Decisions, Decisions
One of my favorite quotes from Eclipse. And yet it makes a point.
I’ve been following along with the Good Reads Give Away for January, which ends next Friday. Right now, 249 people have put in to win. That is a 1 in 20 chance for 12 books. I started thinking, how will I decide on the number of books to give away for February?
My answer – all of you. For every like you help me get on my page between now and next Friday (1/31), I will give away 1 book. So if you help me get 20 more likes, I’ll give away 20. Thirty likes – 30 books… and so on.
To make all this better, the e-book version on Nook is free until January 31st too.

Another Review
One of the things that Good Reads tells authors is not to focus on the negative reviews. I’ve been checking for more reviews and I found one. I spent the first couple of nights because I didn’t really know what to think. It wasn’t negative, but it wasn’t positive either. It was emotional. One of the things I strived for in this book was to make sure the reader would feel along with the main character. With that kind of review, I believe I have accomplished what I set out for. That makes me happy, especially as I keep checking Good Reads and I see more and more people marking my book as a book to read. I also see the number of people entering the Good Reads Give Away rising. And I love it!
To celebrate, I’ve decided I’m going to do another Give Away. In fact, I’ll do a give away a month until “Dark Road Awakened” comes out. Then I’ll start giving away both books. I’m excited!
If you have entered the Good Reads Give Away, go check it out. There’s still time.

Good Read Responses are….
AWESOME! or as my sister would put it AWESOME-SAUCE! (I think she’s been watching a little too much T.V.) So far 61 people have indicated that they want to read my book and 139 have entered to win a copy. That is awesome! E-books on Kindle are still on sale for $.99 and you can read up to the first four chapters free. Over the next month I will also be giving away t-shirts.
Front Back
Can anyone guess who gets the design on back as a tattoo?

Who likes the word FREE?
Seems like a trick question, right? It isn’t. Everybody likes the word FREE. So let me give something FREE.
Let me give some good news and then some more good news.
First, Dark Road Punished is now available on Nook through B&N. Woohoo!
Second, (and this is the best part) let’s have our first contest. If you have been following along (and even if you haven’t), you will have seen some of the many changes that have occurred during the editing phase. Psst – if you haven’t you can still go back.
Here we go.
The first person who can correctly tell me the original first three words of the book will win a FREE paperback copy like the one below.

Lots of Book
This is my proof copy. I got this in the mail two days ago and I had to take a picture. I was having an M&M moment like the commercial. The Brown M&M says “He does exist.” and Santa Claus says “They do exist.” This was my moment of, “It does exist!” I love books! Now I’ve had an electronic copy of my book, but holding the real, physical book in my hand and all I can do is sit there and tell myself, This is mine. I wrote this. This is my book. And I feel like I need to jump up and down or bounce around or go out and celebrate or something! But I’m not just excited about this book, I’m excited about all the ideas rushing into my brain over the next book.
Because of all this excitement and to start the Christmas season off with a BANG, starting Saturday, 12/7/13, all electronic copies will be available for $.99 until the end of the year.
On top of that, I’m going to start giving away some FREE paperback copies! Everybody loves FREE. Check back next week when I post the first contest.
For electronic purchases – currently available on Kindle and through Smashwords.com.
Paperback available thru Amazon.com.

Prologue from Dark Road Awakened
Finishing touches are being placed on Dark Road Punished. If everything goes as planned it should be out by next week. I will post again once it is available. In the meantime, here is the Prologue from Dark Road Awakened which will be scheduled to come out March 2014.
Prologue
Bella left the school cafeteria a few minutes before lunch ended. She planned to get the books she needed for her next two classes. Most of the other students waited until the bell rung to leave. It was unusual to hear the patter of a pair of feet after her, let alone the male voice that called out her name. She continued down the hall to her locker and blatantly ignored him. She had no idea why David followed her, but he did.
“Bella.”
She rounded the corner to the left of the next hallway.
David jogged after her. Once he caught up to Bella he started to walk side by side. “Hey Bella. I wanted to talk to you about the Spring Formal –– ”
“If you wish to speak to me then you should get with my father,” Bella said as she hooked another corner.
“What?” He asked, but didn’t lose step. David kept up with Bella’s pace as if they had done it all their life. “Well, see, I was wondering if you would go with me.”
“If you wish to speak to me then you should get with my father.” She still refused to make eye contact with him. Bella gave both of her answers without looking at him once. She knew enough of what he looked like since she tutored him once a week for the past two years. It was the only time they spent together. She didn’t talk to him in school and they certainly didn’t hang out outside of school. He played soccer, she played the piano. He went to concerts and parties, she went to church and Bible Study. They were complete opposites, exactly why his question set off alarms. I’m not falling for that again.
“Of course,” David answered. “The dance is a couple of weeks away. There’s time for me to meet your Dad before then. What time should I pick you up?”
I don’t remember saying yes. Grinding her jaw Bella glared at David. The bell rung to end first lunch and students poured into the halls. He just kept going like her answer didn’t really matter. What a jerk. She reached into her locker and grabbed the last book she needed, then slammed her locker shut. Spinning on her heel Bella turned toward David and spoke harshly. “Before you ask me anywhere or even talk to me as a man, you would need permission from my father.” With a flip of her hair she spun the other direction and walked away. The crowd that surrounded them parted as she broke through them.
His jaw dropped open in utter shock.
Heather stopped just next to him. “Wow bro. That was brutal.”
“I don’t get it.” David commented.
Heather shrugged and snickered. “She’s some sort of Christian or something. You know how they are.”
He cocked an eyebrow at her.
“Virgin walking. I guess that’s what you get for asking a prude.” She giggled as she patted him on the back.
He half rolled his eyes with a groan at his sister. “That’s what I liked about her.” Disappointed David shook his head and walked off.
