After I sent in the story, I realized the world I'd created was huge and had all kinds of potential. I'm really enjoying exploring all those stories now. The idea for book #2 came out of knowing what was going to happen to a secondary character from book #1 (a character who will be a hero farther on in the series). Book #3 was actually the first story I wrote in the world after the short story, when I was just getting to know the tiger shifters. It became book #3, though, after I realized I wanted to tell a couple of other stories first.

I'm never quite sure how to answer the question of where the ideas come from, though, because I'm usually mulling things over, get a few characters in my head, and then run with "what if" questions to expand on their story. I go after the ideas as often as the ideas come to me. And the stories can come from anywhere.(less)

I do have to walk away from a story sometimes to work out problems or issues with the story. When that happens I usually take a walk or a shower--go someplace I can think uninterrupted--and let my imagination work through the problem. Then I get back to writing.(less)

Solidly into 2026

And all I can say is, at least we have books. At least we have books. (I'm in the US and things here are weird and not good. I feel like where I stand on things is obvious in my fiction, but in case it isn't, I'm anti-authoritarian, can't stand the current administration here, and believe in science. Also, PROTECT THE DOLLS. Spend your money wisely.)
Anyway, let's talk about books and take a little Read more of this blog post »

“What she'd thought was love before felt like a girlhood crush compared to the feeling now crashing over her. It sucked her under like riding whitewater rapids, spinning her around, and tossing her wildly into the air. There was no land, no balance, nothing to hold on to except Victor. In those quiet moments, he captured her loyalty and heart forever. She was done.”
Kat Simons, Once Upon a Tiger

“When he remembered, his indrawn breath pulled her scent into his mouth, coating his tongue with her taste. He swallowed that delicious flavor as his heartbeat sped.”
Kat Simons, Once Upon a Tiger

“Besides being on the run for my life for the last couple of weeks, shooting living beings, being held hostage, kidnapped , nearly raped and murdered, watching people be ripped apart, facing off against not one but two crazy shapeshifters, and oh yeah, having to watch you fight a life-or-death battle because of me. Twice. Besides all that, no of course nothing’s wrong.”
Kat Simons, Here There Be Tigers

Kat Simons Thanks, Janice! You too!

Janice Have a beautiful 1st day of Summer, tomorrow.

Janice Thank you very much. I'd love to meet those characters, in real life--if they had been real-- well...maybe...

Kat Simons Thanks so much, Janice! I'm really pleased you could find Along Came a Tiger! I'll keep working on getting the others into print for you. *grin* Have a great week!

Janice Thank you so much. I just got Along Came a Tiger, today, and have been skimming it...love it. I do have a Nook --which I, yet, to learn how to use-- but I still really prefer the various hardcopy editions. I found this message, tonight, after I sent you a question. I can hardly wait to read the whole Tiger Shifter series, and I'll be patient. Have a great evening.

Kat Simons Thanks for ordering the book, Janice! I hope you enjoy it.

Along Came a Tiger should be available to order in print as well (that's book #2). Here There Be Tigers (book #3) is working its way into the system now, so it should be available to order soon. The rest aren't in print yet, but I'm working on it (slowly!) I'll keep you updated. Thanks again!

Janice I ordered Once Upon a Tiger, at Barnes & Noble, but having Trouble finding the other books in the Tiger Shifter series in hardcopy format. Oh, well...I'll keep trying.

Janice Thank you, much, Kat.

Janice Thank you for friending me. I have yt to find your books in any of the bookstores I can get to, so I may need to special order. Your Tiger Shifter series caught my interest, as I was born a year of the water tiger. Have a great day.
