Sisters in Business: FG ATELIER

inside atelier

FG ATELIER is a result of the special bond between two sisters that grew into a business. For Monika, the creative director, fashion has always been a part of her life since she was little and she’s knowledgeable in every aspect of making clothes – from designing to manufacturing. Emilija, on the other hand, has always been business-driven, so after her master studies in France, it was quite a natural step for her to join sister’s fashion business.

WHAT IS THE AIM OF FG ATELIER?

Monika: FG ATELIER was created to make life easier for professional, modern women who want to look sharp and feminine at work with minimal time and effort.

Aim

Emilija: Working women have no shortage of decisions to make every day and choosing what to wear today to the office can be quite a daunting task, especially when a workplace has dress codes that can be tricky to navigate through. That is why the main aim of FG ATELIER is to help build an efficient working wardrobe.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE INTERESTED IN STARTING A FASHION BRAND?

Monika:  I would say that it is equally important to believe in yourself and to have a great team around you too. Having a business partner next to you that you can trust and rely on, is great for any business.

Emilija:  Knowing your audience, its needs and pain points provide more meaningful relationships with our clients. That’s the key to success.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL 9-TO-5 WORKDAY LIKE FOR YOU?

Emilija: From morning to late evening I got a lot of stuff to do: from generating new marketing ideas to talking with suppliers. Every day is actually very different, that’s why this job is really challenging.

Monika: As a creative director, my day consist of sketching, looking for inspiration, thinking and re-thinking models, but it is not just that – I work very closely with our production team, explaining how the model should look, what needs to be done. But probably the favourite part of the day is working with clients. Communicating and helping them to solve their every day’s wardrobe issues

HOW DOES YOUR CAREER AFFECT YOUR FASHION CHOICES?

Monika: I have always been a fan of a classic wardrobe. I prefer function, not the trends. The most important thing, when choosing a new piece of clothing is great a fabric and long lasting design. And this philosophy is also our business philosophy, so maybe my fashion isn’t affected by my career –  it’s quite the opposite.

Monika and Emilija

Emilija:  I’ve always valued great fabrics and quality but every day working in the field, searching and communicating closely with suppliers I started really appreciate the great fabric. Of course, the most important things for me is long lasting design and a perfect fit. I think all hard working women want that, that’s why we are suggesting made-to-measure service not only to our local clients but for customers all around the world too.

Developing Your Brand’s Voice

Whether you realize it or not, your company already has a voice. Your newsletter, your blog, your emails and indeed your ecommerce site itself have already informed the public about the way you view yourself. It’s wholly evident in the tone of your communications and the writing style you employ. If shoppers are responding positively, you’re in great shape. However, if your company is languishing—even though you feel you’ve done everything right—perhaps it’s time to purposefully set about developing your brand’s voice.

Brand Voice

What Is Your Voice?

In the simplest terms, voice is the style and tone in which communications are delivered. At its core, your voice is a physical manifestation of your values. This holds true for both external and internal communications.

How to Find It

To be an asset, your voice must resonate with your ideal customer. Thus, it’s important to listen before you speak to become attuned to the way your core audience expresses itself. What are their cultural touchstones? Where are their social sensibilities? What’s important to them? How do they talk? Do they tend to be formal and precise, or casual and conversational? Monitor their social media feeds to get a sense of their vernacular.

Sincerity and Consistency are Critical

Ideally, you’ll be talking to people in your own social set, but if you aren’t, “faking it until you make it” is a recipe for disaster. Your words will ring false and you’ll do extensive damage to your brand. This is just as true if you happen to selling ebooks online or water skis. If you’re trying to attract an audience with which you have no familiarity, hire staff members, as well as marketing and public relations firms who do.

Once you’ve developed your voice, it should be employed in all of your communications, so regardless of where people encounter it, your personality is always the same.

Create a “Bible”

To ensure your tone is always the same—regardless of who originates communiqués—create a style guide and issue it to everyone tasked with engaging in public communications on your behalf. Introduce the guide during onboarding meetings with staff members in marketing, public relations and advertising. Verbally describe your brand voice and answer any questions that might arise.

In a perfect world anyone applying for one of those positions will have taken it upon themselves to research you and know this coming in the door. But this is your public image we’re talking about here; don’t take any chances.

Evolution Can Stave Off Revolution

The only thing in life that doesn’t change is the fact that things change. When they do, you must be prepared to transform with them. Depending upon the nature of your core audience, if they grow and mature, their values will evolve. If you want to remain relevant to them, you have to be prepared to evolve right along with them. Coca Cola has been America’s favorite soft drink for well over 100 years because it has a knack for changing with the times—while remaining true to its core values.

