Instead she complied, turning to face the painted wall.
He captured her wrists in one of his hands and lifted them over head, placing her palms flat on the wall, holding his hands over her own. He stepped closer, sank into the welcoming swell of her body, an erotic contrast to the hard planes of his own.
He lowered his head to her hair, inhaled the scent of her shampoo, and ran his hands down the silky skin of her arms.
He wedged his knee between her thighs. “Don’t move, Kira. Not a muscle.”

Lyon and Kira are one of my favorite couples yet, both smart and ambitious but deeply distrustful of each other - which is kind of a problem since they've agreed to an arranged marriage.

I loved watching them fight their inconvenient attraction, and I loved watching them give in to sizzling passion even more, each of them sleeping with one eye open (so to speak) every step of the way.

It's Love or Money Release Day!!
It's Love or Money release day and I'm so, so excited to share it with you. Sure, it was super fun to write a wrong-side-of-the-tracks bad boy bodyguard with an ax to grind against rich people and his unexpected relationship with the heiress he's hired to protect. And sure, I loved channeling the fireworks their baggage set off when they were forced to be in close proximity.
I DEFINITELY enjoyed writing their sexy, sexy, sexytimes.
But somewhere along the way, they really stole my heart too.
This book more than any other I've written is a love letter to readers. Beyond the sizzle (and boy do Hawk and Laurel sizzle!), it's about the stories we tell ourselves about not being good enough, about not being worthy of love. It's about finally seeing those stories as the lies they are and about claiming the love and light that belongs to each of us.
I even left you a note at the back of the book. 😁

Home Free Release Day!
I can't believe it, but after 12 books and four couples, the sexy Murphy's Law saga comes to an end today with Home Free, the final book in the Coming Home series.

The Murphy saga has been all about healing - from Ronan and Julia, who'd both grown used to carrying the world on their shoulders and found someone to lighten the load in each other, to Nick and Alexa trying to make sense out of the senseless, to Declan and Kate forgiving themselves - and each other - the mistakes of the past in order to step into a future together.
And now Finn and Elise, both healing from terrible trauma, both feeling unworthy, turning to each other and learning that they don't have to be perfect or fully healed to deserve love.
That's been the theme that has resonated throughout this series. I hope it resonates for you in life too: we all deserve love, right now, exactly the way we are. It's something I believe wholeheartedly, and even more since writing the stories of these amazing men and women. I'm going to miss them so much!

Are you ready to Awaken?
I'm so thrilled to announce that The Awakening of Nina Fontaine, my much beloved older woman book, released this week.
I've loved writing all my Mob Boss and Syndicate books, but I wanted to try something a little different. My dream project was a mix of romance (still steamy!) and women's fiction, a story about reinvention and sex in midlife, about both the grief and possibility of realizing some things are behind us.
Enter Nina, a forty-five year old divorcee who's moved from the suburbs to New York City. Nina is still reeling from her divorce as she connects with a group of smart, funny women, finds a new job (and a new interest), and dates two very different men (one older and one younger).
I've loved writing her story so much. Early readers have used words like "resonate" and "relate" to describe the book, which I totally take as a compliment. One reader even called it "Fifty Shades for the older set", attesting to it's HAWT factor.

Rogue Love is Live!!
Release Day is always a little hectic, and yesterday was so much so that I didn't get a chance to post about it everywhere (as a side note, please do follow me on Facebook and Instagram, as I'm much more consistent in posting on those venues).
But it's official; Rogue Love is out in the world and Braden Kane is locked and loaded.

I had so much fun writing this book, the first in my new Kings of Corruption standalone series. This whole series is based on a group of formerly-law-abiding men who decide justice is sometime best served off the books. Think Boondock Saints meets Point Break.
Those of you who read Rogue Love will get a little treat from me in the way of notes in the back about my thoughts on the themes of the story and the movie that inspired it. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy it!
FBI agent Braden Kane has been going it alone ever since a family scandal sent him running straight from the Ivy League into Special Forces. That’s where he learned the hardest lesson of all — we’re all alone in the end. And nobody can save us.
When a raid goes terribly wrong, walking out is almost instinctual. Following the rules is for suckers. There’s only one way to get things done, and that’s to do it off the books. By the time he walks out, he knows there’s only one thing he’ll miss.

Shame!
I have not been updating this blog as often as I should.
Shame!
But I'm back and vowing to be better about juggling the insanity of modern social media, which for an author includes Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, and Pinterest.
Oh, and then there's that little business about writing new books.
;)
The good news is that I come bearing gifts! Or one gift in the form of a new series called Kings of Corruption that features Braden Kane and Locke Montgomery. If you've read Fearless you'll remember Locke, and if you've read almost any of my books you are very familiar with Braden, super hot Special Forces soldier turned FBI agent.
And he has secrets.
This will be a bit different from the Mob Boss series in that it will be a series of interconnected standalones. The first book, Rogue Love, releases March 21st.
I'm excited to be writing this series for a number of reasons. One of them is that it features a cast of Point Break-esque bad boy vigilantes whose headquarters is on the Southern California coast near where I grew up. I like to think all my female characters have been strong in their own way (and I'm a big believer that the strength of women is represented in many ways, not all of them physical), but Nora has five tough brothers in law enforcement and is a fellow graduate of the FBI Academy. She's a great match for the badass Braden Kane, and I'm having a lot of fun exploring their dynamic, challenging relationship.

The good news is that I come bearing gifts! Or one gift in the form of a new series called Kings of Corruption that features Braden Kane and Locke Montgomery. If you've read Fearless you'll remember Locke, and if you've read almost any of my books you are very familiar with Braden, super hot Special Forces soldier turned FBI agent.
And he has secrets.
This will be a bit different from the Mob Boss series in that it will be a series of interconnected standalones. The first book, Rogue Love, releases March 21st.
