Listen Up!! || New Puscifer “Grand Canyon”

First of all, I still don’t really like Tool. Sorry. Tar and feather me. I like loads of stoner/groove metal, but the closest I can get to enjoying Tool is the pleasure of playing the schism riff.

Puscifer on the other hand, I’ve loved and been following closely since the first album. It’s completely different- experimental, and often goofy as hell industrial a la Foetus (another great love of mine); yet it remains unique in the world of music due to a combination of dedication to experimentation, and of course, Maynard’s voice.

Far from being a one-album vanity project, Puscifer has marched on with a string of releases since their inception, some weird and loud enough for me to like, and some that are…well, a little dull (until you put headphones on and smoke a bowl). The next album in the Puscifer cannon “Money Shot” drops just in time for my favorite holiday, Halloween, October 30th 2015. You can pre order the vinyl here, and even  get it signed!

Pink Floyd Has Officially Broken Up  ||   Wish You Were…n’t Hearing This

Well kids, the sixties are officially over now.

Straight out of David Gilmour’s mouth via Consequence of Sound:

“Obviously I accept there are people who want to go and see and hear this legend that was Pink Floyd, but I’m afraid that’s not my responsibility. To me, it’s just two words that tie together the work that four people did together. It’s just a pop group. I don’t need it. I don’t need to go there.
”

Damn. I can’t say that I disagree with him. I just don’t know how the hell he’s continued for near 50 years playing music out of a sense of responsibility rather than enjoyment or creative drive, sans a Syd Barrett and a Roger Waters

(pictured above)

. Gilmour’s been bottling this up for a while.

It’s sad to see the trip end here, Pink Floyd, but you left a long time ago. Thanks for sticking around after the fact as long as you did. You were a good monument to one of the most important bands in history.

Listen…Up? || Marilyn and Billy almost cover ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’

Yes, that’s Manson and Corgan, respectively. This happened in Nashville a couple of nights ago. Thank god someone was filming, because those not fucked up enough to realize that the lyrics they were screaming along to didn’t match, were all collectively looking away or into the heel of their palm.

Despite the ease of learning a few new chords, and the complete incongruity of the two songs, Marilyn and Billy decided to sing the lyrics to ‘Girl’s just want to have fun’ over Marilyn’s ‘Anti-Christ Superstar’ together from the same kafka-fascist podium Marilyn’s been coke-sweating behind since 1996.

It’s not Karaoke, guys, seriously.

Shenmue 3 || It’s Real, Funded, and Happening

Shenmue 3, the long awaited sequel to the ill-fated in-depth RPG begun on the sinking ship of the Dreamcast, is back for it’s third installment.

I know, it seems as believable as announcing Half Life 3′s confirmed release date, but seriously, Shenmue 3 has raised a record setting

$6,333,296 USD with 69,320 backers. Over six MILLION dollars earned in time frame that broke all previous records.

If only this kickstarter had been linked to launching a new Sega console, with Shenmue 3 promised/attached to it as a launch title. Despite my pipe dreams, I can’t fucking WAIT to get my hands on this. The Dreamcast era is one of my favorite nostalgic retreats.