These tips for developing your brand’s voice will help you project the personality of your company and its products to the world. People feel most comfortable when they’re relating to someone they perceive to be just like them. When you take the time to find your core audience and structure your communications to resonate with them, you’ll be well on your way to creating a loyal following of repeat customers.

Get Your Business Off the Ground With Trade Shows and Street Fairs

trade show

Getting a business off and running can take lots of time and effort. Potential customers need to know exactly what you have to offer. Customers can be found in lots of different venues. A client may be interested in doing business with your business as an individual. Marketing your services from one business to the next also offers a wonderful way to see growth. While marketing online is a great way to reach out to people, few things beat the experience of face-to-face communication. Speaking with people in person lets you have a meaningful conversation and helps present you as a real person rather than a line of text.

Trade Shows

One way to meet and greet other companies, as well as individuals, is by attending lots of yearly trade shows. Trade shows often draw in hundreds, if not thousands, of people to a single arena. If you are planning to attend a trade show, it’s imperative to have the ideal set up before you begin. Your goal is to capture people’s attention and keep them interested. You need to demonstrate the value of your product or service from the second people see you. To that end, a proper set up is essential. Your booth, tent, and display can make or break the show.

Proper Preparation

Every single moment is crucial when attending a trade show. Before leaving, you need to decide on the right equipment that you will need for success, such as 10×10 pop up canopy tents. A good tent can help showcase your message and draw attention to your company even from far away. Standing out in a crowd lets people and other companies come to the realization that you are someone they want to get to know better. It can also help you create an image in the public eye. You should also think about your product placement inside the tent. You want to make it easy for people attending to see what you’re selling. It’s a good idea to have material that people can take with them as they leave. For example, a handsome brochure with details about your services along with great pictures makes a memorable impression. You want them to remember what you’re selling and have a reference they can carry around easily as they go to other booths. Setting up a budget in advance can help you narrow down your funds for each event you plan to attend. Reaching out to your desired demographic is easier than ever with the right preparation.

Street Fairs and Festivals

Other great places to interact with others in person, and get your message out, are street fairs and festivals. Many communities hold annual street fairs and festivals devoted to a single theme. Some large cities hold dozens of them each year. People love attending these fairs. This is where they can find lots of food, and meet others in their community. It’s also where they meet you. You can be a vital part of any street fair. While attending a street fair is a fabulous way to interact with new clients, you want all to go well before you begin. Unlike indoor events like trade shows, you’ll need to take special care to make sure that you’re working with the elements. Rain and sun can take a harsh toll on your booth or display.

Keeping It Simple

All booths should ideally be able to protect the person and product against the weather. Before leaving, it helps to have a plan in place in the event of conditions such as light rain, harsh heat, or wind. All materials should be shielded against the elements but still visible. This will invite people to have a close look at the things you’re selling and the products you’re offering. You want them to have the time to get a close look at everything you can do. Come dressed for the weather. Talking about the climate is a great opportunity to break the ice and have some small talk. This is a fantastic way to network, meet new people, and let people know what you can do for them.

Consider your options in an outdoor venue. It really could give your business the boost that it needs. Meeting people and letting them know about you and your business can only help a company grow.

Tech Startup Mindset Tips You Can’t Afford To Ignore

Automation Software Technology Process System Business concept

Launching and sustaining growth in the tech startup space is no easy task. The industry of tech is estimated to be worth $3 trillion by the end of 2018, and more growth is in the foreseeable future.

But how do you create and manage a startup primed for unlimited growth and success? By cultivating a tech startup mindset. Many prominent traits of successful entrepreneurs include, the right team, passion, attitude, and even knowing when to turn off the tech brain.

These traits can inspire and motivate you to see things through a different lens, allowing you to bring your vision to life in a very powerful way. “The single most important factor influencing a person’s success — whether personal or professional — is mindset,” Karima Mariama-Arthur explained in Entrepreneur.

If you are ready to begin your journey to success, employ the following tech startup mindset tips you simply can’t afford to ignore.

Spark Tech Startup Juices With Top Talent

Tech startups need a few things to get off the ground — tech equipment and top talent not afraid to be innovative. To spark that innovativeness, you need to surround yourself with the best and brightest tech team members you can find and attract.

