Our birds are making an absolute mess of their feeder, tossing seeds everywhere. No problem, Junior will clean up their mess. We have our reigning groundhog/woodchuck queen of the backyard, Suzie, who lives under the shed. (We’re assuming she has a network of audience chambers, sitting rooms, secret laboratories under there). We’re not sure but Junior could be one of her pups–or is it “chuckling”?

The latest version of the trade cover for Autonomous, the sequel to Salvage, which will be out later this year. Not the final but getting there! I’m not even a huge QR code fan but I love the way this one looks and it fits with the design. More info here: https://SaltwaterWitch.com

Nine-cities of the Seaborn map with legend, a two-page spread I drew and painted a couple years ago for a Dungeons & Dragons Seaborn Adventure. Most of the stuff I wrote for the campaign setting, along with all the art, can be used for any game system. I’m going through the art and planning to include some with the Seaborn ebook. I made a beautiful topographical map of the Atlantic basin with marked locations and depths–would have been cool to have included a map in the original 2008 edition!

READ and SHARE the 19th Anniversary Edition of Nanowhere!

Download the eBook (ePub format) or read it online. Please share the link! https://saltwaterwitch.com/nanowhere

Nanowhere is a love story with all the usual elements: rogue soldiers, computer hacking, tyranny, cryptography, hitmen with an affinity for rolled adhesives, rebellious skateboarders, and sentient billion-node self-organizing nanotech ghosts.

“Chris Howard has released an interesting and well-written SF thriller called Nanowhere along with a bunch of supplementary materials that purports to be the lab notes and publications of one of the book’s characters…”

This wonderful dude is hanging out at the back gate–he just hung on while I opened and then closed the gate. I believe this is a Cope’s Gray Treefrog (Hyla chrysoscelis) or Eastern Gray Treefrog (Hyla versicolor). These guys really contribute heavily to that New England spring evening background noise.

I love my clownfishes but I’m mainly here for the invertebrates–the corals, mollusks, worms, arthropods, and the ecosystem. The Pencil Urchin was out and about this morning–just caught him with the camera. As soon the lights came up, he crawled back into his burrow. Info: probably a Slate Pencil Urchin (Eucidaris tribuloides) from the Caribbean. I have to keep an eye on this guy. He mainly feeds on sponges with the occasional coral meal. I have quite a bit of encrusting sponge (orange patch toward the top center) and the undersides of other rocks.
