Well hello Summer! Where the hell have you been?

School is out for summer and I’m so excited! It’s been a rough first year in the Master’s program and I have a year and a half left to go. Waiting on my final grades is the worse kind of torture, especially since one of my finals was like hell on earth. But I gave it my all and that’s all I could do.

Now comes summer jobs to fill the time in between writing my next few books. Lots going on this summer and I plan to enjoy every last minute of it before Fall is upon us again. I have plans to hit up my cousin’s HS graduation next month and I’m stoked to hang out and clown around with the fam bam.

My mind is a constant loop of never-ending book ideas and I have no idea when I’ll be able to write them all but I take it as a good sign that I’ll have material for the next two-three years at least. I’m going to push myself and give all I have to hone my craft and put out the best me I can. I have my hand in many pots and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Stay tuned folks, you’re not going to want to miss what I have up next!

Here’s to summer, may it be one you’ll always remember!! Now I’m off to watch The Hobbit for the thousandth time! Love this freaking movie :)

Book Review – Recurve by Shannon Mayer

I was provided this ARC copy by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Where to even start…we first meet Larkspur in Elementally Priceless in the Rylee Adamson Novel Series, when she first met a young Rylee on her first savage. I fell in love with her character right then and there when she risked all to help a young girl who wanted to prove she could do things on her own but still needed a bit of help.

So when I heard that Mrs. Mayer would be giving Lark her own series I was thrilled.

We start from the very beginning with Lark. We see her tragedies and triumphs and we feel her pain as if it were our own. Lark has been accused of something she hasn’t done and the only thing she can do is accept banishment or become a guardian to the king (her father). Even though technically Lark is a princess she isn’t treated like one by many and she is seen as useless. But there is so much more to Lark than anyone knows including herself. There are a few secrets and lies and sometimes you just want to shake a character or two.

I was left wanting the next part right after I finished the last page of Recurve and I believe this series will be as successful as the Rylee series.

The only issue I had with the story was there was more tell than show. Meaning Lark would overcome something and say “It couldn’t possibly get worse” and instead of ending it right there, Lark would say “I was wrong”. I would have rather saw she was wrong then to be told beforehand that she was going to be wrong (if that makes sense).

All in all this was a wonderful start to a brand new series

ARC received for an honest review

I’m not even sure where to begin with this book…Tempting BAD is a spin-off from M. Robinson The VIP Trilogy I would recommend reading it before going into Tempting BAD as it may spoil a few things at least from the last book MVP.

We jump into Brooke and Devon’s lives before they meet each other and each had their own demons before coming together. Brooke is a spoiled rich kid who can’t seem to find herself after witnessing something that shattered her world on her sixteenth birthday. Ever since then she’s been trying to find her way in a sense and she’s never fully dealt with her emotions. She’s just put them in a box left to simmer until the pot explodes.

Devon’s life was the opposite. He grew up to fast and never really got to be a kid. His childhood hunts him for years and meeting Brooke helps to soothe his broken soul in a way no one ever could. They change each other…two halves of the same whole.

As soon as they met the only thing I could think of was Taylor Swift’s song “I Knew You Where Trouble”. That’s the first thing I thought of when Devon first sees Brooke. The girl is trouble…they are hot and then cold.

You want to choke them (mostly Brooke) and other times you’re just left there speechless wondering WTF you just read. Mrs. Robinson tells a story like no other and I’ve read everything she’s written to date and I will continue to read whatever she comes up with next…(waiting for Mika *cough*). We’ve just seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her writing and I for one can’t wait to see what twists and turns she comes up with next. Bravo and very well done!

Isobelle didn’t want to be partnered with that ass hat, but she didn’t want to be strapped to a desk either so she kept her mouth shut. But she was not getting in the car with him after his little display. She didn’t care if she had to walk to her car. She stormed out of the conference room in a daze. This day just kept getting better and better.

“Isobelle, hurry up and get in the car before I leave you,” Alexander shouted.

“Go fuck yourself! I’ll find my own way home,” Isobelle said.

“Excuse me?”

“Fuck off and leave me alone.”

Isobelle was pulled into a secluded room and pushed up against a wall. She was held firmly in place by one of Alexander’s knees and forearm. He gave her the strangest look before his mouth came crashing down onto hers. She stood there, stunned for several seconds before she grabbed him by the back of his neck and pressed her body closer to his. His hands came down to rest on her behind and he squeezed. He picked her up so quickly that she skipped a few breaths and then could feel something solid and cool pressed up against her back. He’d moved her on top of the table that was in the room. She could feel him through his pants, and the rubbing motions he was making were driving her insane. Isobelle had never been intimate with a man before and she was all but purring like a cat.

Alexander’s hands slid up under her shirt, blazing a path to her breasts. Just as quickly as they were there, they were gone and her shirt was being ripped down the middle to expose her in a way she’d never been exposed before. The look in Alexander’s eyes was one of possession. In that moment he owned every part of Isobelle and nothing else mattered. He started to attack her nipples with a vengeance and Isobelle arched her back up to meet him. She was greedy for his touches, his kisses, and most of all his eyes. She wanted his eyes on her, always.

Isobelle felt herself fumbling with the buttons on Alexander’s slacks when just as quickly as he’d attacked her, he pulled away. The loss of his skin on hers was so drastic that she shivered in its absence. The look on his face was a mix of horror and longing. Isobelle didn’t understand.

“Alex, what’s wrong?” Isobelle asked.

She was panting but she’d managed the words. He was silent for a long time, too long.

“Don’t call me that. This,” Alexander said, pointing between the two of them, “was a mistake that will never happen again. Either get in the car or walk home. I don’t care. Either way I’m leaving in the next two minutes.”

Isobelle watched as Alexander walked out the door without a backwards glance. She looked down at her ripped shirt and the thought of walking out behind him in the state she was in reduced her to tears. For the first time in her life she was ashamed, and for that Isobelle might never be able to fully forgive him. With as much dignity as she could summon, Isobelle held her shirt closed with her hands, walked out the room Alexander had pushed her in, past The Society’s secretary, and left the building to start her extremely long walk-of-shame to her car. Because, true to his word, Alexander had left when she hadn’t come out in time. She was falling in love with a complete and utter asshole and she had no idea what she was going to do about it.