“There’s an old quote by Confucius that I try to live by. “If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.” Set ego aside and allow others to help you reach greater heights by surrounding yourself with those that stir your curiosity and ignite your passion.,” Cody Jensen, CEO of Searchbloom explained.

With the right team in place, you can build a mindset that flourishes. This can be done through brainstorm whiteboard sessions, project collaboration, development of cutting-edge tools and platforms, and more. Build a team that in turn adds to your tech startup mindset.

Bring An Impactful Attitude To The Table

Attitude is a valuable asset when it comes to developing a strong, influential tech startup mindset. When you cultivate an impactful attitude, you walk different, talk different, and create different. You in many ways can see things that others simply cannot.

Your attitude is also important for nurturing team, vendor, and client relationships. When these categories of people feel your impactful attitude, they get excited and naturally want to work with you, regardless of any other obstacles that may be in the way.

Begin redefining your tech startup mindset with attitude adjusters that are easy to employ. Practicing mindfulness meditation or saying a few daily affirmations each morning can make a short and long-term mindset difference for any entrepreneur.

Follow Your Passion And Supercharge Your Mindset For Success

Why do people want to be entrepreneurs anyway? Most would say money. After all, the news is always showcasing a millionaire entrepreneur in some fashion. But if you get to know a few entrepreneurs, you will find that money is not the driving catalyst. It is passion and the freedom to pursue that passion.

“The passion for entrepreneurship stems from the fact that you given full freedom to be creative with no boundaries,” Raihan Masroor, Cofounder and COO of Your Doctors Online explained.

If you are new to the startup game, look to your passions to develop your next entrepreneurial endeavor. If you already have a startup, turn to your passion to become even more innovative. This will create a powerful tech startup mindset that overflows with fulfillment.

Know When To Turn Off Your Tech Brain

Turning off your tech brain may seem slightly counterintuitive for startup success and entrepreneurial growth. But it is a very important tech startup mindset tip you absolutely need to implement.

Startup founders and entrepreneurs have a lot going on, especially in those early days with little funding and a small client list. The focus is growth and this can tack on an unimaginable amount of work hours. If you don’t know when to step away for a few hours each week, you can burnout and hinder creativity.

To emphasize this, you can take a page from very successful entrepreneur Richard Branson’s daily routine. He often gets up early and exercises or spends time eating breakfast and hanging out with his family before getting down to business.

Be sure to take some “you” time, otherwise your mindset will not be balanced, leaving your health and tech startup at risk for potentially irreversible damage.

In Conclusion . . .

The tech startup mindset is certainly unique. This can make it very challenging to cultivate a powerful one, but not impossible. You can draw from the above mindset tips and begin developing a new way to look at both your professional and personal life. With a strong mindset, anything is possible, and success can be much easier to grasp.

Work Until You Drop: Working Long-hours Is Killing Us

Long work hours

Source- Pixabay

For most people, working a full-time job is something they do without much thought. While having a job is important, overworking can cause serious mental and physical health problems.

In a recent study, researchers found that over 85 percent of men and 45 percent of women in the United States work more than 40 hours a week. Consistently overworking yourself or your employees is a recipe for disaster.

While most business owners utilize the power of online employee scheduling software – Humanity, there are times when more hours are needed to complete projects. Making sure these instances do not become a frequent occurrence should be one of the main concerns you have as a business owner.

The following are just some of the problems that overworking can cause.

Working Too Much Overtime Can Make You Depressed

Did you realize that consistently working overtime can double your risk of depression? A study conducted by PLoS One found that people who work more than 10 hours a day had an increased chance of becoming depressed.

Working more hours usually reduces the amount of time you get to spend with your loved ones, which can really affect your mental health. Clocking out at a reasonable hour and going home to spend time with your family is important for both your physical and mental well-being.

Sitting All Day Can Cause Major Health Problems

There have been multiple studies that link sitting all day to a host of health problems like obesity, cancer and even heart attacks. Even if you do work on your feet during the week, you need to stay active on your days off. Becoming a couch potato on the weekend will only cause more health-related problems.

If your job does entail you to sit for prolonged amounts of time, you need to find a way to stay active. Getting up and going for a walk on your breaks is a great way to reduce the damage that sitting all day can cause. You may also want to think about getting a stand-up desk to reduce the amount of time you sit each day.

Getting the Right Amount of Sleep is Important

If you are burning the candle at both ends for work, chances are you aren’t getting the right amount of sleep. The National Sleep Foundations maintains that the average adult needs around 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Failing to get the proper amount of sleep can decrease memory, increase the chance of weight gain and may lead to cardiovascular problems. If you have trouble getting to sleep at night, you may want to think about establishing a bedtime routine.

