’ll know! You want something that won’t remind them of the boardroom, so avoid sandwiches, muffins and anything in a Styrofoam cup. Shabby chic is always a nice approach, it will give you the host an edge, and it’s as simple as giving street food a gourmet twist.
Theming
Think high-end gala meets work Christmas party. You want to be on trend, so don’t be afraid to have fun with your theming! Spell your brand with event letters or deck out the bar or space in your company colours – you want the space to be an environment where people want to post to social media but that they also know this is a corporate event.
Take away tokens
Who doesn’t love merch? Fortunately for everyone, branded merchandise has come along way since the old fridge magnet or calendar. Use something with an edge that you know they will use, like bottle openers or USB sticks. Take away tokens are always a good way to keep your brand at the forefront of their mind, and remind them of that cracker event!
What next?
So, after the event – then what? Well, if it goes off without the hitch, maybe you can make it an annual soiree. If that’s not possible, keep that work and play vibe going by inviting them for a drink every now and then on a Friday, or drop off coffees on a Monday morning. You foster the relationship you have, so decide what kind of stake these clients have, and how you can continue to impress.
Remember that the idea of these corporate events is to strengthen relationships and to have fun! While it’s probably a good idea to actually overthink the event, make sure that when it’s in full swing you are in the moment and hosting an event that your clients will love.