This routine should include things like turning off the lights and removing electronic devices from your bedside. Getting rid of these distractions can help you focus more on going to sleep rather than looking at social media.

Stress

Source- Pixabay

Stress is a Silent Killer

The Mayo Clinic conducted a study to find out more about the primary stressors in the lives of American citizens. This study found that over 30 percent of the people they polled claimed that things like a large workload and daily commutes were their biggest sources of stress.

Having too much stress in your life can compromise your health. Stress prompts your body to produce an increased amount of hormones that will raise blood pressure, blood sugar and even your heart rate. Not only can stress cause physical problems, it can lead to declining mental health as well. This is why reducing the amount of hours you work is so important when trying to get your health back on track.

Doing things like finding a hobby or spending more time with your family can significantly reduce the stress and worry in your life. The longer you wait to get a handle on overworking, the more problems you will ultimately have to deal with.

How Education Can Help You Become a Successful Entrepreneur

Entrepreneur

Deciding what you specifically want to do with your life can be a highly overwhelming task when you initially consider your options. However, the answer comes much more easily when you break it down.

In your future, you will want to be successful, happy, and a high achiever. If this sounds like your own ambitions, then going into business as an entrepreneur could be the best thing you ever do in your life. The question now is how you get there, and the answer is through education. By securing a good qualification, you will be able to use it as a stepping stone into the life you have been dreaming of.

Studying hard

The business world is a highly competitive one, so you will need to make sure you are entering it with the right skill set and knowledge to help you stand out from the very beginning. The best way to do this is by studying for a business degree at a reputable and well-respected institution, such as New Hampshire college. By completing a degree in the subject, you will find that you are equipped with a broad range of skills and specialisms that will help you stand out to employers once you graduate.

If you are deciding to become an entrepreneur later on in life as a career change, then a great option is to do an online course which will allow you to continue with your current job and support yourself and your family while you embark on this exciting new venture.

Educating yourself

In a competitive world, it is the people who are willing to go the extra mile who reap the rewards, so you need to make sure that is you! Alongside your studies, it is worth reading additional material about becoming an entrepreneur, which will not only aid you in the short term of getting a higher grade with your advance knowledge but will also mean you are far better prepared to go out into the real world once you have graduated.

Why should you become an entrepreneur?

However, before you embark on taking on a whole degree course, you need to be sure this is the career path you want to be taking. ‘Entrepreneur’ is a business buzzword that many people will associate with success and money, without necessarily knowing what this job involves. There are lots of reasons why people choose to be entrepreneurs, including, but not limited to, the freedom that pursuing this goal can give them. If you decide to go on this career path, you will find you are not bound to the nine-to-five rat race as everyone else you grew up with is, and you will be accomplishing a great deal with your life. Being an entrepreneur means you believe you have the drive, determination, and unique ideas to go out into the world and change it. If you are prepared to take on this task, then doing a degree is the best first step you can take as it will provide you with a solid foundation to work up from bottom to reach the very top.

Becoming an entrepreneur doesn’t have to be scary if you are willing to equip yourself with the right skills and practical tools that come with a good education.

How Small Businesses Can Benefit from 3D Printing

3D printing

3D printing is a novel technology that immediately invokes thoughts of expensive and high-end projects. In reality, though, 3D printing technology is becoming cheaper and more accessible. One of the biggest sectors that can benefit from 3D printing is the small business and entrepreneur field. Yet, this field is not reaping the benefits of this technology as it should.

The main reason small businesses are not rushing to embrace 3D printing tech hinges on misconceptions. Most believe 3D printing to be a futuristic tech that is very expensive to implement in real life. Some smaller companies may also believe that this tech is highly exaggerated and delivers no benefits to justify its value. Here are several advantages that 3D printing offers small businesses that blow these misconceptions right out of the water:

Make Prototyping Affordable

Many companies rely on prototyping to test products and improve features using samples. Prototyping has become affordable in recent years. One of the technologies that make prototyping accessible for smaller players is 3D technology. It makes it possible to mass produce prototypes with near zero manual labor, thus making the whole process wonderfully affordable to many small businesses.

Enjoy Retail Price Breakthroughs

3D printing was nearly unheard of 5 years ago. When it first emerged, the technology was limited in availability and was quite expensive. Remarkably, however, 3D printing has become highly affordable in recent years thanks to price breakthroughs in the retail market. Now, small businesses can pay a single price to 3D print models with services like Protiq Marketplace that charge competitive fees.

Advanced Customization for Products

Prototyping is not the only use for 3D printing. In recent years, the business community has pushed the boundaries of what this technology can accomplish. Mainly, companies are not increasingly relying on 3D printing to customize products. Businesses are relying on this tech to create replicas, actual products like hearing aids, and even dresses with newer and more innovative forms of customization. Small businesses no longer have to go through multiple middlemen and consultants to get these things done thanks to 3D printing.

Stand In for Actual Industrial Manufacturing

3D printing is rapidly moving beyond just prototyping. These days, companies are actually using the tech as a replacement for proper manufacturing. There is a number of products a 3D printer can manufacture. The process is similar to prototyping, but the company ends up with a functioning product. Given how expensive actual manufacturing can be, substituting a 3D printer may cut costs for smaller businesses and struggling entrepreneurs.

Create Specific Products without the Cost of Mass Production

Mass production of anything is only affordable if the business is selling tens of thousands of products. Small businesses often do not have this level of demand to justify the costs of mass production. 3D printing offers a highly desirable alternative where companies can produce items in low-volumes without exaggerated costs. This process can be highly lucrative because 3D printers can even product complex parts that would cost a fortune to mass produce.

The benefits 3D printing offers small businesses are numerous already. And the industry is just getting to explore the possibilities this technology has to offer. Your small business should be exploring how 3D printing may cut costs and optimize the operations for producing the end product.

Growing Businesses Should Choose Online Databases Instead of Spreadsheets – Here’s Why

Online database

For many years, spreadsheets have held the prime position in organisations when it comes to data management, but, while there is no doubt that spreadsheets will continue to play a significant role in business operations, times are changing and businesses are looking for a more robust and flexible system.

As a growing business, a time will come when the size of your operations, data and inventory will benefit from a more robust and flexible data management tool that allows for easy retrieval and manipulation of data regardless of time and location. Here are a few reasons why you should consider an online database over spreadsheets for your growth needs:

Centralised system – as your business grows, you will need more staff to help you keep track of your growing data. However, passing around a spreadsheet can be tricky, leading to loss of data and inaccuracy. A database, on the other hand, can be shared to a wide number of people over a network. This way, the same data is made available to all who need it in your organisation simultaneously and safely. This creates what is known as “single version of the truth” and prevents version control issues.

Better customer management – customers are the lifeblood of your business, and one of the most important advantages of having a database is that it allows you to capture customer information directly from the customer through a variety of means, such as via your website or business app. This makes it easy to keep track of your growing customers, know their preferences so that you can deliver what they want, and ultimately provide the perfect customer service to them.

A more robust system – even though spreadsheets allow you to type anything you want in them, this can lead to data inaccuracy, leaving you with what is known as ‘dirty data’. But, online databases allow for a more robust system. It can accept unlimited information including numbers, texts and even images. But more than that, databases follow a set of rules and so can find the relationship between the different types of data you put in, allow queries to be made on the stored data and produce the desired result in real time, no matter where you are.

Inventory tracking – keeping track of your growing inventory can be a hassle without the right inventory-tracking database. While it is possible to do this on a spreadsheet, it is easy to make data entry errors, make multiple entries for the same item, or lose your spreadsheet. With an online database, not only is your inventory-entering process seamless, it is also secure and available on demand.

While it is true that online databases take time, effort and money to build and maintain, those at the forefront of technology are providing readily available local online databases that will meet your budget requirements and organisational needs without affecting efficiency.

Scalability – as long as you are in business, almost every aspect of your day-to-day activities is geared towards growth. A robust database can be the most important tool in your business growth strategy. With this, you can do a lot in your business including tracking productivity, reporting trends and monitoring the dynamic needs of your customers.

The Psychological Factors You Need to Consider if You Want to Trade Forex

Stock trading apps

Despite the growing number of computer-based algo traders, market participants are still mostly humans with one thing in common – emotional trading. Emotions are arguably the number one factor that lies in between you and your trading success. As Phillip Konchar Head Tutor at My Trading Skills, an online financial trading course provider suggests, “Whether you’ve chosen the wrong trading style that doesn’t suit your psychological traits or let greed and fear to interfere with your trading decisions, controlling your emotions is something you need to start practising as soon as today.”

Choose a Trading Style That Suits You

Not all trading styles suit all kind of traders. If you enjoy fast-paced trading and don’t mind sitting in front of your trading screen all day long, then scalping might be the perfect trading style for you. It involves opening multiple positions during the day and holding them only for a short period of time. If you feel this might be too stressful for you, then consider day trading. You’ll still open enough trades during a trading week to keep you busy but will also have enough time for other activities once a trade is opened. As a rule of thumb, you’ll be flagged as a day trader if you open at least three trades a day for five consecutive days.

On the other side, if patience better describes your personality, then give swing trading a try. If you don’t pick the right trading style that suits your personality, then your trading performance will ultimately suffer.

Trading is All About Discipline and Patience

Whichever trading style you pick, discipline is an extremely important psychological trait of any successful Forex trader. Having discipline prevents trading out of the gut and avoids the interference of emotions in trading decisions. This is the main reason why trading robots exist – they trade based on algorithms, have discipline and don’t use emotions in their trading.

Start practising discipline early in your trading career. The best way to do so is to have a written trading plan with strict and precise rules. You buy only when all the rules of your trading strategy show to buy, and you sell only when all rules show to sell. Don’t fall into the trap of over trading – patiently wait for all conditions to align before moving your trigger and over time following your trading plan will become a habit.

The Common Mistakes of Beginner Traders – Greed and Fear

Closely related to the deteriorating effect of not having discipline and patience is trading based on greed and fear. This is a common mistake of beginner traders, as they will often feel greed when prices move fast up or down, only to find themselves entering the market in the direction of the underlying move exactly at the point when experienced traders lock in their profits. Here we touch on the importance of discipline again – strictly follow your trading strategy and don’t chase the market for trading opportunities. Trade setups form over and over again and the market doesn’t owe you anything.

Similar to greed, fear is also a common emotion among beginner traders who let their losses run and close their profits too early, in fear to take a hit from a loss or to miss out on the small profits of a profitable position.

A popular saying in the trading community goes: Cut your losses and let your profits run! Once you start to have confidence in your trading discipline and trading strategy, you won’t look to close a trade too early. Simply believe in your analysis – cut your losses short if a trade setup isn’t promising anymore, and let your profitable trades perform without closing them too early.

Don’t Let a Losing Trade Ruin Your Day

Let’s face it, losing trades are an integral part of trading. Even the best traders have losers from time to time, and according to a 1998 study by University of Berkeley among all day traders, nearly 40% day trade for only one month. Within three years, only 13% continue to day trade. After five years, only 7% remain. If losses have a large impact on your mood, then please read through this article again – never let emotions interfere with your trading. Losing trades simply exist, and our goal as Forex traders is to offset the losses of losing trades with the profits of successful trades. Sounds familiar? Cut your losses and let your profits run.

Effective Ways to Enjoy Your Commute

Commute

Many people have to commute to work as a necessity, but most people barely give any thought to how they fill their time when travelling to work. Some even have to travel to a different city on a daily basis, which can be both time consuming and stressful, not to mention expensive.

Given that we spend so much of our time travelling to work, it makes sense that we should try to optimise this time and do whatever we can to enjoy it. Here are some effective ways of doing this.

Transport

There are many, many different ways to travel to work these days, but most people either drive to work or take public transport. Now, for longer distances this may be unavoidable, but for shorter distances there are far more effective options.

Cycling or even walking to work is not only free, but it is better for the environment and it releases endorphins which will improve your mood, reduce stress levels and get you ready for a productive day. Nowadays you can take your bike onto the train too, so even if you are travelling to another city you can get your exercise in.

Make it Interesting

There are many ways to go about revolutionising your commute by making it pleasurable. You could, for instance, ditch the bike and use an electric scooter for adults, something which would undoubtedly give you a rush as you tear down the streets.

If this seems over the top, simply doing something productive could make the world of difference. If on the train, for instance, you could start writing a book or script, or even a business plan. The hours you spend on it will add up, and you might find you’ve created a masterpiece after just a few months, so it is well worth looking into ways you can be productive on your commute.

Commute Together

If you are a lone commuter, you may be used to the bitter loneliness of a long commute, but there are probably millions of other commuters just like you who feel the same way. As such, finding a travel companion in such circumstances may be a great way to combat this, especially if you are a sociable person.

It might be worth asking around your workplace to see if anyone goes the same way/route as you, and travelling with them (if they agree to). If you use public transport, just finding a friendly, familiar face who you can talk to could completely change your enjoyment of the commute.

There are many small changes you can make to your commute which can make a big difference to your happiness. Be sure to analyse it and find your own solution to make your commute as enjoyable as you can.
